Your video really helped me on my future decisions to ship items. I had no idea I could get boxes for free from USPS, shipped to me too. I frequently ship the same item to the same address, and it was costing me about $54, at the cheapest, to ship it through UPS or FEDEX. With your video, and some measurement taking on my end, I found out I can fit the same item, into a Priority Large Flat Rate shipping box, and it will cost me $22.80 now! That is a huge savings, and I am so glad I looked into this and came across your video. You explained everything perfectly for a novice like myself. Thank you! Liked and subbed!
Great video! I sell board games on eBay a lot. Was doing so consistently throughout the pandemic, as many people were stuck at home and in need of a hobby or activity. Some of these board games, though not too heavy (I think the majority of them average at around 3-4lbs) but the last one I shipped out weighed just under 8lbs (it was an RPG) and the dimensional weight of it was pretty substantial, enough so that I had to find a box that was 2.5 ft. wide. I was up in the air for a while on how to ship it because each method I considered was costing me a bundle. I ended up using priority mail (flat rate didn't have big enough boxes to fit this game in) and it took quite a bit out of my net profit but I didn't want to use parcel select and risk it being damaged or lost. Yes I've had horrible experiences going the economy route on some of my sales.
RPG games are great for resell. I have a dream of stumbling across a mint MB Dark Tower game. Actually I would love to stumble across any Dark Tower game.
@@curatorofthelost Those are hard to find, even harder with everything intact. I saw quite a few of those on eBay and are currently hovering around the $200 range. Yikes!!
I don't see a lot of difference in using the priority over economy services as far as how fast it gets there & damage risk however, included cost packaging can be really useful especially for stuff that is supposed to be in a box. Actually love econo in poly mailers & first class bubble mailers that is my prefer method of shipping, about $5 for first class & about $8 for large bubble items, up to 11 if its far away. Lately I've been combining two boxes which strengthens the wall the way in which I do it which is good for what I was shipping. Those were running us 11 to 16. I lost about $3 do to an up charge because I accidentally selected Poly mailer instead of Box on pirate ship so USPS being toxic as they like to be if you make one mistake screwed me on that. I disputed it but they never get around to viewing disputes it seems. I've been avoiding Pirate Ship lately but the next time a Disc based video game sells I want to try media mail on there. I think it's absolutely baloney that disc media games are not included in media now, with pirate ship they wont know what is inside of the package since it will be detectable as a DVD imo.
Welll, we we don't use polybags either. But we do ship books using flat rate Priority Mail stiff envelopes, letter size, with several layers of small bubble bubble-wrap wrapped around the book. We get the bubble wrap at the 99cent store. It is the exact same width as the interior of the envelopes, and makes a surprisingly stiff package. Ships same price nationwide.
Great info on the regional boxes!! Have you ever used those for books, or just items other than books, because it seems like you’re pretty big on media mail for a good reason!! Also, I guess I had thought that the regional rate boxes were cheaper if you were shipping nearby, but your example was AL to LA!! What are the criteria for identifying what qualifies for regional box A vs B? Thanks!! Keep up the good work!!
Hi- I have used the regional rate boxes for books when people want a faster shipment than media. Most often I use them for magazines. They can be a great deal for mags, but for books I believe media is the best value on the planet! Regional A has a 15 lb limit. Regional B has a 20 pound limit. Boxes sizes differ, but the big thing is that the box actually will say Regional A or B. If you box has Regional B printed on it- that is the rate it has to go. As for pricing- there is a zone rate but I have no idea how it is calculated. For me, it seems like Regional A, regular priority, or flat rate priority usually cove my needs. I don't remember the last time I used B. Regardless, if I ship priority, I just get a weight and check price on the ebay shipping to decide the least expensive way to go. Thanks for the views and comment!
All my books on eBay's $50 or more. I don't really deal with the smaller stuff and I use the medium priority flat rate box the most. And if you buy online, you save 3 dollars, so it comes to $14.
So if you select weight of the item when you ship it you’ll take it to the post office for them to weight it again? I’m sorry I’m new to this and what if you have a post office so why choose select weight if they’re just gonna weigh it for you
Can't find an answer to this anywhere....when shipping priority mail flat rate envelopes, do you still need to apply stamps or postage in order to ship or is that included in the flat rate price?
Ty. I'm trying to learn this. I want to send food to a friend in need. Is can goods cheaper to order on amazon,to a place or do it myself? It will be Az to CA
Probably cheaper to just order on Amazon. Cans will be heavy and have to go priority mail. Flat rate boxes will likely be the best but will not hold many. Better yet- look at Walmart+ for either pickup or delivery.
What about media mail? I thought you can send books at the media mail rate which may be cheaper. I love your videos, teaching me about a market I never thought about selling in. Thank you.
Yes- books would definitely be media mail, but remember magazines can't go media- the regional rates can be great there. Or, if you pick up some other non-book treasure! Thanks for the view and comment.
I think priority all ships the same speed regardless of flat or cube. I agree on flat rate costs- I often see regular priority or cubic is cheaper than flat rate. If shipping heavy across many zones it can be cheaper but I don’t use them that much for my stuff.
If less than 1 lb then 1st class will be cheapest for non media items. Over 1’pound will go to priority. Depending on weight you have options- regular priority, flat rate, or cubic rate (for thin items)
I accidentally sent small figures inside a priority medium box with media mail... what do I do?? I'm stressing.. it says it departed the post office, will it still reach the buyer? Or will they send it back?? Please help me!!
It is very likely that it will go to the buyer with no issue. I think if anything happens, either the buyer will get charged postage upon delivery or the end route PO will send it back. If you want to be pro-active, send your buyer a message explaining the mistake and tell them that if there is any issue you will take care of it. Otherwise, don't sweat it too much- I think there is a good chance it will go through the system since it was accepted. Let me know what happens!
I do the eBay global shipping so I just ship to a clearing house in Kentucky. Global ship sets the price for the international leg so it is out of my hands.
Priority is the absolute worst because they leave it on the steps.I have learned that if you actually want to get the item you paid for your going to have to pay for better shipping. Even then it's a toss up. That is what my experience has been.
So after hurricane Ida our town had a major influx of evacuees looking for gas, so much so that finding gas stations with any gas was becoming problematic. One night I went out at 10PM to find a gas station without a line and sure enough I did. I started to pump gas and looked around at others getting gas as well and noticed a woman filling up her tank with the exact same shirt as yours only hers had text right under the (Hyrule) emblem that illuminated the answer to me and now you know I have never played that game series before or surely I wouldn't have asked such a silly question.
You know it is so hard to find a right video that is talking about what you need to learn about lol. Like the only thing I need to know is can you use any box to ship USPS priority?? Now you would think that they would be a thousand videos on RUclips telling you Yes or no lol but I haven't been one it just doesn't make sense All I need is one video letting me know if it's okay if I could use a shoebox to ship USPS priority so if that one in a billion person is out there could you help me lol

Regional rate a&b boxes I don't think no longer exist
Are priority boxes the cheapest way to ship products of small dimensions that can’t fit in a letter envelope?
If less than 1 lb then 1st class will be cheapest for non media items. Over 1’pound will go to priority. Depending on weight you have options- regular priority, flat rate, or cubic rate (for thin items)
I find that the Flat rate shipping option always costs more than the same size regular boxes.
True for lower weight items. As weight goes up though and depending on zones I find savings there.
I accidentally sent small figures inside a priority medium box with media mail... what do I do?? I'm stressing.. it says it departed the post office, will it still reach the buyer? Or will they send it back?? Please help me!!

can you ship clothing in a priority shoebox? can someone help me pls
Absolutely- if it fits then it is ok.
Priority is the absolute worst because they leave it on the steps.I have learned that if you actually want to get the item you paid for your going to have to pay for better shipping. Even then it's a toss up. That is what my experience has been.
I have some buyers that say this is a problem for their address and ask to use another service or to wrap items inside of plastic bags inside the box.
Hi… what is the cost por diferents boxes?
No cost for the boxes themselves. They are free from the PO.
AL to LA = Alabama to Louisiana 😂
What T-shirt logo is that?

Yes! Yes you can. Put in any box.
Why not just make it clear and say if you use a flat rate box, it ships for what ever fits in it. 😮
With flat rates running ~$15-23 now, customers want best value. Flat rate can be best by far with heavy stuff though.
Do I have to use a priority mail shipping box to send a priority mail label item
No- you can use any box. Unles you want to do priority flat rate- in that case you need the actual USPS boxes. For regular priority use any box is ok.
