My heart goes out to the Mustang owner. Imagine having all of that work done, and presumably paid for, only to discover that you will have to pay more to have it all torn out just to get back to a point where you can start over. If anyone deserves to have a top shelf car in the end, built exactly the way they want it, it's them! They brought it to the right place this time.
Your work is so incredible.im unfortunately waiting for lung transplant then hopefully I'll get back on my chop on my 31 Ford two door sedan.my work will not be as good as you but I'm trying. Good luck in the new year.
I did 67 mustang convertible all new NOS metal from the firewall forward, new floors and complete three stage paint. It went from my shop to the transmission shop and then back to mine cause the transmission shop ran it into another customers car and destroyed the front end.
With all the work you are doing on the Mustang I can envision Riddler Award material. Or at least the Great Eight Ridler Contender judging. I appreciate the attention to the small details like hood and tail light panel.
I need to come and sweep the floors in your shop for a while just to soak up some knowledge I have several projects I that I could stand to learn some before diving in. I do have some that I plan to use as learning projects before jumping in real deep
Bloody Hell Mike , the rear quarter bits looked like they had been stick welded on or they used pigeon shit to stick them on 😂😂 your doing the right thing buddy chop it out and start again great job mate 😎😎🤘🤘
Nice work. Great insights into stuff ups other builders make. Never thought that people are building twisted cars on rotisseries. Looking forward to the progress this vehicle.
It makes sense. Every single weld expands and then contracts. If it isn't hooked to something solid, it would definitely be warped after that much work.
I always love getting incompetent work in my shop as well that has to be reworked I wish people that aren't experienced would stop pretending they are know exactly how you feel
Great work! How will you or customer or the next owner know, what parts they need for this car? Will he have a list, like tail lights from 70's mustang, rear shock absorbers from another car or the owner just will have to know or research what kind of part that is, that needs to be replaced when it wears out? I love how these high effort custom cars look, but I have no clue, how people are able to maintain them. I know what parts my 2010 VW Passat needs, because every other 2010 VW Passat in general has the same parts.
I've helped friends with cars that were built by blind plumbers and we had to start over. Like everything else if the foundation is bad it'll never be right no matter how many bandaids you put on it
Looking forward when you remake the rear wheel wells . Question all the Cleco holes and the Rosette welds are all done with a tig welder ? Not to much mig welding or none at this point ? Thanks
Did you inspect the fixture before you made decisions on the chassis? I noticed that your fixture is a welded tubular construction rather than a surface plate with machined locations.
Why not replace the whole quarter if they had been replaced once already? Then you wouldn’t have to do all that work in the wheel well removing that garbage work. And you already bought another set to use for those rear sections. Just curious
the rest of the quarter panel is decent over all. with the way they welded it all in there to get the outer quarter skin off it would involve destroying the inner door jams, and some of the interior and convertible top metal. I made the executive decision that it was not worth all of that to replace the full quarter
What is the owner's vision for this car. He had the entire car reworked but evidently recognized that the work was NOT good. So he comes to you and says fix it ; and while you are at it I like a certain year hood and I like "X" year tail lights and, and, and. So is his idea. to have a "restored" Mustang, or a "Custom" Mustang, a "show car" or what.

It's important to have a client that is patient and has the finances put into such a project.

2200 pounds holy cow that’s another vehicle

Yeah, I put a lot of effort into the details!
Looks awesome Mike, great to have a customer that understands what's required to make it right 👍
A little on the intimidating side but cool video ... I like the news letter idea ...
Thanks! I hope to have some more exciting stuff coming.
Please keep us posted on this project!
You bet I will!

Very good explanation
Thanks, I appreciate it!
He made a good choice. That’s an expensive car now but well worth it.
Those old welds look like the came from a dogs back-end

As usual 👍👍keep up the good work 😊
Thanks
Man is that a lot of hackery to undo. Big project or small as long as the customer wants to pay the hourly rate.

@@michaelhallas6450 yes all clecos will be rossette welded with the tig. 99.9% of all of my work is tig work
@ Thank you
Do you use a weld through primer for areas you can’t get to after
@@metalartcustomsLLC yes
Lots of work. Will look good when done. Will leave classic mustang guys trying to figure out all the mods.
the devil's in the detail

It might have been cheaper and faster, to order all new pieces and build it from scratch 😂
Thats pretty much what i did
