- Once one egg is starting to hatch, that means the entire clutch is ready. A small hole can be made in the shell to allow the baby to get out in case their egg tooth isn't developed well enough.

Kinda weird, right? But somehow relaxing, as if tiny bits of weight are removed... So you don't worry about why you don't feel worse about a death. When my mom died, the worst part was not feeling worse. I felt so abnormal, but in actuality, I had already mourned for her. I knew she was dying, so it wasn't that bad when it happened, but I felt SO guilty for not feeling more... I know some will be upset I am writing this on a pet post, I don't mean to upset anyone. However, every episode they have shown with bad eggs or still borns HAS helped me in tiny bits! It's all a process in the chemistry of the brain, but that info hasn't been much help. Feeling less like a freak for feeling something different than other people has been a savior.

We took some baby gecko eggs out of our front yard, the only reason we took them was because it would rain very hard every night, the next day we checked where we found the eggs the next day and it was completely flooded, long story short the eggs all hatched and I checked them with a flashlight before even trying, one of them looked empty but ended up still hatching, and you inspired me to do this. We released them after the hatched.

A s h some would’ve gotten eaten regardless if they were released or if they were hatched normally. It’s how life is. Yes, it’s sad, but other animals need to eat. Death is a completely normal thing

Keep up the good work, the world needs more people like you. Also, I realize you are human, you aren't ALWAYS nice, you do things off camera. I don't want perfection from anyone, I really appreciate you being you. Both of you.
It's sad but I do admire these guys being absolutely up front about how their eggs do, showing what happens if they don't develop properly etc. I think it's sad but also interesting, I guess these things happen in nature.

My 1st reptile was a fatty. I worked at Petco and it wasn't doing well. We thought "he" was being bullied. So I took him home and got him into Amazon shape. I wanted to have a tankmate now that he was big enough. Turns out he was a she and she was the bully to begin with. She killed her tankmate in less than a day. Regardless, she was so sweet, she'd sit on my shoulder all the time and was a cricket hunting machine!

Fat tailed geckos are my favorite reptiles, they are what got me into the reptile community. I’m getting a Leopard Gecko first because my dads friend breeds them, but I hope to have a fat-tailed gecko in the future

I raise leopard gecko's and like to think I'm a lil bit of an expert on hatching. Sorry to post it here. I have found that if a baby geckos is unable to get out of it's egg you will get a kinked tail. It does not hurt them to very gently squeeze the other end of the egg to help baby get out. Of course only do this with babies that are already out of the egg for the most part and do not squeeze hard. You guys are awesome. Feel free to contact me with questions. I cut a skink egg once to save him. he was stuck half way and running around with and egg stuck on his back end. he thought I was his mama. I miss him. my cat killed him.

What do you do with the reptiles that don't make it?
Either save them for educational purposes, or feed them to another animal. That way nothing gets wasted :)

Love your vids do egg eaters lay eggs if so how do they resist eating them
they only eat bird eggs, snake eggs don't have a hard shell like a bird's does. also they probably don't eat at all during incubation, because of the hormones

My dad's friend has a leopard gecko and he's so sweet but he was a little skittish when she first got him and he hid a lot. The other day he managed to sneak out of his Viv and Julie came home to find him sat in the middle of the living room.

Its hard to decide when to cut with geckos though they have a longer and more variable time frame in the egg. I have cut thinking it was time because the clutch mate was out, but it was underdeveloped.

Might be a dumb question but are fat tail geckos the same as leopard geckos? 🦎
They look very similar but they are in fact different species :) One difference is that leopard geckos have longer tails.

Fat tails are from africa while leopard geckos are more from the middle east i believe. And yes fat tails are known to get addicted to crickets tho mine eat purly meal worms and the occasional dubia

Mike Gregory All eggs have those fluids inside of them. Reptile or otherwise. It contains nutrients for the baby to absorb and grow from, as well as the baby itself.
