Hi! I realize I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I hope you've made a "go bag" with emergency supplies, meds, etc., in case the fires do get closer. Also, one thing I took the time to do was scan or take photos of important legal documents and I keep them on my phone. Better safe than sorry, especially since it is so rare to have fires in NYC/NJ. I can’t tell you how it makes me feel to watch your sweet videos! They are so soothing. I totally understand about wanting your home to feel like it’s giving you a hug…I feel the same! I volunteer at a Christian thrift store near home once or twice a week. I find the most awesome treasures there! Plus, it’s wonderful therapy for me. I have met so many really awesome people. I have lived in Northwestern Arizona for the past five years this coming January, and we moved here from York, Pennsylvania. It has been a real adjustment for me to move to the desert. I love rainy, foggy days, lush vegetation and distinct seasons. We haven’t had rain since May, and it’s now almost the middle of December. I hope you soon have enough precipitation that your fire risk ceases and you have an adequate water supply. I love Charlie’s little sweaters, and he’s quite a good model! We’ve had those little electric fire stoves before, but I don’t remember the 🔥 being that realistic. We have a wood-burning fireplace, but we’ve never had a fire in it. I’ve thought that a gas insert would be more useful, but we’d have to get a small propane tank for it. I love all your tips for making your home cozier during the seasonal change, and I definitely love the tip about using candles starting at dusk. I hope that you and Charlie have a wonderful, warm weekend! 😊❤

So sorry Kate to hear about the wildfires. My family have lost their homes in two major wildfires, in California and here where I live on Maui😭. It's terribly unsettling and I wish rain upon you.🌧🌨 Nothing is or ever will be "normal" again regarding the weather. Take care and thanks you for sharing your life with us. My sister moved from CA to NY. I agree...after a couple of visits to NY to visit I noticed huge difference in the moods of the people. Your home is beautiful and cozy. I don't like fires either. I actually lost a home in a wildfire 12 years ago and it was an awful experience. We get wildfires what seems too frequently these days. We just had another one about a week ago about 5 miles from my house. The firefighters got it under control quickly and then we had a drenching rain a day or so later. I will never get used to them.

The leaves are still falling and we have had virtually no rain for weeks. I am thrilled for you on getting your sewing machine. Starting out it's fun to make cloth napkins for practice on the basics. Going forward, backward and even a zig zag stitch. With your creative ability you'll be making all kinds of things soon.

The best fashion show I have ever seen! Because of the model of course! I heard a woman on t.v. talking about her cat. She said do you ever look at your pet and think…Are you real? Because they are so cute and so sweet! When you were cuddling with Charlie on the couch, I thought of that. When I look at my cat Daisy, I feel so privileged that I get to care for this little creature who gives me so much love in return. I live on the Oregon coast which has moderate temperatures due to the Pacific Ocean. Last year the unthinkable happened and a lightening strike started a fire a few miles outside of town. It burned for over a month and turned into the nations top priority fire. I would go outside and see low hanging smoke and ash falling from the sky. I still have anxiety when I hear the sound of helicopters flying overhead. It was finally put out by a rare fall atmospheric river but not before it burned through a wilderness area filled with endangered Port Orford Cedars with a 200 foot canopy. I know the anxiety you are experiencing and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Your cottage is looking so welcoming! Very warm and cozy. I'm hoping to achieve that too. I think winter therapeutic rituals are necessary for most people. I have crochet projects most years. A couple years ago I made 6 grandchildren and my husband afghans. I don't feel inspired that way this year but perhaps something not so big like scarfs. I stocked up on beeswax to make candles and salves so I think several small projects in the works.

I am making my home cozy too....blankets, candles (battery operated), soups, sweaters. I also have a tradition of making a grapevine wreath for my front door. I am planning my Thanksgiving menu and decorations and trying to do so minimal Xmas shopping.

I grew up in New York. This is the normal weather we had until about 20 years ago when they started geoengineering. It's the geoengineering & cloud seeding that makes the NY weather so gray & wet. It never used to be that way. Please people it's time to get up to speed what is actually happening. Otherwise we will not be able to address it.

Oh my goodness, I just bought a faux fireplace heater like yours. I wanted one since last winter but thought it was cheesy n reminded me of the 1970s fake fireplaces. I don’t care, it brings me joy each evening as it gets dark too soon. 🔥
Living out west, we have been in a draught also. We finally have started to get some rain!! Time change for me is ruff. It takes me a few weeks to get accustomed to it. Dark here by 5:30. I too, have issues with the darkness. I stay down south at the beach a lot in winter.
Hello, great video thank you for sharing. I do like and prefer candlelight the battery operated candles are a great way to add light with the real candle flame. So cosy I also layer up on my sofas, lots of warm textures cushions too my bedroom the same battery operated timer candles look pretty good in my bedroom come the evening it's warm and subtle lighting creates shadows, My kitchen / diner also has colourful cushions around the table lots of small white lights for the early morning it adds warmth we are similar in our colour palette choices. I absolutely love your cottage. The decorating is perfect. That is the style I try to have in my house but the putting it together doesn't come to me as easy as it seems to come to you. I told myself I was going to watch your video and then clean. So now I have to wash dishes and not be tempted to watch another one of your videos.
My chihuahua has the same sweater. Got his at Walmart about 2 yrs ago! IN Alaska ! It's my favorite too ! My guy , a rescue ,I named " Little Man", is probably twice as tall, w/ long legs. His body is probably 3 x bigger. Sometimes hard to find sweaters long enough. He has alot of the same tri color markings . Has been mistaken for a " min pin". 😊❤
@littlebohocottage Yes, 2 days after I got him, he tried to "dominate" a full grown male black lab ! Hence, the name, lol. Like the little guy walking into a bar of bikers, picking a fight ! Lol. But he truly feels he's a Alfa Male Grizzly ! He decided to go after a wolverine, ( they take down bears !) in April that was under my truck ! $1100 vet bill, very lucky to have his right eye as the wolverine bit him in the head/ face. Shredded his right leg from shoulder to elbow. Seen the wolverine again crossing my property in June. It had its hind left leg high off the ground and was very skinny. Didn't realize til telling this story to a friend, they replied, "Well Little Man got him !" My protector that I have to protect him , from his attitude !! 😂

One of my friends and I were talking about minimalist spaces and we both feel that minimalism is overrated (just our opinion, it's great for those that thrive in that style). Mint is very easy to grow and there are so many fun flavors like strawberry mint, orange mint and chocolate mint. I got those plants from my local Ace. Now I have them inside by my windows.

The NE has been very dry this year. Here in SE Virginia we’ve been dry as well, although we finally received 2” of rain last night! Keep it cozy on the inside!!
I LOVE Charlie so much! He sure reminds me of my chiweenie. Same color. Twinkle lights - no never too many. I leave a strand up in kitchen year round! Speaking of ...firepit ...I use my orange Halloween string lights in my firepit for ambience on windy nights etc. Just toss them in over fire wood! Easy Peasy and water proof 👍 Looks so realistic at night! Check thrift stores or dollar general since after Halloween (cheap) kisses to Charlie

I was just sitting down with my morning coffee when I saw you’d posted this video Kate! What a wonderful way to start my weekend. Your observations about light and people’s behaviour is so interesting. I wonder if it’s related to their vitamin D levels. It’s almost always hot and sunny where I live but I don’t do so well in it, especially with menopause, lol. I would LOVE to live somewhere it gets really cold! I love your fall videos, the colours, the sounds, the skys, the migrating birds etc. I think Charlie looks SO cute in his little jumpers and jackets and I really enjoyed his little fashion show! Does he have any little shoes for his feet in winter? I remember that last year you didn’t have much snow so I wonder if you think that’s part of why the Hudson is so dry now? I hope and pray you have more this year as I feel that would help the environment recover, especially when the spring melt comes. The fires must be quite disconcerting for everyone living there, since you don’t usually experience them. I live in a city so even when there are wildfires here (Australia) I don’t experience the stress of worrying about my home, although I do worry for the people and wildlife that are effected. I am so in awe of firefighters and their bravery. I love, love, love how you’ve decorated your little home. It is SO cozy, warm and happy and the layering and colors are perfection and the candles add another layer. A perfect way to relax with tea, homemade cookies and a book 🫖🍪📚🕯️😍 I love sewing too and I hope you really enjoy learning. It’s so satisfying to make your own clothing. Did you know you can buy little labels to sew into clothes you make that say things like “One of a kind” or “made with love” etc. they’re fun to use and give a nice finishing touch. Hi! I realize I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I hope you've made a "go bag" with emergency supplies, meds, etc., in case the fires do get closer. Also, one thing I took the time to do was scan or take photos of important legal documents and I keep them on my phone. Better safe than sorry, especially since it is so rare to have fires in NYC/NJ. I can’t tell you how it makes me feel to watch your sweet videos! They are so soothing. I totally understand about wanting your home to feel like it’s giving you a hug…I feel the same! I volunteer at a Christian thrift store near home once or twice a week. I find the most awesome treasures there! Plus, it’s wonderful therapy for me. I have met so many really awesome people. I have lived in Northwestern Arizona for the past five years this coming January, and we moved here from York, Pennsylvania. It has been a real adjustment for me to move to the desert. I love rainy, foggy days, lush vegetation and distinct seasons. We haven’t had rain since May, and it’s now almost the middle of December. I hope you soon have enough precipitation that your fire risk ceases and you have an adequate water supply. I love Charlie’s little sweaters, and he’s quite a good model! We’ve had those little electric fire stoves before, but I don’t remember the 🔥 being that realistic. We have a wood-burning fireplace, but we’ve never had a fire in it. I’ve thought that a gas insert would be more useful, but we’d have to get a small propane tank for it. I love all your tips for making your home cozier during the seasonal change, and I definitely love the tip about using candles starting at dusk. I hope that you and Charlie have a wonderful, warm weekend! 😊❤

So sorry Kate to hear about the wildfires. My family have lost their homes in two major wildfires, in California and here where I live on Maui😭. It's terribly unsettling and I wish rain upon you.🌧🌨 Nothing is or ever will be "normal" again regarding the weather. Take care and thanks you for sharing your life with us. My sister moved from CA to NY. I agree...after a couple of visits to NY to visit I noticed huge difference in the moods of the people. Your home is beautiful and cozy. I don't like fires either. I actually lost a home in a wildfire 12 years ago and it was an awful experience. We get wildfires what seems too frequently these days. We just had another one about a week ago about 5 miles from my house. The firefighters got it under control quickly and then we had a drenching rain a day or so later. I will never get used to them.

The best fashion show I have ever seen! Because of the model of course! I heard a woman on t.v. talking about her cat. She said do you ever look at your pet and think…Are you real? Because they are so cute and so sweet! When you were cuddling with Charlie on the couch, I thought of that. When I look at my cat Daisy, I feel so privileged that I get to care for this little creature who gives me so much love in return. I live on the Oregon coast which has moderate temperatures due to the Pacific Ocean. Last year the unthinkable happened and a lightening strike started a fire a few miles outside of town. It burned for over a month and turned into the nations top priority fire. I would go outside and see low hanging smoke and ash falling from the sky. I still have anxiety when I hear the sound of helicopters flying overhead. It was finally put out by a rare fall atmospheric river but not before it burned through a wilderness area filled with endangered Port Orford Cedars with a 200 foot canopy. I know the anxiety you are experiencing and I will keep you in my thoughts.

I think winter therapeutic rituals are necessary for most people. I have crochet projects most years. A couple years ago I made 6 grandchildren and my husband afghans. I don't feel inspired that way this year but perhaps something not so big like scarfs. I stocked up on beeswax to make candles and salves so I think several small projects in the works.

I am making my home cozy too....blankets, candles (battery operated), soups, sweaters. I also have a tradition of making a grapevine wreath for my front door. I am planning my Thanksgiving menu and decorations and trying to do so minimal Xmas shopping.

I grew up in New York. This is the normal weather we had until about 20 years ago when they started geoengineering. It's the geoengineering & cloud seeding that makes the NY weather so gray & wet. Living out west, we have been in a draught also. We finally have started to get some rain!! Time change for me is ruff. It takes me a few weeks to get accustomed to it. Dark here by 5:30. I too, have issues with the darkness. I stay down south at the beach a lot in winter.

Hello, great video thank you for sharing. I do like and prefer candlelight the battery operated candles are a great way to add light with the real candle flame. So cosy I also layer up on my sofas, lots of warm textures cushions too my bedroom the same battery operated timer candles look pretty good in my bedroom come the evening it's warm and subtle lighting creates shadows, My kitchen / diner also has colourful cushions around the table lots of small white lights for the early morning it adds warmth we are similar in our colour palette choices. Love the visit to your home it's so cosy you are such a natural lady you make your visitors feel very welcome thank you very much . Hugs to you both. 💚🌹

I absolutely love your cottage. The decorating is perfect. That is the style I try to have in my house but the putting it together doesn't come to me as easy as it seems to come to you. I told myself I was going to watch your video and then clean. So now I have to wash dishes and not be tempted to watch another one of your videos.

My chihuahua has the same sweater. Got his at Walmart about 2 yrs ago! IN Alaska ! It's my favorite too ! My guy , a rescue ,I named " Little Man", is probably twice as tall, w/ long legs. His body is probably 3 x bigger. Sometimes hard to find sweaters long enough. He has alot of the same tri color markings . Has been mistaken for a " min pin". 😊❤

Yes, 2 days after I got him, he tried to "dominate" a full grown male black lab ! Hence, the name, lol. Like the little guy walking into a bar of bikers, picking a fight ! Lol. But he truly feels he's a Alfa Male Grizzly ! He decided to go after a wolverine, ( they take down bears !) in April that was under my truck !
$1100 vet bill, very lucky to have his right eye as the wolverine bit him in the head/ face. Shredded his right leg from shoulder to elbow.
Seen the wolverine again crossing my property in June. It had its hind left leg high off the ground and was very skinny. Didn't realize til telling this story to a friend, they replied, "Well Little Man got him !" My protector that I have to protect him , from his attitude !! 😂

One of my friends and I were talking about minimalist spaces and we both feel that minimalism is overrated (just our opinion, it's great for those that thrive in that style). I love your hair, Kate, it looks beautiful! I live in New Mexico so very familiar with fires. I’m originally from the mid-Atlantic area so know that wild fires are not a usual thing there at all. I am sending my rain prayers to your region. As we’re in a La Niña year, I suspect you may be in for a wet winter and my region, while receiving some big snow recently, may be become dry. Mint is very easy to grow and there are so many fun flavors like strawberry mint, orange mint and chocolate mint. I got those plants from my local Ace. Now I have them inside by my windows.

I LOVE Charlie so much! He sure reminds me of my chiweenie. Same color. Twinkle lights - no never too many. I leave a strand up in kitchen year round! Speaking of ...firepit ...I use my orange Halloween string lights in my firepit for ambience on windy nights etc. Just toss them in over fire wood! Easy Peasy and water proof 👍 Looks so realistic at night! Check thrift stores or dollar general since after Halloween (cheap) kisses to Charlie

I remember that last year you didn’t have much snow so I wonder if you think that’s part of why the Hudson is so dry now? I hope and pray you have more this year as I feel that would help the environment recover, especially when the spring melt comes.
The fires must be quite disconcerting for everyone living there, since you don’t usually experience them. I live in a city so even when there are wildfires here (Australia) I don’t experience the stress of worrying about my home, although I do worry for the people and wildlife that are effected. I am so in awe of firefighters and their bravery.
I love, love, love how you’ve decorated your little home. It is SO cozy, warm and happy and the layering and colors are perfection and the candles add another layer. A perfect way to relax with tea, homemade cookies and a book 🫖🍪📚🕯️😍
I love sewing too and I hope you really enjoy learning. It’s so satisfying to make your own clothing. Did you know you can buy little labels to sew into clothes you make that say things like “One of a kind” or “made with love” etc. they’re fun to use and give a nice finishing touch. I have wondered if you still find time for painting?
