Thanks Lachlan. I hope it's still going well with the low carb. Please look into homa-ir test if you don't already know about it. It could be good to cover for your audience that may be also moving towards diabetes or prediabetes. Homa-ir shows how well your body is dealing with carbohydrates/sugars via the insulin response. It's important to understand this early on to prevent even reaching diabetic levels. A website called thebloodcode shows how to calculate it and explains about it. Sorry I can't explain it very well 😊
Keep posting man, it may not be today, tomorrow or even this year, but this is an endurance game of consistency. Keep faith and trust the process. Love from the U.S
My training has also been fuelled by Nutri-Grain, raisin toast and hot cross buns. And putting on sunscreen just to find out the pool is closed for a swimming carnival is hitting a bit too close to home as well!
Let’s be real, while it may be sufficient calories for the training goal and sport, this is an absolutely horrible diet. Regarding being fat adapted, it would require much lower carbs and longer fasting periods to truly get those adaptations. Those fasted morning zone 2 workouts will still have loads of glycogen to work off of.
The biggest problem of the many with this diet is the insufficient amount of fats to reduce the glycemic load. This is arguably even worse than the Standard American diet though.
@@arturlit No it's not. A diet high in nutrients. Macro as well as micro. He eats tons of macro's, barely any micro's. Switching cornflakes for real food would improve that for example.
@@arturlit Have you seen his latest video? He was/is pre-diabetic on the verge of being a type 2 diabetic because he ate this way. This is a terrible diet
May not be the best diet nutrition wise, but it's nice to see you actually eat a good amount for your training. So many of my friends eat like a piece of toast for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and some pasta for dinner. So bad.
I love this because it’s probs closest to an actual diet of an age grouper triathlete as it gets. Just eat whatever is around and frequently. Often too much bread, not a lot of protein and lots of easy carbs 👊💪
You and MANY others have fallen in this same trap. Thanks to keeping this up, as im sure many will recognize that this looks alot like their own diet. Exercise forgives many sins, but not all
Do you have a nutritionist? With a diet like that with so much processed carbs and so little protein and vegetables or good fats I can’t see how you can keep going and recover well each day and have any longevity in the sport
Hi folks. I'm wondering could I get some input from someone who knows a bit about this. So, long story short, say I go for a cycle and do lets say 4hrs, at my weight I burn whatever amount of calories. It'll say on garmin/strava. I know they're not absolutely spot on with cals burned. Then, later that day say I go for a run. Again, calories burned is logged. At the end of the day, after the 2 sessions, to get a full calorie burn, can/should I also add in 2000 cals that my body burns from being simply alive, as in my basil metabolic rate. The calories my body burns each day regardless of what I do, which for my weight, is 1900. Can I add these to the calories burned during the bike and the run ?? Thanks for all help.
Every year I like to sacrifice something. Last year I did no fast food, ive done no alcohol, no gambling etc. Its nothing to do with health, as you can see I eat loads of sugar
yes i was eating like him last year during my peak training (20-25h/week) and I noticed I was very fit but also started to lose muscle mass quite fast. This year I eat the same (I'd say a bit healthier than the video but not that much) but I count AT least 70g/prot per day. Target 100g/day. I avoid too much meat of any kind. The worst that can happen if you eat too much prot is that it converts into carbs which doesn't matter at all in IM training.
Soy milk contains like 30g of protein per 1 litre, same for bread is like 30g of protein in 8 pieces. + cerials and other stuff, would say there is definitely enough of protein at least this day.
@@lordjupu Yeah true, didnt really consider the bulk quantity. My next point would be they are probs not great sources of protein. Not a healthy sustainable diet long term. But hey his focus is training for ironmans.
Lachlan, Where are you getting your nutrition advice from? I nearly choked on my rolled oats when heard you talk about 3 bowls of corn flakes and all that bread. As a younger athlete you can pretty much get away with eating anything that provides you with enough energy, but the quality of micro and macronutrients is really important for aiding recovery.
Ive never received any nutrition advice I just eat what I feel like eating really. Ive never noticed any difference in recovery when following a cleaner diet vs just eating anything. I do try and still eat the basic fruits and vegetebales each day but when it comes to extra food on top of the basics ill just eat whatever is cheapest really.
Eating a whole foods diet has helped immensely with training and recovery. So energized for the fasted workouts in the morning and have a ton of energy later in the day for round 2. You are what you eat 🌱
Very surprised to see so little protein and such an incredibly high amount of processed sugar. Check out how much sugar is in hot cross buns, glass of OJ and of course the cereals
This diet is all high GI carbohydrates, you basically ate cereal, and bread and soy milk all day. No protein, limited veggies and no wholegrains. Of course your sugar levels will go high and get pre diabetes. Now you have gone to an extreme of cutting all carbohydrates out instead of finding a middle ground and seeing a sports dietitian to get some advice. From one extreme of high GI carbs to NO carbs is not healthy either.
The Scott Murray diet........and why on EARTH are you training 3 hours a day? You aren't going to get any benefit in conditioning beyond 1.5 hours a day max. You need to make the most of your time below that window and up the pace to get more out of it. This "long slow" and ultrarunning stuff is NONSENSE. If you don't believe me, take a look at real pro distance runners. They don't do more than 1.5 hours a day. Maybe 2 tops. And to be quite blunt about it, they supplement their testosterone, just to bring it up to normal levels. More than about 60 or 70 miles per week will DESTROY most men's T levels. Just trying to help bro.
Love the realness. Ignore these armchair quarterbacks trying to give their 2 cents. I guarantee not 1 person on here that is commenting bad about your diet was or will ever be half the athlete you are

Really enjoying your videos mate, thanks for sharing. 8 weeks to port, let’s go!

Mate try the cornflakes with a protein shake and some frozen berries.
And then dump the cornflakes.
Terrible diet nutrition wise 🤣🫠
The man's an ironman athlete, and it seems to work fine. It's hard to define a 'nutritional' or 'healthy' diet

To be honest mate, I see a lot of highly processed sugary foods, not much fruit and veg. In saying that you do seem to handle the training load.

A diet fuelled by ultra processed food. Not nutrition at all I’m afraid.
Cornflakes is junkfood. A lot of HFCS, no nutritional value.
