I agree, but the current trend in competition icedance is to skate fast around the rink as it's considered technically more difficult. But as a famous icedancer once said, "it's Ice Dance not downhill skiing!"
It's not a "fast" song, and the choreography fits it perfectly. The Russians always have a very frenetic pace to their programs, and it works for them. It doesn't mean it has to work for everyone

So exciting! 👏👏 I'm interested to hear you say it wasn't on Eurosport, as UK was geoblocked from the ISU channel because it supposedly was? I gave up my Eurosport subscription last year as ISU were allowing UK viewing. Then this season it has all changed again. When I couldn't see the livestream videos ready to be counted down, I got really worried and installed the Opera browser with VPN, it was free. Just turn on VPN in settings. I only use the browser to watch the skating. Sadly on the night of the FD the picture and sound quality was poorer but still watchable. You might have to fiddle with the VPN country as when I tried to rewatch I was geoblocked as it had gone back to default America setting as I didn’t buy the trial. But that had it's compensations as I could see the NBC videos so you would've had that instead. But Johnny Weir talked all over it and I couldn't bear it! You could barely hear the music. But thankfully I tinkered with the VPN and then got access back to ISU. I left it a day or two before uploading incase of copyright. 🙏
