- Another piece in the "is it possible" series that I unknowingly created. This time, we look at the feasibility of GLaDOS, specifically the main core chassis she lives in.

@@БрианЕлхов Well when glados was activated she pretended she wanted to do science and asked the scientists to give permission to use neurotoxin and then she flooded all the entire enrichment center with deadly Neurotoxin. So we learned That WE CAN NOT give a giant robot that controls the whole facility, permission to use neurotoxin (or something deadly)

I will now explain why this animation appears broken. The animation where her head flies is supposed to be on a different GLaDOS model, where instead wires retract and drag her head back into position.
Is anyone gonna talk about how they said "I can't bloody remove the head on this model"?

Hey Tether, I'd just like to say, the wake-up scene shows various wires pulling the head and other parts into place. This seems to be like a filament feeder in a 3D printer, with a gear and pulley, the pulley giving it something to grip against and turn against, the gear grabbing the cables and pulling them into place. It would also explain things like the "crane" arms (I have NO clue what those are actually called)

Those arm things are used to help move the body and feed the main part of it with power and information. It seams like they where added to help the center part move and function. The head would most likely work via the actuators and a few wires and fiber optics. Most of the GLaDOSE body is in reality easy to biuld with funding and materials we have today and in the 60-80s
You guys know GLaDOS was supposed to have arms to move around? Somewhere in (VERY) early build of portal 2, But even Valve said nope to giant killing robot chasing you around in abandoned aperture

This one is definitely a challenge. It would be hard to do, but I think they could pull it off by merging the two worlds, half-life and portal.
Tether Animations True! If they were to ever make a Portal or Half Life 3, then they would be combined. Maybe Chell finds her way to Black Mesa?
@@SpaceNinja116 Well, in one of the leaked but scrapped storylines for HL3, Gordon actually ends up in Aperture with an Aperture enhanced prosthetic arm... I feel like "portal play" would be rather difficult though, since technically the only portalable surfaces are covered with moon dust and that isn't gonna exist outside of the aperture compound...
Tether Animations I saw Tyler McVicker’s video about the leak. I know that Portal technology and such would appear. I think it would be interesting to see Gordon and Chell working together though.
@@SpaceNinja116 Ah, you saw it as well! Yeah, there's definitely options but in the end the toughest part is making the customers happy. That said, having it as a co-op style game like that would be awesome!
I love that song.
How you can slightly hear the ending to portal 2 in it, but it also has very robotic sounding sounds. Kinda like what GLADoS would hear at the end of the game instead of it being clear like chell hears.
I will probably be revisiting this idea in the future, in order to give it the much longer, and much more in-depth video it deserves. Right now though, I'm still learning a lot about SFM and editing, so the video isn't that great.

having a black hole is dangerous enough, and containing one would be near impossible. We'd most certainly be dead if we tried it.

The explosion was powerful so she would have a lot of broken machinery in her what is the eye but either the white shield would be explosion resistant
Are emancipation grills, Rocket turrets, laser emitters, and aerial faith plates possible?
The Aerial faith plates are somewhat possible, probably not the right design for one though, and the rocket turrets are also likely possible. The Emancipation grills are a little more complicated, but I'm sure they're also possible.
We already have lasers that can kill a human so laser emitters in a way exist
Death fizzlers can probably exist as for normal ones it would probably not be possible

I was Always wondering what panels Are suspended on. In game,they just seem to be suspended in place?

But the test chambers sometimes have panels on them, with the chambers looking completely different with a plaster wall on the outside, surrounding the inner panels, but from the inside, you can see the outside through holes in the wall?

im not specialiced in anything especially not AI but doesn't AI learn all by itself at least mostly?
so if we plug an AI into a computer with enough computing power couldn't it eventually learn and evolve enough to be like glados
Not really, first up we can currently only Programm Limited Ai, as in it can only learn to do things that it is programmed to learn since we Need to build in some sort of Scoring System for it to decide which changes are beneficial and which ones detremental, thus we cant make all purpose Ai right now.
That aside though GLADOS isnt even an "Artificial" Intelligence but and uploaded human consciousness, more specificly that of Cave Johnson's Secretary Caroline.
Remember though, it's a fact that glados and everything in apiture can run on a potato battery

I like that they made two different GLaDOS designs for this game. The more basic and stripped down one armed version, used when she wakes up at the beginning of the game. And the two armed, more advanced and complex version used for the rest of the game
Definitely a tough one to do, but fun.

Really though, once it's taken apart and looked at in detail like this, the model itself was quite amazing work by Valve, it's just detail upon detail, and they actually designed it as realistically as possible with real engineering taken into account.

I reckon the “brain” of GLaDOS’s AI would be housed in the big steel container you can see holding up the rings, and the container with all the rubber pipes connecting to it with Portal 1 GLaDOS.

I never noticed the individual lights in GLaDOS's eye, and how some of them occasionally blink. I really like that effect!
Probably should have done the Portal 1 model, the one aperture science actually built.
Funny thing - GladOS originally was insane on activation, so the engineers developed the Morality Core to counteract the rogue AI.

Fact there are currently [5] versions of GLaDOS: 1 from portal, 2 wireless from portal 2, with wires also from portal 2 ,from "the lab robot repair" that's updated with a camera Lens in front the Eye and this model wich Is the lab One but without the Lens.
Im sure whoever is gonna be forced into that AI if we make it has to consent or we are gonna die- And dont forgot the morality core!
For the AI, responses can use a simple chat bot and text to speech program. For the movement, probably using the animation files from the game would work if you can program every piston, motor, or whatever else to also rotate to the same degrees as they do in-game... If not just recreate the animation itself or have an AI generate different movements using something like Google's DeepMind AI from 2017. (ruclips.net/video/gn4nRCC9TwQ/видео.html) with one hell of a long time to train it just idly moving small amounts. However, the AI might think it'd just be best to not move at all so maybe find a way to train the AI on assets either from the game or... again... making the animations yourself and showing them to it.
Definitely do NOT give it Neurotoxin though. Unless it has a copy of the laws of robotics and understands what it all means.

We can create the body of GLaDOS but we cannot create the AI because we currently have no idea how to put your Consciousness inside of a hard drive

I would like to see GLaDOS built, but she could only run a Bakery or Customer Service, she has a flare for those.
So it's a light, with a camera, with a bunch of moving parts, hooked up to a massive computer that controls everything and itself.
It is possible, it would just be pretty expensive, especially with how big GLaDOS is.

Well, GLaDOS is not an AI, she is a mind of Caroline downloaded into a big ass computer taped to the ceiling
A guy made a GlaDOS lamp for his house, and another guy made Wheatley, so both of them are possible, but their AI aren't like it is in the game but it's pretty cool
Wait if you have the GLaDOS Chamber Map why not use the GLaDOS model from the game and not from The Lab
the GLaDOS model from The Lab is higher quality, and I prefer its textures as well. It is the most recent and most accurate iteration of GLaDOS in canon.
GLaDOS stand for Genetic Life and Disk Operating System
I'd say the space for expected electronics (Moore's law seems to go further than expected as 5nm tech is already here) is enough. The main CPUs seem to be housed in the body as there are no thick buses going to the head (camera and visual processing unit?). GLaDOS needs a proper cooling system, though. Unless the "arms" bring some kind of extremely capacitive coolant, but, even so, the materials would have to be resistant to fracturing from temperature differences.

Glados is likely some water or Oil Cooled massively overclocked Processor with lots of data storage. Alongside additional resources in the rest of her body like a bunch of Ram, Rows of Graphics cars for procressing and so much data storage it puts most Supercomputers to Shame.
I would say yes apart from the part where they put a human conscience into the robot
Knowing GLaDOS, I don't think we should replicate the A.I because that would bring us one step closer to robots eradicating all of humanity.

Well if you put a quantum computer in her and have the factory that would make supplies for it then maybe yes
Well the chassis and the general design of GLaDOS is able to be built however, I don't think anyone could replicate the "AI", as that is indeed a living mind and soul from an actual person implanted into the chassis and connected to a supercomputer that quite possibly surpasses any that we have built today or could foreseeably build in the distant future.
Maybe I'm just a fanboy but I would love to see GLaDOS irl. With the ai aswell. They could get Ellen to do the voice work for it aswell!
I feel like trying to recreate GLadOS's AI would be the worst idea ever, like after hearing about what she did in portal 1 it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

I know a extremely tiny version can be made but with a different voice due to glados not saying every word in the dictionary but you could make a similar voice use if a voice modulation device on the ai so not at it’s actual scale

I'm into SFM rn and i'm using the same model, and apparently, map as you. But i have 1 question. I see you use the same pit model as I, but in the map I use, the place in the pit is occupied by some other thing that makes it so when the pit opens it's blocked by that. How did you fix that? (if you did)
