I've been looking for the shipyard story for years, I can remember watching it when it was telecast way back in 81 it brought tears to my eyes then as it did now. Thank you thank you!

THANK YOU, MEGANOIKZ. Being a huge Billy fan, it's rare to find something you haven't seen yet. This is simply wonderful. And the other two guests were also charming and entertaining. Watching Billy laugh at June's anecdotes was the highlight, for me. You've made a happy man very old.

FUN FACT: Connolly ended up living two houses away from Parkinson

Correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, however many stars who appeared on 'Parkinson' got 'Parkinson's' disease... Billy Connolly and Mohamad Ali for example.

It's definitely telling to see Billy here at 23:30 saying he has avoided the finger pointing school of comedy. When that is precisely what he became once he married Pam. And his comedy suffered badly for it in my opinion. He was a legend of comedy up to the late 80's I reckon. Since 2000 or so he's an embarrasment to his former comedic genius. Still a fan of his early stuff and can and indeed do still watch it occasionally.

His rants on political correctness are great and much more relevant today than they were then- one from 2007 e.g.
I'm indeed not sure if Pamela was good for him. Devouring mother type, so probably not. But that's how it went.
I guess that's what bad psychologists do. He got evermore infantile when before he was the man in the house

Not at all. In fact, I'd say that his more timeless stuff came from the next 10 or so years after this, not before. Although I suppose it's predictable that the more gammon-y types whining about "political correctness" would also be the ones to put the blame on the wife.. kind of funny, really.

@@linusp9316 Wrong. It does seem as if Pamela wore the trousers and Billy chose to render responsibilty to her. You don't marry your therapist. Very bad choice for any man.
