2nd eye poke: 1 point deduction and minus one finger.
3rd eye poke +: Minus one finger. If thumb, keep thumb but remove random finger until default fist is created.
Thumbs kept for grappling.
Eye poke count is maintained throughout career and NEVER resets to zero.
Once fighter is down to 2 thumbs. Any further eye pokes will result in auto-disqualification.

And immediate DQ for eye-pokes if the fighter negligently had the fingers not bent and pointed towards the head of the opponent. Eye-pokes will immediately be reduced to close to zero.

Because fight-camp is super stressful, and if there is one thing that suppresses your immune-system it's stress. But also, there is something wrong with those gyms. Apparently, hygiene isn't a big thing there. I've been doing all sorts of combat sports for over 35 years and I'm not aware of a single staph case in any of the gyms I've trained, yet UFC fighters (in particular training in US gyms) have it all the time.
