Kotaku also has a very detailed article that helped me a lot when I was assembling my PC. Nicely written, divided into neat sections, it was easy to follow and very helpful.
3 months later, I'm back to end the second quest of the Journey. Other videos I watch kept getting behind Schedule and pilling up. When comes to the Journey I like to watch them big bunches and that's exactly what I will do now because I didn't really enjoyed this hiatus.
I always recommend hooking up a monitor when you try to get it to POST. It allows for a visual indicator of whether or not its working. It works out if you don't know the beeps. If you want to know what the beeps mean, just look up motherboard beeps in general, its typically the same pattern of beeps for all boards for each message.

I'm going to be building my second gaming PC build sometime soon! I have all of my parts - just have to find the time to do it. Cool to see your build coming together!
"Mini-ITX is... somethin'" Now he's getting it! I'm watching using my PC. It has a big graphics card and the case is the size of a shoebox. (Dan Cases A4-SFX if anyone is curious) Anyway, an i9 will last you a long time. I look forward to seeing the improvements in quality :D
i would prefer this core 500 case because my budget. if similar one with ncase m1 because bigger 120mm-240mm AIO liquid cooler. option of either LP air cooler is fine.
I used that same case when I built my mom a computer in late 2017. Considering that I occupied the 5.25 bay with a DVD drive from her previous computer, I got away with stuffing the wrapped excess cable length on top of the DVD drive (I used an ATX PSU since my mom is using the stock cooler on her i5-7500, so I didn't have concern for clearance issues). My biggest gripe about that case is that it is stubborn sometimes sliding the case shell back on (although with this case I'm not sure what to call it because it composes of the top and side panels in one piece).
Let it be known that the streaming computer shall now and forever, until the end of time (even after it's dead!) be known as the Streaming Gamecube 2.0!
Micro ATX are always a pain it seems to work around simply because there isn't much real estate to begin with. Overall though you did a great job with the build Stephen.
You talked about local storage. With 3 youtube channels have you considered running a home NAS? They are relatively cheap and can hold as much as you want.
agree, any SFX PSU will work but need bracket to ATX because smaller form factor & shorter cables. should also could used Noctua nh-u9s CPU cooler or if want to go with u12s & bigger heatsink.
i like this case & prefer using fractal design core 500 itx case over this coolermaster elite 130 because can fit CPU cooler from AIR up to 170mm or 280mm radiator liquid AIO cooler. the benefit is the power supply move to the front on bottom. suggest using SFX slimmer power supply because shorter cables. mine winter 2018, asus z370i, i7-8700k, be quiet dark pro 4 cooler, corsair 16gb ddr4, 250gb nvme SSD, 4tb nas backup drive, corsiar SFX 600w power supply & evga geforce gtx 1080 8gb ssc, windows 10 pro. my 8700k was delid & temp are down ~10 C. idle in low 20 C & never got higher under load 60 C. the gtx 1080 GPU has reach ~ 74 C. & still quiet. i had a blu-ray drive install but remove it. i had gtx 1080 since 2017 & dont need rtx card yet because only gaming on 1080p.
Having worked with multiple Core 500s, Fractal Design makes it difficult by re-using the cabling from some much larger model in their lineup. The case comes with an embarrassing amount of slack in its wiring for internal headers etc.
What if Mal customized the case to look like a Gamecube? That would be a cool project.
Krish Khakhar A little paint job might be neat
For all of you going 'I wish I knew how to assemble a PC', LinusTechTips, Jayz Two Cents, Bitwit, etc all have great guides on PC building.
A lot of it can be just putting things where they make sense and connecting one end with a similar looking port.

I knew absolutely nothing about building computers. I now know slightly more.

You always find a way to inspire me ;)
I’m pleasantly surprised at how much this costs, at least from what I thought it would probably add up to.

I got the same keyboard for christmas! I'm using it as my sofa keyboard whenever I watch stuff from the computer to the tv instead :D

This form-factor is reminding me of the old Hot Wheels children's PC so much.

Time lapse hype!!

That CPU cooler is almost bigger than the motherboard holy crapp. :o
let's play . let's build . next up, let's cook .
You talked about local storage. With 3 youtube channels have you considered running a home NAS? They are relatively cheap and can hold as much as you want.
I recommend you to swap your psu for a SFX one like Corsair Sf600/750

Was this done with the new C Stand? You sound so much more rested and relaxed in this video compared to the last one.
I'm building my own computer as well. I have all the parts, I just to find time to assemble it
Shit, that processor beats mine out!
Oh, cool almost as cramped as my own PC :P

That is the biggest CPU heatsink I've ever seen... I knew of Noctua as a pretty hardcore cooling brand, but they really do take it seriously!
that is not big. by any means
noctua had universal mount for their CPU cooler. can use nh-9s or even larger nh-12s or even 14s
There ain't no way you're fitting any kind of GPU in there in the future
MarzHax but he won’t need one? Did you watch the video?
@@blackfox51 but he talked about possibly making it a gaming computer in the future, did you watch the video?
Anyone know if this kinda PC could be used for editing/rendering stuff like Animations or Videos?
Short answer: no. A GPU is key for renders and animation.
I'm here for C418 music.
Cable management? What's that? lol
Having worked with multiple Core 500s, Fractal Design makes it difficult by re-using the cabling from some much larger model in their lineup. The case comes with an embarrassing amount of slack in its wiring for internal headers etc.
I wonder why they didn't water cool it.
Zach Nance Did you see how little space they had?
@@MajorKerina Oh I did. But the pump is smaller than their big Air cooler so the radiator could've had room
Hmmmm....maaaaybe a *slightly* larger case might've been a little better?
"Small" Case.
No GPU?
Thats expensive, too much money for a pleb like me
