    13:48 - I'm portuguese and I couldn't agree more with both of your statements. The Pink Street is just one of the many tourist "attractions" that Lisbon is full of but the real, worthy tourist attractions are the back streets, the alleys and the staircases that almost always have something worth discovering in them. 🙂

    Hello again, most evidence points to either a cathedral in Seville in Spain or in Santa Domingo, the capital of the Dominican republic. So if you pay your money you can take your choice. But Seville is another beautiful city for a short break with the cathedral which has a tower that had ramps that allowed the Knights and their horses to reach the top of the tower, nearby is the Alhambra palace which was build by the Moors. Also close by is the Jewish quarter with it's curved passages to stop archers getting a bead on fleeing people, also in the Jewish quarter is a fantastic array of beautiful courtyard gardens

    You were in Lisbon two full days, yes? Did you just enjoy the second day much more than the first, because it seems your highlights of the first day were cut short, at least compared to the second day.

      A bit of a complicated one to explain. We had a great time both days (though Day 2 WAS our favorite, hands down), but simply found a lot of the footage of us exploring before the Christmas market to be less interesting (by RUclips video standards, of course; we still enjoyed ourselves) than what came the following day. And then AFTER the Christmas market, we just wanted to spend a few hours not worrying about the camera, so the footage really does jump between those 2 shots without anything to bridge them. 😅
      But again, both days were great. Sometimes we spend a few hours wandering aimlessly, popping into shops, seeing what we come across, and the footage gets condensed in favor of showing something more unique a bit sooner. Other times, we just put the camera away and be normal tourists for a while. But we're (almost) always having a fun time in those spaces between the shots.
      That said, this of course means there's plenty of unseen footage. We can't remember if we said this in another comment, but we've played around with the idea of releasing some kind of "supercut" of the different phases of this trip with nearly every bit of footage edited in. Maybe down the road, if enough people are interested (as the majority of it is random behind-the-scenes, aimless city wandering, hostel and travel woes, weird inside jokes, etc.).

      Sadly very true. 😕 But all things considered, we got pretty lucky throughout the trip. Only had a few places where the weather was notably bad (a 3-day stretch of pouring rain in Bordeaux springs to mind).

    Another fun vid from my favourite pair of wandering Yankee Doodles.
    I read some of your comments on another one that said you made a return trip to Edinburgh towards the end of your vacation. Did Brian end up succumbing and buying the sword that he was clearly in love with?

    There is a statue down by the water edge to commemorate the Portuguese explorers and close to the statue on the opposite side of the main road is a Cathedral which claims to have the body of Christopher Columbus, one of three or four in Europe that all claim his body.

      So what was the cinema experience? Were you the only ones in there? ..and generally how did it compare with the US?

    • @qlctravels
      @qlctravels  8 месяцев назад +1

      People started walking in about 5 minutes before the start, and there WERE previews, but only about 3. Overall it wasn't dramatically different to the U.S., but it was bizarre not having about a dozen people in the theatre 15 minutes beforehand with random ads, and movie trivia, and other pointless videos playing on screen. Definitely makes more sense to just show up at the start time, watch a few short previews, and then the movie. I suppose that's just the advertising culture here in the States. 🤷 Got a captive audience in the theatre? Gotta try to sell them things.
