Hey I'm a roofer in the UK and your roofing techniques look totally different than ours. Do you ply the whole roof before fitting tiles?

Yes, with either one or two layers of 30lb ASTM roofing felt. Sometimes we come across roofs install with what we call "Glass Base". Glass base or sometimes just referred to as "base" is a fiberglass embedded material that is not best suitable for installation of concrete tiles. But that doesn't stop roofers from telling customers that "this stuff is the best" when installed under concrete or clay roofing tiles. The best roof underlayment I have come across is a "sprinkle mopped" base sheet ply roof membrane under the tile. This can last a very long time. And is the only way you should use base under tile.

@@SouthCountyRoofing they use a similar method in Scotland but in England we use a breathable membrane and then lathe over them and attached the tiles or slate to the lathes.
Do you still use lead flashing over there?

@@callumbush1 No, they are illegal here. We use aluminum or Galvanized steel flashing.

@@SouthCountyRoofing interesting, we still use lead on everything.
