- I installed LineageOS 21 on Pixel 2 XL and used it in 2024. Let's discuss my experience using this custom ROM on the Pixel 2 XL.
The phone was launched back in 2017 and was met with critical acclaim.
It featured a two-tone finish on back and a 6-inch OLED display on the front. The phone launched with Android 8 and was last upgraded to Android 11 over 3 years ago.

It’s pretty easy. Just search on RUclips and you’ll find tons of videos. The ROM version might be lower but the process is the same!

I have a one plus 5t on me and its still doing great, should i install the lineage os 21??
What about the battery dying? I have a Galaxy S10 with Lineage 20 on it and the only hinderance is the weak battery. The unofficial battery replacements don't really work that well either.
Battery life is decent. No sudden issues. It’s a 7 year old phone so the battery doesnt last as long. It’s still decent.
Do you know if installing a newer version of Android in the form of lineage or other custom releases has any effect on the "lifetime unlimited photo storage" for google photos? Right now on a stock pixel 2xl it says "lifetime unlimited" in google photos vloud backups when its set to "quality compressed". But if that would be lost with updating to a newer build it might not be worth it for my use case :s

One question, if you purchase an older android phone in which the life cycle for OS and Security updates has already ended will the phone automatically update to the latest OS and security update that was available for the phone?
Yes. It’ll update to the last update the company pushed. After that, it won’t update anymore.

Well you can watch tons of videos on RUclips. Don’t need to be Lineage OS 21. Could by any version. Process is the same. Hope it helps!

Not sure when they added this feature but it's available on android 14 on my other phone..

Works perfectly. You need to install Gapps package when flashing this custom ROM.
