Burnt: yes. I listened to the sermon. A very good sermon. But my concern was raised when he said that one didn’t want to be the one whose zeal was the cause of a church split.
After pastoring for more than forty years, my concern was that he didn’t list anything about persecution, power struggles, or confronting false doctrine or traditions
I wish those things had been taught to me.

My understanding is that he wanted to present those things seminary cannot teach you, not those things that seminary did not teach you. The intangibles he called them, and while he spent most of the message on background he did address three of the many things seminary can not teach a student. The issues you presented are certainly important and should be addressed by those training Pastors but are not really in the scope of this message.
“We don’t know if that scribal note is accurate but if it is….” and the next several points are based on something that is possibly not true. As for the others complaint what he didn’t teach about other struggles, those things are clear in the scriptures, written out, and there for your edification. Show thyself approved. By now you ought to be teachers. Yes, I fell for the comment section, and now I realize why GTY has their comments turned off. It’s so old men like us don’t spend our time swapping wits. Obviously this sweet brother has never faced down a deacon who hates him. Or a “Spirit-filled”’ Sunday School teacher determined to split the church, or a drunk youth pastor. Ministry is more than just pleasing people.
I'm sure that Nathan has endured such things and far worse. He never said that ministry is about pleasing people.
