Not a luthier myself (I do play tho) but you always give me excellent ideas and get my creative juices flowing for my furniture designs.

For a while there I thought you were going to leave the sides of the neck stained 🤣

I'm sure the final result will be another gorgeous piece of art, can't wait to see it finished!
Don't you think that the joint on the neck exactly all along where the truss road is placed, could weaken it considering the force impressed by the truss road itself? (this is not intended to be a critic to your work, just a simple question 😊)
As I'm writing this comment I just realised that normally there's a similar joint between the neck and tie fretboard, so I believe the answer would be "no"...

Thanks! Yes, the joins crossed my mind too, but they should be okay. That’s what I like about this use what you’ve got challenge. Throw all caution to the wind and take a few risks.

Yes, I'm sure they will be okay. Fender built one piece necks with maple fretboard where the truss road is installed on the back of the neck, on a routed cavity that was closed by a glued wood layer (you know this better than me 😉). This surely proves that these joins are safe when they're well done.

The direction of the load imposed on the wood from the truss rod being bent will be almost entirely up/down. That is unlikely to open the joint (which would require significant sideways forces). To be honest I doubt its all that different to a 1-piece neck with the load in that direction.

      Yes @@dnizy, you're absolutely right.
