Oliver looks great, especially at twice his usual size!
I agree mate!! :D
Are you going to get an O gauge autocoach?
As an oo gauge railway man still love these reviews , detail is great , pity about damage but actually well worth it
Thanks very much Nigel - glad you liked it too! :D

I’m honestly surprised there aren’t more Oliver comments.
haha there's been quite a lot ;)

Are you sure about that?

I'd love that Gally, but my garden is no good for filming :(

But then he'd run the danger of derailment by cat turds
@@PieAndChips XDXDXDXD
Hey sam that looks pretty cool, would you be able to extend your O gauge track to go around the room
Thanks Robert, I'd love to, but don't think it'd be possible sadly :(

@@SamsTrains Some sort of removable bridges ...
+Sam'sTrains you could try to build a garden layout!
I think you have a garden
@@SniartekilI yeah has a garden, he used it when he drove a really good heljen model underwater when he finally lost the plot @Sam'sTrains
@@SamsTrains It could be possible, you may have to move some shelves and have some removable bridges.
Absolutely beautiful. This review confirmed how awesome they are, so I'm definitely going to buy one after my birthday in just over a month.
I got a dapol 14t tanker today, is awesome, and I'm currently sat making a Parkside ex-SNCF 16t mineral wagon kit.
Also my kernow/djm photographic grey 1361 arrived today, and it looks fantastic. Was very jerky at low speed on my R965 controller, so I googled it and it seems to be a feedback controller, unusual for a 20 year old trainset controller, so I swapped it for my H&M duette, and the saddle tank runs superbly with the controller set to full wave high resistance.
Thanks so much mate - yeah definitely, they're just amazing - one of the best models I've ever seen! I've heard those tankers are good too! Glad you like your 1361! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Woah! That model looks beatiful! So detailed! but lets still remember about the dapol derailing vans :). Btw still that model is awesome! And so are you!
Thanks mate - I agree with you there!! lol!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Wow they done a great job creating there own 14xx I love it 🥰
Thanks Connor - i agree!! :D
You'll have to get the autocoach to go with it now.
That would be fantastic for sure!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That's a rather pricey price of rolling stock though
And A G.W.R. Brakevan! A.K.A. Toad From The T.T.E.
What a beauty Sam! Pity about the packaging...but still. Very much worth it. Nice one Sam.
Cheers Tim - yeah I agree - very happy myself! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
At 6:18 I was expecting that everything will fall off of the 14xx...
haha!! xD
I wish Dapol had an option to buy this with light green paint, red stripes, the GWR logo, and the number 11 (or 1436)
I agree - maybe they'll do that version?
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I have to say, I was nervous about jumping into O Gauge, but after seeing your videos and purchasing a few models, I'm extremely impressed.
You forgot to show the removable cab roof! Ah well, maybe on an O gauge Pannier review :P
Yeah I didn't discover that until after filming, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Yes, a pannier would be a great next addition!
O so expensive.
O no I went through the kid’s collage fund.
I can go on all day about O gauge.
haha it's not terribly expensive really - some Bachmann and Hornby OO locos are more expensive than this one! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains not all of us can afford 100s of model trains lol
Sam'sTrains Just wait until you look at American O scale prices. Upwards of 1,200 USD sometimes, and even HO gets upwards of 400-500 a lot more than I would like

die-hard? more like die-cast! ;)
Lovely review Sam! Well done on getting the 14xx in O gauge! :D
Thanks a lot mate!! :D
Love this model. Not only the 14xx is my favourite locomotive but it looks well modelled by dapol. Loved this review. Clint
Cheers Clint, yeah they did an amazing job with this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Brilliant vid sam (as usual!) She is a real stunner that 14xx would love to have her on my yet to be garden railway.
Kind regards from up in Glasgow!
Thanks a lot mate - yeah I'd highly recommend this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Gorgeous detailed loco and if I was to have a garden set up then this would be on my list. She runs smoothly and it handles speed well on the controller down to a crawl. Defiantly a nice purchase by you Sam and it looks great with a load of wagons behind it. For me it is back to playing catch up on the rest of your videos.
Thanks a lot John - yes they're wonderful models, very happy with this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Looks amazing! Very tempted! Interesting that it doesn't actually have a top feed.
Thanks mate - I can highly recommend this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
As you no doubt agree, the biggest thing that puts me off is actually the packaging!
Great review! I ordered one of these with a little trepidation after seeing this as I didn’t know how the model would fare on the long journey from England to Australia with that method of packaging. Thankfully it arrived today fully intact. It’s a great model and I do love the proper owners manual that comes with it. I’ve only seen that once before with a Bachman G Scale Climax I bought years ago. The issue of detail parts falling off seems to be a common one these days with the level of separately applied parts. I’ve had a few Australian HO scale models with bits rattling around in the bottom of the box. Easy enough to fix and only a slight annoyance as long as nothing is actually broken.
Oh wow - that's quite impressive that it was totally unscathed!! Hopefully you're enjoying this! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi. Bryan ( NSW) Aust. here. Have a look at the on-line virtual Catalogue of ETS, CZ. All metal they make all the "ACE" models for the UK Market. Ripper quality and no damage in 40 years of them sending their products to NSW. .
Cheers Bryan.
There is always something interesting with O gauge locos. It also shows a difference side of model Trains. From Ryan 😀😀
Thanks a lot Ryan - I agree!! Good luck with the new videos mate! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Thank you for the good luck :)
Ah, I see you’ve gotten into O Gauge! I don’t have O Gauge, but it looks fascinating! The Terrier that you reviewed last time was great
Yes indeed - it really is interesting, highly recommend it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I am really looking forward to when (if) you review the O gauge 57xx. The functioning valve gear should be amazing. However, I’ve done some research and only the 57xx has the working valve gear, and not the 74xx or the 64xx. Unfortunately, Dapol have stopped making the first batch of 57xx’s, however there is another batch with new riveted tanks coming soon!
Yeah those will be amazing actually - can't wait to review one!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
dang it awesome vid sam i love how detailed they are and BIG
Thanks a lot mate - yeah me too! :D
Sam, could you maybe review a 64xx pannier tank engine for your next O gauge review, I love the 64xx
That would be amazing - I'll look into them for sure! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I recently got another O gauge locomotive, a Bachmann Williams NW2 diesel switcher
Ooh I like the sound of that!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very nice model, tempted to get one in GWR as quite sure someone on my dad's side worked on the GWR back in the day, however there's a rather lovely O Gauge N Class I'm looking at, either that or I'll get a 5" gauge loco to play around with in the garden!
Great video as always Sam!
~James
Thanks James - I can highly recommend it - lovely things! Ooh wow - even better! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
It’s kind of sad for the company when it takes a consumer directions and 6 and a half minutes to ru the train they’d spent 200 pounds on and it still breaks.
You're right - the packaging was a joke really! :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
wow those o gauge engines look lovely!
Thanks Charles - I think they are! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Beautiful model! It’s awesome that they could be driven from the coach even though that had a couple of faults! Lucky to have 4 preserved examples, especially since this type of loco forms the character Oliver!
Thanks a lot Ryno - yeah I agree, a very cool idea!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Maybe you should review the O gauge 57XX pannier tank (so you can have Duck and Oliver)
Amazing review Sam! I always see your videos they are so good and well made and your explanation is the best keep the good work! 0:12 I got kinda scared I thought it was gonna fall , the track bended down I got scared xd
Thanks so much mate, that's very kind of you! haha yeah it was close!! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I’m expecting Oliver to like this video. Lol I think this is his favorite tank engine
haha I hope he does - maybe he'll think he's under competition?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You know, the officially well-knowingly famously familiar Thomas & Friends character known as Oliver who'd been officially well-knowingly obviously saved from the Scrapper's torch by Douglas the Caledonian 812 class O-6-O steam-driven railway tender locomotive certainly happens to basically be very shockingly surprisingly officially well-knowingly obviously based on the Great Western Railway 14xx O-4-2 tank engine!!!!!
BUT, NONETHELESS, GREAT WORK WITH THIS OFFICIAL REVIEW AS ALWAYS!!!!!!!!
A 14XX, nice, can you do a gaming review on Flashing Lights? It’s basically an emergency service simulator you can play as a police officer, a paramedic or a fire fighter, it takes place in America it costs $19.99 when I got it, and £191 for a tank engine? Wow that’s quite expensive
That sounds cool Danny, I'll have to check that out! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
when do you think youll run the 4f on the track? maybe a running session
Yeah a running session would be fun! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Now all we just need is for a black one, to run into a village, with two drunk men.
Tell that to Toad when he sees Oliver
haha yeah!! ;D
I think there is a 0 gauge toad brake van available from Dapol and there is a GWR Pannier tank loco like duck available as well.
@@bentullett6068 We got the little western then!
@@prideoftheline2009 I did check Hattons and the Dapol 0 gauge wagons and I was wrong they don't do a toad brake van yet. But they definitely do the GWR Pannier tank loco.
I think Bachmann created some O gauge Thomas and Friends® locomotives (I think it's Thomas, Percy, James, and Emily), if it's not O gauge, it's G gauge. Anyway, if there O gauge, then I think we found a set of models you can test. If not, can you test an O gauge 08 Shunter?
Yeah you're right - they are indeed G gauge, I've seen some for sale!!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Can you review an o scale amarican steam locomotive pls
Hehehe... poor Dapol. They must have thought; "Sam was not impressed last time with the Terrier packaging; how can we impress him? Lets make a plastic box to surround it so the steps don't get knocked off!" Doh! Nice review Sam. Cheers mukka.
haha cheers Gary - I wish I knew what they were thinking, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Can you review a dapol o gauge shunter if they have one
Yeah they do have some shunters - I'll look into them! :D

Do they have train sets like oo gauge or do you have to buy individual track pieces
After weeks of bad timing, I'm finally early!
Well done at last mate! :D
hello sam I think the dapol O gauge 14XX looks absolutely gorgeous and can you review a tender engine for your next O gauge review like one of hattons O gauge A1/A3 and will you b getting coaches for your O gauge layout and love the video from david

Hi Sam,
Lovely loco! Pity about the packaging and quality problems though. Have you ever considered doing some OO9 (narrow gauge) modelling?
Great vid as always!

Thanks Rowan - yeah it was a shame about that, otherwise a stunner! I have thought about it - it'd be awesome one day! :D

0:12 This music is lowkey catchy! 😄
haha thank you! :D
Did you hear today that Michael angelis the narrator of seasons 3-16 of thomas died today

Hey Sam, love the vids, by any chance could you make another 360 camera video.
Karl :)
That would be great Karl - I think I'd want a better quality camera first though!

The Class 33, 35, 03 would be great reviews I think. Still a decent loco just need some auto coaches for it
Yeah definitely - I'd love that! Some coaches would be awesome too! :D

You're very forgiving Sam, I wouldn't have been satisfied with that.
I certainly wasn't happy Ron - but I was very glad when I'd made the repairs, and everything was well!

Is the whistle supposed to be that far out?
I hope so!!
Yes.😀
10:27 That looks really filthy. Apparently, it’s now weathered, good work Dapol, flawless work!

Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great review Sam certainly is very nice you
Will you ever get some coaches in o gauge or are they a bit too much money?
Thanks very much David - I would love to try some coaches yeah! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, that is an outstanding review of the Dapol O Gauge Great Western 14xx Auto Tank, despite some of the details had been broken off and you have to fix them back on, but it's still a magnificent machine.
The running performance was ace.
Now you have an O Gauge Great Western 14xx, you'll have to get an Auto Coach to go with it, as your 14xx is in British Railways Brunswick Green Livery with the Late Crest, I would suggest getting the Auto Coach in British Railways Crimson Livery to match it, like how the 14xx & Auto Coach looked back in the 1950's.
Once again, an outstanding review on the Dapol O Gauge Great Western 14xx, keep up the good work mate.
Yours kindly
Jordan Shingler
10/10 & 5 Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😉

Mate if an o gauge class 66 exsists you neeeeeeed one :D

Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Any 4 wheeled coaches to go with it?
That Model Looks Amazing Mainly Because Of The Detail Good Video Sam
Thanks very much - yeah the detail is amazing on these! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
In short :
-Details : Oxford Rail
-Drivetrain : Hornby
-Price : Half what Bachmann would have done
-Packaging : mix between Heljan and DJM
As I said before, I want the same in OO now. That's a pity with Dapol in O : they made good models, but they succeed to botch something in the way. Why not a classic ice block for the packaging, too efficient maybe ?
Anyway, thanks for your review on O scale. That gives me ideas...
haha yeah I'd agree with that actually, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam, bad news for the channel....
RUclips will be discontinuing Poll Cards after June 10th.

Very nice looking loco shame about the damage hope your ok
Thanks Lewis, hope you are too mate! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Overkill packaging with damage. Still good price. The fact that a Hornby hst costs like £250. I kind of want a hst but price puts me off. Great video. I'm good with oo gauge.
If you are on a budget you could probably buy a Railroad version HST which is the old hornby/lima model. There are also plenty of these second hand on Ebay or at shows and you can buy the power car, dummy car and some MK3 carriages for a reasonable price.
@@bentullett6068 ok thanks I'll take a look.
Yeah it's a shame the Hornby HSTs are so expensive - the basic ones still look great though! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Maybe you should try the Hattons A3, that must be a beast
I would love it - but I can't afford it sadly :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Amazing review on the Dapol O Gauge 14xx! 😃
This locomotive looks fantastic in O gauge form, I like all the separately fitted that are fitted to the model although it’s a shame that some separately fitted parts broke off while in the packaging. It would’ve been nice if Dapol had some way to make the packaging simple and easy to open, but at the same time, it needs to be protected with care, hopefully Dapol fixes this issue soon with their O gauge locomotive packaging. I don’t remember your O gauge Terrier having screws in the packaging just to take it out, this is the first time I’ve seen it with the 14xx. Also, I’d imagine it would be stressful just to refit all the small separately parts to the model without leaving any glue marks, if I was a model railway enthusiast, I’d probably try to avoid these O gauge locomotives because of how delicate they are and how expensive they are. But overall, this O Gauge Dapol 14xx looks pretty good! 😊
Thanks very much mate - it really does!! Yes - simpler and more effective packaging is a must!!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That can is simply amazing!
How can that standard of detail be produced in 0 gauge for just a little bit more than some 00 gauge models?
Very peculiar packaging that definitely doesn’t do what it’s supposed to 😊
I agree Jon - it's just incredible isn't it?! :O
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Perhaps because oo is so much smaller it may be so much harder to get detail in small areas. In Australia a dapol n scale terrier cost the same as a Hornby oo scale terrier. That a first seems like bad value but in just may be down to it being so much smaller? That is a guess.
Sam you should get some more turnouts to make a small yard
That'd be awesome Caden! :D
That's a totally superb model Sam, you've obviously been bitten by the '0' Gauge bug. For the price, a fine loco and one to be proud of owning....Bob
Thanks very much Bob - I think I definitely have, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
