dude... THANK YOU just got myself the watch and im LOVING it, your vids are the best straight to the point explanations of the more advanced uses of this thing. absolute loving them, thank you again
Hey...thanks for the comment, really pleased you've found the videos helpful! I keep thinking about 'upgrading' but am still very happy with my Fenix 6 pro more than 3yrs later....
@@TheRunningMaster well....... actually it is my second Garmin. I started with the forerunner45 but I lost it while climbing a rock 😒 because the straps got loose. So because I do a lot of hiking and Running in unknown places, I needed a GPS. But Garmin is such a pain in the A....!!! I am a Mac-user and I am used to "computer-things- made-easy" (that's why I use Mac) but Garmin get's me pissed off every time! It is so NOT consumer friendly I nearly start crying! The watch has toooooo much options hidden in toooo much different places, toooo much different apps to work with and basecamp is soooooo complicated! Now I have an expensive watch with lots of features but I don't have a clue how they could work together and I am spending all of my precious time looking for an up-to-date tutorial about the Fenix 6, basecamp and the Garmin explore app. why doesn't Garmin provide for all that??? The latest video on basecamp on the Garmin RUclips channel is from 5 years ago!!! so, if you get give me a tip of where I can find a good, clear, tutorial of those 3 items (and not like 100's of hours!) tell me, because I get pissed off from Garmin 🤬
@@TheRunningMaster I purchased the Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar, great watch with tons of features. But after heart surgery in February, I realized that the watch was probably overkill. I sent it back and ended up purchasing the 6X Pro for 1/2 the price of the 7X SS. The 6X Pro has everything I need. For the period of time that I had the 7X SS, I was testing out the solar charging. It seemed ineffective really, not worth the extra money. And the sapphire glass is nice, but again, not worth another $100. The one thing I liked on the 7X SS was the touch screen, but I can do just fine without it. I don't feel that I gave up anything really in getting the 6X Pro brand new for $500!
Great video. I am waiting to receive mine and my main reason for getting it is to not get lost when mountain biking or hunting. Is there a way to mark your current position and go back to it?
Thanks Broc. Yes it is possible, need to mark a waypoint and then you can navigate to it. Bit complicated to explain here but have planned to include in a video coming soon. 👍🏃♂️🎥
Thank you for your informative video. I was wondering if you could help? I do a lot of birding and Bush walks. Is there a way to return to start without having to follow your track and instead return in a straight line. This would show the most direct route back to where I have parked my car. Thanks.
Great video mate.. I’m having problems with my grid referencing and I’m wondering if you can help. I have calibrated my compass, altimeter and barometer. & I have my format set at British grid and on mils. However when I ask my for my watch to give me a grid reference it is way off. For reference I live near Birmingham and when I ask for a grid reference it gives me a grid off the coast of Cornwall in the ocean. I also have a Fenix 6 Pro Thanks in advance
Thanks for the video. Outside of zooming in and out during a run, is it possible on the Garmin Fenix 6 to navigate north/south/east/west on the map (with the arrow) as we can do when we use the map function outside of an activity? Thanks for your answer.
Thanks, it’s a clear illustration although pretty short and brief maps function. May I ask if I can use it to navigate while I am in the sky eg ignore walking path or roads’ turn-by-turn suggestions. I just need a line-of-sight direction to certain destinations. Cheers from Bangkok!
Thanks for watching and hope was useful...it is a balance between giving enough info and making into a feature film! Not sure it would work while in the sky, maybe the Garmin Aviator would do that. If you're a pilot though, guess there are other instruments for that! 👍
@@ss22076 wow, that's really cool. You might be able to use the sight 'n go feature. I've not used it personally but from what I've read it could be what you are after.
Thank you for the video. Do you know how to have the navigation on during a run whilst using headphones so instead of looking at the watch it will verbally tell you to turn left or right etc?
Hi! If I got the question right, you mean the watch face? When you start to customise the watch face you want, scroll down to Bkgd Color, select that and then press up or down to change. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hello I just got my fenix 6 pro solar today I’m indoors and when I look at the map it just shows America Kansas do I need to go outside to activate my location?
It doesn't do a bad job but isn't completely perfect. Fairly sure it won't track naps as could just as easily be sitting still for a long time. If I wake in the night and can't sleep, I'm effectively awake but the watch will tell me I was asleep and well rested. A bit like the steps which are not perfect due to toothbrushing, drinking, using a screwdriver, stirring a saucepan etc the sleep thing is a guide and should really be used over the long term instead of day by day.
@@TheRunningMaster Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know what you mean. But I also got a Samsung Fit2 Pro which I bought for about $100. It shows my sleeping patterns more accurate. I just expected to get a better or the same results from Fenix 6 pro which costed me 10 times more :)
My map seems to be stuck on a previous location. How do I update to a current GPS locations. So when I use the features your showing me, it’s giving me all the around me data etc but for a location three hours away lol
That's a bit odd, GPS shouldn't need to be refreshed, it should pick up your current position. I'm guessing you are not searching for something where the nearest one is miles away?! Does the map show you at the correct location? If not, I don't want to advise you badly and try something that could cause a problem. A simple on/off does solve many things and should be safe.
Hi Nathan, when you go into activities and scroll down there should eventually be an option to 'add new' which will bring up all the different activity types.
I've just got a fenix 6 gps, When i go onto the map option it's just giving me a black screen with the north arrow and my possition arrow, anyone know how to fix this?
Hi, great video. I'm new to garmin. I'm trying to create a map for hiking. It's using Google maps which is on my tablet. When I come to a bridge the route won't go over it and always goes around. I've also noticed this on some shortcuts on footpaths while trying to make a cycle map for near home. Do you know how solve this? I'm thinking it must be a fault with Google maps but I'm not sure how to proceed. Hope this makes sense. Any help would be appreciated . ATB Peter

Very informative.. just what I was looking for 👍👍👍👍
Glad you found the channel...and found the video useful. Many thanks! 👍🏃♂️
The Fenix 6 does NOT have maps. Only the 6 Pro, as I found out after I bought it.
Hahaha
Definitely a click bait video smh lol, I’ve been trying to figure out this as well. Specifically pertaining to maps on the fenix 6 non pro model
Glad I read this before buying one!
Another great update. Thanks mate. Really appreciate these vids 👍

very clear, short themes, short and useful!😀

do you use saphire or standart edition? since i am curios about fenix 6 maps and fenis 7 standart edition watches maps

Garmin 745 does not have maps, only basic Garmin course Navigation
You should have shown us the themes ☹
