Russian player here. I can't say anything about Star Academy covers, I didn't know anything about those games and never saw them anywhere as a kid (but now I will definitely play them!), but they didn't just mess with the covers, but with the translation as well, actually! For example, in the Russian version of the game, they kept Lisa, Anne (well, Anna in Russian, but it's basically the same thing) and Linda's names, but changed Alex to Alina for whatever reason. As far as names go, Alina is definitely much more Russian than Alex, which is not a name we use, Sasha is short for Alexander/Alexandra, not Alex, but it's a very interesting change, and there is no real need for it. Especially since there is a name-based puzzle in Anne's episode that, obviously, still uses Alex's og name. They also changed Tin-Can's name to Буран, i.e. Snowstorm, so his name doesn't really match Alex's personality and love for tinkering in the Russian version of the game, even though you could easily name him Жестянка, which does not really sound that great, all things considered, but there is a way to translate his name and make it make sense. It's odd because the game's setting is obviously foreign, and while Alex's name was changed to a more Russian name, her brother's name, James, remained the same. Oh, and they also changed Starshine's name to Altair, which... honestly, sounds kind of epic, if you ask me. Also, and it's not really much of a mystery, but here, in Russia, the titles of each Starshine Legacy episode also included the names of their protagonists. There were also slight changes too. For example, "Mystery of the Soul Riders" became "Lisa, Altair [a.k.a. Starshine] and the Races of Fate". But other than that, having played these games in both Russian and English, I can't say I remember any other differences, and the ones I just mentioned are pretty minor. I also think Josh became John in the Russian version, but story-wise, I think they're nearly identical.
This is so interesting and cool, so I definitely enjoy it! I would like to learn about how the villages or towns in Jorvik were made by SSO, and what is known about different areas. Like for example the Silverglade Castle, The Caldron in Crescent Moon village, Ashland, the shipwreck in Sunset island, and the road to Jorvik City. There’s much more, but just to name a few. And what about the story of Pi? How did that happen? Or what made Jasper move from Moorland? I’ve never seen Star Academy or read any of the books, comics or magazines from SSO, so I don’t know the lore from earlier.
sso could’ve brought coyote into the game and had starshine ranch be coyote ranch, instead of totally rebranding lisa and ruining her character and backstory :(

As somebody who grew up in the Jorvik universe ever since the first games came out (except star academy since those were never released in Germany I believe), I honestly enjoy listening to you as a Jorvik content creator the most. To me, everything after 2017 is just not canon anymore, as the original lore always will be. Thanks for keeping the original lore alive through your videos 🖤
At one point I wanted to draw a little "spin-off" comic (or rather a "love letter") to the old lore,, (not joking I actually tried replicating the style and all to give it that authentic feel) old me would've died for these bits and pieces of information haha. This was around the time the character redesigns dropped. I remember suddenly being obsessed with the old games and comics.

Eleanor!! I hope you see this, as you’re the best mystery hunter of SSO I know. I’ve got 2 mysteries that maybe you could slightly dive into, though I don’t think they are super important but they are mysteries I’m interested in. 1, There was a missing player face/skin tone of the 2nd main/playable characters. A more so darker skin tone that my old character had, and out of curiosity I went to check the character creator and realized that the face/skin tone was gone! I don’t know what the deal was with it, and I have found 2-3 people who had the same face/skin tone. I’ve got some pictures of my old character and other players having it, so I can show those in a vid, maybe a picture somewhere. Sadly, due to the character update I doubt you’d get anywhere with this, and not only that the only place of evidence I myself know of, which is the way back machine, The character creator area in 2018 is completely empty. And I joined in 2018. 2, Since I’ve gotten really into the old star stable and it’s videos especially from the fandom, I found 2 songs that seem to not have a full recording, and aren’t clear either. I’ve recorded the songs, edited them to be clearer, and even tried figuring out some of the lyrics, And here’s the details of them both: 1st song: Girl singer, song may be an older version of ‘Lisa Peterson’s’ I’ll be There, it’s currently only from the SSO Salons, and still heard there to this day. Though, I’ve heard from someone that it also plays in Starshine Academy, though I can’t find evidence for that. 2nd song: Boy singer, Seemingly no relation to any current songs around now, There are 2 salons that have no sound at all, possibly meaning this song played there once, but somehow it’s now silent, And this theory could be true, as the 1st song sounds more gentle, while this song sounds more Rock, Band like, and the silent salons are both edgy salons. I haven’t heard anyone say it was in SSA I have found someone who got into the files and got these songs, but they said that 1 there’s no full songs in the files, and 2 the sound quality is just apart of the song. I don’t know if you’ll see this, or figure out anything, but if you do see this and possibly figure things out, Thank you so much!! I also plan to share the song snippets that I mentioned, especially since there’s also a Lost Song community that could help me as well.
For the second question, I can confirm that the songs you are talking about are from Star Academy, and have, like many other things, been reused for SSO. They were most likely made from scratch by Hidden Entertainment as soundtracks for the games, as they have no titles and can't be found anywhere else on the internet (believe me, we've searched). The background noise is also indeed part of the songs. The female vocal song plays in Brittany's room, and the male vocal rock song plays in Lisa's room. Kyomi, on the other hand, has an ambiance with no vocals. As for your first question, I don't know the answer of. It sounds like a bug or leak where the skintone was added to the game but not character creator or vica versa. However, I'm not familiar with this, and like you said, it's hard to look into now that the characters have been updated.

Very interesting and I wish if they normally again published all comics and finished them... And few months ago was in sso new quest with Herman. And he in the end mentioned that he visited his brothers in the north. Just little mention that was all. But maybe when we (yes that will take long time...) finally open north area... Maybe we will meet them too. I don't have problem with new quests. Some of them are really epic, for example new quests with Vala. But even I'm little lost in this story with all changes. But at the same time I understand this is online game and there will be always changes... But still it is chaotic. And I don't like that is not possible on same account play quests again once they are finished. So player will after some time forgot about what was story even without changes. I think best could be if they made some old sso with old lore and story quests... It don't have to be online game, just some normal pc game. Is always nice to play again Starshine Legacy and Star Stable seasons riders... So why not old sso. I know this will not happen. :-( :-D Well at least there are still many mysteries to solve. :-)

I managed to get my hands on the second issue of the Starshine Legacy comics, but I can't find the first one for the life of me! Also I just love hearing stuff about things from the SSL era all the way to modern day SSO, that's reminds me. Is the Iceberg still happening or has it been abandoned? Hi, I have an idea for video! What about making video about most interesing background characters? (in comics, books, other hidden Entertaiment games) Mine first suggestion is: Laverne from page 11 StarShine Legacy comic: Dark Core Rising. Looks like sso's inspiration for Darko, Mr. Sands is really trusfull towards him and relyes on him. Pretty interesing character, propably would play bigger role if comics hadn't been disxontiuned. What is really interesing is that Laverne refers to Mr.Sands as Curator Sands.
2:45 i had these magazines, there were only 2 released in poland and there was a 250 SC code in each one. I will look out for them the next time i will be at my grandma's place but im afraid she may have thrown them away long time ago :C. Hi! I just found your channel and I absolutely love the content :) I wanted to say something about the magazines which contained comics. I remember being reaaally hyped about them as they released two of these in my country and then... suddenly discontinued, therefore I am surprised there were five of these in total. It's a pity, because they included lots of lore that was not to be found anywhere else. I wonder why the releases were so limited and stopped being continued? Professor Giobertus... why is no one talking about the fact that SSO apparently has a characters that scientifically predicted Garnok and how Garnok affects horses?? Was he an undercover druid?? This is deep lore. Especially since it goes back 100 years...
I find it odd how different the characters designs of the comics are compared to in-game, like the blind girl from dundull, the wildwhisperer soulriding trainer (forgot how to spell either of their names) etc Shouldnt some of these characters have any design discrepancies since those characters didnt get redesigns later on?
speaking of reused assets, the early dance animations in sso were taken from Morrowind. specifically, from the dancers of a ... special entertainments club 😭not sure what the thought process there was. and i'm very scared of the implications of our mc having learned that dance move from there
I have a few of the polish sso magazines! about two or three, i bought them as a kid and completely forgot they existed update! I found one with the tan and loretta comic, i also had the rania one and another i dont remember, but I wasnt able to find them :(
I used to play Starshine Legacy and had the Starshine comics at a young age from the Pony Club subscription package. I never really played the newer games, so I wonder what people are talking about when they say the lore has changed so much? Have they changed all the background story in Star Stable online? (I’ve never played that!)
Well, pretty much everything is different now, but to summarize it: the Soul Riders and Dark Riders (Sabine, Jessica and Katja) have been revamped and are completely different characters that are much less realistic and relatable. The story narrative has gone from dark teen sci-fi to family friendly magic and wonder. The threats are no longer scary, our actions no longer have consequences, and the theme is no longer dark and mysterious. The whole game and world of Jorvik has grown to become tame and shallow, and they try too hard to pander to the masses and are much too politically driven to tell a good, meaningful story. I have videos talking about a lot of these things, such as the massive, unecessary change in main characters, retconning and changing of the story, and the overall theme going from dark and mysterious to rainbows and friendship. They explain it much better than what I can in a comment, so if you are interested to hear where things are going, you could take a scroll through my channel to see if there's anything of interest. I’ve seen the covers to quite a few books and stories that aren’t available except for in a few countries. (They show up when you type “soul riders books”.). One was even a super thick comic in Swedish( I think). I don’t think they’re from the old lore but they’re still something I want to get my hands on!! Hi Eleanor!! I've been watching your videos for a long time (MANY YEARS) and I think it was a right choice to quit starstable. I personally play starstable and the new update is terrible (in my opinion). I have loved starstable forever!! and when I first watched your 'quitting SSO' Video I thought that was a wrong choice. I stopped watching your videos becacause I didnt like the old SSO. I agree with you now. The old SSO is glamourus. I really have been thinking about quitting SSO. but only till they come to their senses. I have came back to watching you because your right. And your new videos are awesome. i used to love star stable and starshine games!! would love to play them again some day, now when i would actually understand it better too. i did try sso dome years back but i got very frustrated by how "pay to do anything" it was 🥲 maybe i'll give it another go some day to see if anything's changed
SSO is a completely different game at this point, so if you want to play because of the originals, I would advice against it 😞 However, they have re-published the Starshine Legacy games on their home page, which is a safe and free way to play them that doesn't require you to download it. It's over at starstable.com/starshinelegacy. I have two of the magazines the spring one and the summer one which im so grateful because I never thought they would become so "rare"

And few months ago was in sso new quest with Herman. And he in the end mentioned that he visited his brothers in the north. Just little mention that was all. But maybe when we (yes that will take long time...) finally open north area... Maybe we will meet them too.
I don't have problem with new quests. Some of them are really epic, for example new quests with Vala. But even I'm little lost in this story with all changes. But at the same time I understand this is online game and there will be always changes... But still it is chaotic.
And I don't like that is not possible on same account play quests again once they are finished. So player will after some time forgot about what was story even without changes.
I think best could be if they made some old sso with old lore and story quests... It don't have to be online game, just some normal pc game. Is always nice to play again Starshine Legacy and Star Stable seasons riders... So why not old sso. I know this will not happen. :-( :-D

Mine first suggestion is: Laverne from page 11 StarShine Legacy comic: Dark Core Rising. Looks like sso's inspiration for Darko, Mr. Sands is really trusfull towards him and relyes on him. Pretty interesing character, propably would play bigger role if comics hadn't been disxontiuned. What is really interesing is that Laverne refers to Mr.Sands as Curator Sands.

2:45 i had these magazines, there were only 2 released in poland and there was a 250 SC code in each one. I will look out for them the next time i will be at my grandma's place but im afraid she may have thrown them away long time ago :C. I wanted to say something about the magazines which contained comics. I remember being reaaally hyped about them as they released two of these in my country and then... suddenly discontinued, therefore I am surprised there were five of these in total. It's a pity, because they included lots of lore that was not to be found anywhere else. I wonder why the releases were so limited and stopped being continued? By the way, if you'd be interested, maybe I could provide scans of the two magazines, unless someone has done that before. Anyway, thanks for the awesome vid!

I find it odd how different the characters designs of the comics are compared to in-game, like the blind girl from dundull, the wildwhisperer soulriding trainer (forgot how to spell either of their names) etc
Shouldnt some of these characters have any design discrepancies since those characters didnt get redesigns later on?

speaking of reused assets, the early dance animations in sso were taken from Morrowind. specifically, from the dancers of a ... special entertainments club 😭not sure what the thought process there was. and i'm very scared of the implications of our mc having learned that dance move from there

I used to play Starshine Legacy and had the Starshine comics at a young age from the Pony Club subscription package. I never really played the newer games, so I wonder what people are talking about when they say the lore has changed so much? Have they changed all the background story in Star Stable online? (I’ve never played that!)
Well, pretty much everything is different now, but to summarize it: the Soul Riders and Dark Riders (Sabine, Jessica and Katja) have been revamped and are completely different characters that are much less realistic and relatable. The story narrative has gone from dark teen sci-fi to family friendly magic and wonder. The threats are no longer scary, our actions no longer have consequences, and the theme is no longer dark and mysterious. The whole game and world of Jorvik has grown to become tame and shallow, and they try too hard to pander to the masses and are much too politically driven to tell a good, meaningful story.
I have videos talking about a lot of these things, such as the massive, unecessary change in main characters, retconning and changing of the story, and the overall theme going from dark and mysterious to rainbows and friendship. They explain it much better than what I can in a comment, so if you are interested to hear where things are going, you could take a scroll through my channel to see if there's anything of interest. I started playing the Starshine Legacy games again as I just found out that they are free to play online which have made me happy, what a throwback to my childhood🥹
I’ve seen the covers to quite a few books and stories that aren’t available except for in a few countries. (They show up when you type “soul riders books”.). One was even a super thick comic in Swedish( I think). I don’t think they’re from the old lore but they’re still something I want to get my hands on!!
Also, is the “clouds over Silverglade” comic still available as an actual physical book?

Hi Eleanor!! I've been watching your videos for a long time (MANY YEARS) and I think it was a right choice to quit starstable. I personally play starstable and the new update is terrible (in my opinion). I have loved starstable forever!! and when I first watched your 'quitting SSO' Video I thought that was a wrong choice. I stopped watching your videos becacause I didnt like the old SSO. I agree with you now. The old SSO is glamourus. I really have been thinking about quitting SSO. but only till they come to their senses. I have came back to watching you because your right. And your new videos are awesome. I have watched a couple of them and their great!! I'm ending this by simply asking you to try the new starstable and rate it. I think that would be entertaining and intresting. (LIKE IF YOU AGREE)

The Soul Riders books don't align with the game lore anymore, something that becomes especially clear in the second triology
i used to love star stable and starshine games!! would love to play them again some day, now when i would actually understand it better too. i did try sso dome years back but i got very frustrated by how "pay to do anything" it was 🥲 maybe i'll give it another go some day to see if anything's changed
SSO is a completely different game at this point, so if you want to play because of the originals, I would advice against it 😞 However, they have re-published the Starshine Legacy games on their home page, which is a safe and free way to play them that doesn't require you to download it. It's over at starstable.com/starshinelegacy. That version has very low saturation, high contrast and weird controls compared to the original version of the game though, and they haven't posted the other two series, so I also have links and instructions to install all of them on your PC ruclips.net/video/BPkjTKoaGew/видео.html
