They are marvellous models and I have used a friends southern black terrier and it has the bar and hook mechanism and all he's done is still 2 small holes and pushed the bar on each end, however I prefer the 3 link couplings as it's more prototypically and better for photos
Another great review. On the chimney'seam' it's hard to tell from accessible photos of the A1 as built whether the chimney was in 3 parts. Most photos show the two part chimney. Strange though, given that on the O gauge model dapol paint the boiler band flush rather than have a lightly raised band.
Screw couplings, not instanter or 3 link, and the hose is an air hose for Westinghouse brake. It does look great, but I’ll stick with my 3 IEG, and 2 southern livery. They look nice in my display case
A lovely model. Do you think you'll make yourself a small o gauge layout so you can run and test away from the garden railway? A small inglenook might be viable.
Thanks for a helpful and instructive review, Jenny. I wouldn't mind one of these in early BR black. Quick question: Is the cab handbrake meant to be angled forward, or is that a fault with your model?
Great video jenny did you know we had a class like this in nsw they didn’t last long on main line working then got used around Depos look up z18 tank locos

A great review as always and it will make a fine addition to your garden layout

Leslie Gilpin thanks! The seam on the model appears to be down to the chimney being a separate piece. It is unduly prominent.
That is a lovely loco, I have Hornby Terrier `Freshwater` that is 20 years old. Great video Jenny.
Philip Page many thanks! I have a few old Hornby terriers too and hold them with some affection.
Great O scale model!
As always; An excellently detailed review, Jenny!
Larry Dee many thanks!
