Imagine being GLaDOS sleeping for 50k years and being forced to whatch the last 2 minutes of your life then you finnaly wake up and your core gets replaced
I actually kinda prefer this. Would make more sense design wise and explain why GLaDOS's head shows back up at the end, plus I could see Wheatley flipping it down almost like a helmet/mask to intimidate and remind everyone who's in charge now.
I thought the original one made sense, GLaDOS picks up her old head and reconnects it, plus it makes more thematic sense for GLaDOS to lose her head, “we cut the snake by its throat” and all of that
It would make sense that the transfer would happen at the wakeup scene She boots up and then the system notices glados is damaged and wheatly is a core so replace her with wheatly I think why it looks weird with glados's head still there is because they were thinking it would slide up and let a new core in The commentary said they had a verson of wheatlyos Just be glados with wheatly's eye
I wish that it would do that, her outside part of her head would slide up letting her core self out then letting wheatly in. And the outside part of the head would slide back into place.
I think the model was a test for the Stalemate scene where Glados brings you into her lair, and you plug Wheatley in and have to find a way to get through the glass barriers to press the button. The one called glados_wheatley_testanim is very similar to the animation where Wheatley betrays you, showing as how he is waving about, (probably simulating him spinning around when talking), and also how the shell on him extends outward and inward, something that happens in the scene when he is going to betray you, and that probably was an old sync for older lines.
Yeah, it's the "Underground" model, but that's because for some reason all of the main puzzle element models (cubes, modern buttons, radio, etc) have gone missing from my files.
I wondered what the rest of the game would be like like if this happened, especially since the GLaDOS head wasn't removed, just turned off and moved onto the "body" of the mainframe, so we don't have PotatOS. Maybe shortly after this Wheatley betrays us and starts putting Chell on tests, and she will have to escape. Also, instead of the second core transfer, the player will have to find another way to make the system put the GLaDOS head back. One more thing, the model actually looks kinda scary. The dirt everywhere, it being broken and the deactivated head gives it a creepy atmosphere, especially if you think about Wheatley, he probably won't know how to clean up the facility, and so you would play with all of aperture destroyed with no companions but evil Wheatley on a destroyed mainframe.
i have a strong feeling it didn’t take place after the wakeup, i feel like that model was likely used for glados for most of the development, it probably isn’t an indicator of it being in the wakeup scene
That actually makes sense since, 1. Glados’s head is different from other cores 2. Glados what the first to be in that body so it move the head back so the new core can be there and 3. The dev might have thought of glados head couldn’t be removed to it has to be pushed back
Actually, I don’t think it quite does, at least not for the reasons you presented 1. GLaDOS is not a core, she’s the main computer, so of course her head is different from the other cores 2. GLaDOS what does being the first one in the chassis have to do with anything? 3. Why? GLaDOS is a robot, well, a Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, but still basically a robot, she had to be put together somehow, head included, so her had must be removable
@@L1z43vr glados is the main computer and a core. The annoucer literally says "central core is 80% corrupt" and he is referring to glados. Therefore, glados is a core.
Actually the only reason the wake up model is used was because they either didn’t have the finished fixed glados model or they didn’t have the wheatley in the new body model finished
Lei's fine, and he changed his username to iLeibee. Oh, and in the time since we stopped complaining about airatus tech, a lot happened. Happy you're back in the LT community.
Actually i think this was just a quick trow together of the final boss and it uses a broken glados model probably because of how simple it is. ruclips.net/video/vboI7UUziHk/видео.html
You could have made it where the core transfer thing digs up and takes her off but you can see what it looks like without the walls you could make a look for it. And make it look a lot better. Other than that it’s amazing. Without the wall I mean like the walls don’t come up cause the broke.
I know this comment was made a really long time ago, but from my understanding this isn’t possible as the animation for detaching glados’ head is completely idle and uses the walls to mask that. They would have to completely animate all of those arms and such, which it seems even Valve was too scared to do.
I managed to create it with the help of a console in the latest edition of Portal 2. i'm learning world hammer so i'm trying to create it with a couple of animations. #betacontep in next portal game

Oh that flipping the head would be realy rad!

I believe the "flipping glados mask down" was the original intention
i never noticed this but some parts of glados' white shell comes off when the core swap occurs
Wheatley's last word: DELETE.
"Delete" and immediately some explosion sounds. That made me burst of laughing.
It would make sense that the transfer would happen at the wakeup scene

This would be freaky to have in the actual game, sorta like a headcrab in a weird way

Jeez the claw violently pulled wheatley
wait isnt that stalemate button one of the textures from old aperture

I think this would be cool
If this was a dlc and you work with this version of Wheatley to escape
agreed
there would probably be the maintenance pit underneath instead of this more manual transfer, but this is pretty cool
Now that I think about it I think GLaDOS became a core
she was already a core thoughi just with a different shape.
A SPHERE core
And off we go! -Wheatley 2019
I already seen this found the modal while looking through stuff on gmod for portal 2
To me it looks more like a mockup model and animations in what Wheatley on Glados would've looked like
Hey, could you upload the noises of GLaDOs waking up? I literally cannot find them anywhere without Wheatley or anything else in the way
Open pak01_dir.vpk in GCFScape.
Open root/sounds/playonce/scripted_sequences/glados_reawakened_01.wav
that model is from when they were testing the game in 2010 - 2011, the play tester said it looked strange so Valve changed
Actually the only reason the wake up model is used was because they either didn’t have the finished fixed glados model or they didn’t have the wheatley in the new body model finished
I used this model all the time in gmod
that actually means if it was the model for the wheatley boss that means might have changed the whole story not of old aperture not POtaOS
Shouldn't a huge hole just rise out of the dirt and use the hands? It'd be more realistic.

if the core transfer was in the wakeup scene the game would be 33% shorter
I would like to see the version of portal where this is cannon

it would be better if the GLaDOS core would talk to
I don’t really like the idea because of GLaDOS’ Head is still there now GLaDOS’ head is part of GLaDOS because GLaDOS is a core
