Nicest parador I visited but not stayed in was in Carmona near Seville. Exquisite. Had a coffee on the terrace, the car park was full of exotic cars and the clientele oozed wealth. The terrace looked out on the Spanish plains for miles and was a castle where the moors and the Christian’s battled each other over the centuries. Paradors are government owned and what heritage. Thanks for showing us
I also worked in sales for twenty odd years and was totally burned out and glad to retire when the time came (early in my case fortunately). I remember the annual sales targets and budgets that were reset (always upwards) at the start of each year and the pressure to hit targets whatever the market conditions and circumstances. I still occasionally have a dream that I'm still doing it and it's such a huge relief when I wake up and realise it's not real! Good luck to you Sean👍 Another good video thanks for sharing your trip
Thanks Richard, yes 20% year on year increase from the same territory is unsustainable. Price was too high for developing markets. All in all it became just a process of keeping your head down and not really performing just trying to avert blame. Only thing I'd sell now is motorcycles given the chance 😀
Hi Sean. Glad you got out of corporate.and now chilling out with you new bike adventures for us ALL to enjoy. I was lucky to retire at 53 years of age and twenty years on totally enjoying life .Had i not left i would have been in a pine box. Too stressfull to say the least, So enjoy your time . Thanks again for the video. Ride safe, Mike, Sunny Wales
Thank you Mike, well I have left but I'm going to have to find alternative employment at some stage. It's more of a career change and a priorities change for me, let's see what comes up next year. Cheers, Sean
All the best Sean, I was in IT sales to financial services from 1995 to 2009 but it all went pear shaped in 2009 /2010 with the financial crash then. After a bumpy year I managed to go back into engineering where I had some previous experience and qualifications and am now working as an Electrical Engineer which I like doing. I enjoyed sales at the time but there is so much out of your control (sales targets , market changes , your product strengths, management/company changes etc) that it is difficult to deal with all these factors. I am glad I made the change and hope that a new path becomes clear for you. I am sure you have made the right choice and in future years you will look back to be glad you made the change.
Morning Sean my only concern is the classic getting ragged on those roads you have to take to on occasions to make up some time from enjoying the smaller roads, we will soon find out 😂 nice ride bud even on the straight stuff. You described the riding and the scenery really well and the feeling it gives you, it’s special feeling 😊…..Pete
Lots of straight as a die roads through the interior to where I hope to end up 😬, good for you using as much Spanish as possible well done you, try always try and they cut you a load of slack 😊
I'm glad you chucked that job in...I know a few in corporate the game and I know I'd only last about 2 hours because I couldn't take the mind numbing wiffle waffle. New adventures ahead and a lot to look forward too even if you can't see it now. Good vlog and some nice digs there...good adventure!
Really enjoyed watching this. A simple lowish powered bike is a very civilised way to travel. I’m doing similar trips on my Enfield interceptor next year, this is a good bit of inspiration. Don’t get hung up on tax, remember when you’re paying more tax you’re also earning more money. Money is not a thing, it’s just a facilitator that allows us to do what we do. If you’re really focused, the more you can earn when you’re young, the more you can set aside and invest and the earlier you can jump ship and never go back. Yes it’s a pain, but working for yourself is no picnic either. The other thing, while I’m on a roll, don’t give up on education either, it makes a real difference, took me until I was 25 to work that out……
I worked in sales for 30 year's and when i reached 50 i was sick and tired of being told how to do my job by younger people fresh out of university who had no idea what it was like on the ground so i left and started my own business up in a completely different field. I always remember one of my colleagues saying to the boss " why is it that shit always flows downhill and were in the valleys to receive it "
Great to hear that Ian, I've left and I'll probably do a career transition of some kind. never say never but very unlikely to go back into corporate...
The Repsol service stations that have cafes attached are generally really good stops right across Spain with super food, there are a lot of excellent small roads around Burgos I have stayed at that Parador, it’s a really good one to be fair
18:00 What a handy little tool the jackstand is. Invaluable on a long tour, but taking up minimal luggage space. I love gadgets that are well designed and actually useful.
Yes, this was one I got sent and I actually keep using it time and time again. There is now an aftermarket centre stand for the BSA but it's £500. So I'm just keeping on this for now...
Well what can I say other than a cracking vlog. Good comfort viewing. Good to see you practising your Spanish - tortilla o pastel (cake btw). The Paradors in Spain are great value as you say and well worth the extra few quid for what is often 4 or 5 star luxury. And all run by the state. Next time you’re biking in Spain and looking for a companion - count me in. Ps. Good luck in finding the right job.
Thanks so much Nigel. Yes I was really enjoying the language. Much easier up here than on the south coast where most are speaking English. Have you got a bike over in Spain now? It would be fun to have a ride about together in the sun on our modern classic bikes😀👍
@@MindfulMotorcyclistplan to get a bike in Spain next year. Going to sell my Speed Twin in the UK and get something in Spain. Another Triumph or possibly Royal Enfield. As you know it’s pretty much all year riding weather. Came back to the UK Aug/Sept and had just half a dozen decent days.
I noticed you check your indicators regularly and suspect it is a habit brought about by a fear of forgetting to cancel them. However have you considered fitting an indicator cancelling system such as the ST2 Smart Turn System. As someone who regularly does forget to cancel my indicators and a new BSA Goldstar owner, I am seriously considering getting one of these devices myself, but can’t really find anywhere to mount it, so would be very interested in seeing a fellow Goldstar owner fitting one of these.
Hi John, thanks for this. You are correct I do have a fear of forgetting to cancel them. I'll have a look at the smart turn! Oh and congratulations on your new bike! Thanks, Sean
@@MindfulMotorcyclistthanks for your reply. The Smart Turn Device has a lot of favourable videos and comments on RUclips. But regarding fitting it looking at the Goldstar, I am struggling to find somewhere to put it. Although it is quite small, about the size of a small matchbox, it needs to be fitted level to work properly and as the BSA is quite compact, I am as yet at a loss to find somewhere suitable. I am planning to decat the bike, I have the Hitchcock’s system ready, so I will probably fit it in the big empty space where the cat used to sit, I will need to extend the wiring but that is no issue and to be honest the Scotch Lock connectors supplied with it need replacing with something a bit more professional, such as crimp on butt connectors. I will let you know when it is done and possibly upload a video to RUclips, however it will be in the new year as I am away on holiday soon and not back until January.
At the moment yes, i had one EML in Spain when it was very cold but other than that it seems fine. Coming up to 5000 miles so not huge mileage on her it has to be said. I keep worrying something will play up but I'm covered up to Feb 2027 anyway and BSA seem very keen to sort warranty work without argument.

Enjoy a work free stress free Christmas with Suzie and family for a change. The Parador looked a great place to spend a few days.
Thank you Simon, we are trying 🙏

Thanks a lot Pete for this kind comment. I think the Classic would do just fine over here, probably avoid the red routes on the map 🤔?

Good on ya Sean -- there's more to life than chasing the corporate dollar. That Parador was a bargain!

Is the BSA proving to be 100 per cent reliable? Spain is such a great country to ride through, isn't it. Nick
