Had two of these installed outside for a few nights. Caught a few showers overnight, and both needed replacement the following day. Do this at your won risk.
Wonderful job showcasing, Cream Source should spread some cheese around for ya! On minor correction, LEDs are juiced off if DC power supplies, not ballasts
I own a Vortex 8. Love the light! One thing I would like to see is a better ability to do both strobing effects and smooth slow dimming back to back without having to change the smoothing settings manually. You either get amazing smooth dimming that seamlessly goes to zero from 100 with smoothing on (kudos to them for not having a painful drop at the end like skypanels), or you get really good fast strobing with smoothing turned off. But you can’t have both without changing the setting. This is a minor issue I’d like to see discussed and hopefully they can come up with a variable smoothing option that does both well at the same time. I think skypanels do a slightly better job doing fast and slow intensity effects simultaneously, but they do have an annoying drop off when dimming to zero. Overall I love my Vortex 8 though!
They are having a big discussion about how to help alleviate this issue with a bunch of customers in a forum right now and I think there's going to be a "control channel" option in the near future that will allow you to change this in a cue which isn't exactly what you would hope (just don't have to deal with the problem entirely) but I think will allow you to do what you want but will need to be managed how you use it.
Hi Gregory, Thank you for your positivity. Also, great point and here is the answer from Sasha, our CTO. We will be adding the ability to change the Smoothing Mode via DMX very soon! As well access to other settings like High Speed Mode, Dimming Curve, and many other settings all over regular DMX. Hope this helps and thanks again. Warm regards, Spencer - CreamTeam
No one cares about the IP65 rating. YAY! Its waterproof, great. The amount of times we've actually had them in the rain is about 1% of their on set lifetime. Seriously, don't try to sell me a lamp because its weather resistant. Sell me a lamp because of its quality and features. Its super heavy, the yolk is junk, and they are very awkward to manage on set.
Cool. A lot of people who aren’t you do a ton of location work in wet climates, and think the IP65 rating is awesome Oh, and they’re also great lights.
I’m in love with this light. It’s like they have thought of almost everything when they designed it

This is our favorite light. Quick and easy with Blackout too!

Can you tell me if it has audible fan noise?
what are your preferred profiles on the v8?
It's not a ballast it's a power supply.
Beats the sky panel.
ip65 is not the world. prob. 99% good enough 😁
The price is disgusting.

I’m Florida biased, in the summer it rains in the afternoon everyday. You have no clue how awesome this is for someone like me
Same here in Atlanta. Hope to see them used more out here
my Aputure Nova P600C is amazing. After watching this video I know now I don't need to upgrade.
