Still work to be done - I have had this installed for a week so far and here are my thoughts. Looks slick - quite understated. Decent build quality. At first the doorbell was picking up all motion - even when set to human (even outside the activity zones). Every passing car triggered recording. Now this has been fixed in ver 2.2.0.0. Still it captures humans walking by outside the activity zone - needs to be fixed - Eufy has told me 2-3 weeks. Video can be jerky at 2K resolution and delays in audio between me and people at the door. If I change the setting to low video quality compression (1600 x 1200) this resolves video smoothness and audio delay. Apparently this will be improved and is also an issue with the iPhone which they are fixing. Battery lasted for 5 days in week one! Week 2 is better but have already lost 2 bars - probably because everyone walking past still triggers the recording. This has to improve as so far the battery life is terrible vs my Eufycam’s. The Homebase chime is loud and clear. Cannot get it to connect to my Echo Dot to chime though - despite it enabled in the Alexa app and doorbell press activated. More work to be done on the firmware and in a month or so reviews will probably be more representative of what the doorbell is capable of...
While Eufy is absolutely my first choice for a smart doorbell, fwiw, although 256 bit encryption is what you want for smart home device security, the term “military grade” means nothing. It is a marketing term, nothing more.
Thanks sir been researching door cams so this helps out. Have arlos cams but gonna go with this seems arlo takes a while to pull up live feed no thumbnail and this has NO monthly subscription. Love the local storage and that it will still record if wifi drops. Thanks for all your knowledge 🙏
Your Arlo is wired isnt it ?? means its always recording and also means the notifications will pop up straight away. This would be the same with the wired Eufy doorbell. Battery doorbells need to wake up when they detect movement and then decide if it needs to send a notification. Also having human detection and thumbnails slows it all down too. Bit of an unfair comparison to the Arlo really
Is there a link to what the Eufy recorded announcements are? I know you can record your own but I'm thinking of elderly lady trying to see if there are male voices and is there a good amount of answers to choose from? Thanks
How can this be considered a security camera when the video is stored on the device. All a thief has to do is steal the device and theres no proof anyone was there.

The local storage is definitely one of the big things I am looking for in a doorbell. The other big feature for me is the doorbell being wireless since my home does not have doorbell wiring available.
So just to confirm, you can wire or run off of battery and it works with a preexisting chime? Are you able to mute either of the chimes and just get notifications? We have a dog that does not like hearing the doorbell.
The pre-existing chime will only work if it's wired. If you don't have it wired then the HomeBase will chime. If you need additional chimes you can use your Echo devices to announce someone has rung the doorbell. And yes, you can mute the chime on the HomeBase and just get phone notifications.
Your reviews are so thorough! We had been debating the Arlo and the Eufy, but your review comparing the top four doorbell cameras helped us decide. What sort of range does this camera get for sound? Like, would it pick up the crazy neighbor yelling at our house from the sidewalk?

Right now I have the Ring Alarm, August lock, and Ecobee thermostat. St patrick's day is the wife's birthday so hopefully we will win!
Actually that usb port on the back of the HomeBase 2 will be for external storage soon maximum 128GB. It says in the eufy security app -> HomeBase settings -> video storage -> question mark icon top right

First of all thank you so much for your detailed video. I do have a quick question / issue on Homebase2 connection to my router. I do have tp-link Deco X20 mesh system, when I try to connect my homebase2 with the internet , it has blue blinking light only and then I could see error message "Network Exception, please try again later." With an error screen titled "Unable to add HoemBase2". Could you please help me out? I tried everything reset, unplug power cable, router restart, reset button on homebase2 but it just keep blinking blue led. Help would be highly appreciated 🙏🏼

Local storage is good except they need an sd slot so you can add your own sd card (up to 1tb). They have limited your storage to 16gb presumably having a way to delete unwanted ones and I would hope it records motion as the person approaches. Rings chime is compatible with the wireless doorbell, and comes with many sounds that you can choose from. It appears that with Eufy you can have any color you want as long as it is BLACK. At one time (not sure if they do it today) RING had a policy that if your door bell was stolen, just call them , they would shut it off, and send you a FREE replacement. Like you I also prefer mine attached with double sided tape. Of course a thief could just pull it off and away he goes with it. But I did like the review, gives me some things to consider when I do my replacement door bell.

Interesting video. Minor debate whether battery or wire. Given that have wire and I'm cheap, expect will go with wired. Surprised how different the two versions are. Almost like two teams developed them.
I am considering getting this doorbell. I am 71 yrs. old and not to savvy on all this crap about setting it up not like you young guys who have a knack for that. I hope to win. My home's front door is opposite my street and garage door. The home builder only put a bell at the front door. I have Eufy cameras and their fantastic, but a battery powered doorbell camera has been on the wishlist for a while. Many delivery personnel don't bother to walk to my front door, but my hope is they'd push a bell at the garage, if mounted near my house number. Looking forward to future support for a homebase with expandable storage, as well.
This is a nice upgrade from the previous model but apparently it no longer has the 3s buffer prior to alert for some reason. I like that it can be hardwired as well especially since the battery is not removable and chargeable outside the device. They may never do it but I personally would like a power over ethernet version since Wifi can be finicky and ethernet is more reliable and secure even though it sometimes is a hassle to install. I also would like it to have a way to easily back it up to a home server instead of there home hub only. This new doorbell may sway me in the meantime though.
I had a package stolen a week and a half ago, and it was a purchased item on behalf of my friend (who gave me the money and I ordered it). So I told my apartment manager and she recommended getting a ring camera (said she has one), so here I am checking out different options. But I live in an apartment and right at 12:00 from my open door is a wall so I would need the camera to pick up if someone came from the side and tried to take a package, even if that person ducked.

Do you have a personal suggestion of the tape I can use that's strong enough and won't fall off. If you loose power to the house, then no. But i'm not sure what would happen if you loose power to the doorbell itself. I'd think the indoor chime should still work. I'll ask them.

What are the voltage requirements to charge the battery?
Hmm, i wasn't able to find that listed on the box or on the site. I started a live chat with customer service and they said, "16 - 24 volts 30VAC"
I like this system better because it has a recording home module, and you can also power this with a power cable and not rely just on the battery.

Some of Amazon reviewers wrote that record starting timing was too late and it captured visitors leaving periods only. Is this true?

How did you install on your door I need to install mines that way since my apartment has no place on the sides of my door where I could put it?
It's battery operated so you could attach it directly on your door.
