    Funny thing there, I remember when everything came in a brown paper bag. Then, the environmentalists said that we were cutting our forest too fast and we needed to switch to plastic. Even though companies like Georgia Pacific treated their tree farms as crops and harvested and planted sustainably. I am old enough to remember global freezing, cooling, ozone, and acid rain, "the earth has a fever," and now clomate change. I agree on the plastic. We use it too much. I guess you need to follow the money. Guess I had to vent a little. 👍👍

    • @scottsoper
      @scottsoper 12 дней назад +1

      Good venting. However it is not just about money. It is disruption to help gain political power. There is nothing wrong with plastic or paper. I don't want to write a dissertation on it.....

    Wearing a mask/ respirator mixing perlite in particular, but good with the rest of amendments as well , is a good idea. If you get tired of looking at & messing with perlite, rice hulls do the same thing w/o the dust, & provide silicon as well.

      Yeah that's going to come back on her in 10 to 15 years sadly, especially if it's something they do every year. Plus saw dust. Noticed that with a lot of other habits they have. It's been 4 years already since they started it seems so another 10 and it will start to show. Pneumoconiosis, dust or black lung, is still a big problem in a lot of industries like this.
      Hopefully it's only on film day they don't wear masks for it.

    if the pete comes in a compressed bail. the 3cu ft that expands to around 50gal, body slam the bail before you open it and it will be clump free. the rule of ish will apply. also look into teaming with microbes and learn as much as you can about the soil food web. plus remember that liquid water sofner will seperate your soil and allow you to see and measure the ratios of sand pete ect. also a good way to boost earth worms is to add castings that contain eggs.

    We use perlite as an insulator in a vacuum jacketed tank that holds LNG at cryogenic temperature. Didn’t know that it could enrich soil. When our perlite is exposed, though, we are in respirators and long sleeved clothing to protect against any skin and pulmonary irritation.

    • @scottsoper

    • @ddg15205860

      @@scottsoper No. The perlite is inside the vacuum jacket that surrounds the tank in which the LNG is stored. The perlite cannot be accessed unless the LNG has been removed from the tank and vacuum broken in the jacket. By then, the temperature is no longer cryogenic.

    What you are showing the public is so important. You have demonstrated the best form of carbon capture. You cut down trees and use the good parts, and the rest turn into dirt that stays in the ground. The best part is that it opens more space to grow more trees to suck more co2 out of the atmosphere. The only question I have is, have you looked into the level of arsenic in the Kelp Amendment? I know its natural but alot of seaweed amendments and compost have high levels of arsenic.

    • @scottsoper
      @scottsoper 13 дней назад

      It would take a bit of study for me to truly get a handle on what would be considered a "high level of arsenic" in the soil. These days, even vary small amounts can be detected. I remember that my hometown was all worried over something like 3 parts per billion of arsenic or some such thing in the town's well water. It had been there all along but now it could be measured and made a big deal of.

A high temperature biochar reactor wouldn't take up much space in your yard, could heat your drying kiln, and the added value as a soil amendment and long term carbon capture process is well worth looking into. A positive on climate change. Thanks for all the great videos you've been making!

    • @scottsoper

      They do make charcoal from time to time; would that be similar? However I would not be adding that to the soil unless there was some specific chemical in the soil I was trying to capture.
