It never ceases to amaze me how the most inactive fighter on the UFC roster still seems to garner the most attention. It's a testament to how celebrity over substance is just the way it is in America.

He’s not my favorite fighter but he’s brought a lot to the sport and it’s not that big of a deal he’s fighting stipe. Tom deserves it but we have to remember stipe is a real heavyweight and might come through with the upset. If anything it’ll be a good fight better than people are saying.

He'll never put himself in a position of firefighting someone to have something crazy happen. There's a reason this dude never takes short notice fights or a replacement for an injured opponent. If he fights someone he'll only ever do it after a good training camp for that specific opponent.
Never should be allowed to happen. Jones NEEDS to fight Aspinall. The whole DC talk is just partial, as he "falls" back into what it means(somewhat) for their "rivalry". I know DC is not required anything more, but as an authority of common sense, first thing about that is WHY YOU NOT FIGHTING ASPINALL. Aspinall should be shouting from the tops "i WILL FIGHT JON FOR FREE", he should talk about it, and pressure Dana with it. Nobody is pressuring the UFC, fighters included. The value speculations and perception manufacture that the UFC uses needs to go. Stipe should fight Jones if he has it, and Jones has a mandatory in Aspinall. And the fighters are "ok" with it. "We ain´t business men"- we get fucked, and don´t mind.
Jones is pampered as a champion by beating the on dimensional underdog Gane, who was undedog vs Pavlovich, and more so Aspinall.
Integrity and intent. The biggest part of the value and influence to come, is by accepting the challenges as shown, not when the UFC keeps someone champion. Jones is a coke head man for a reason, and it isn´t from being among level headed friends from the UFC. You can sit around to some extent, but the division and the sport go on.
You cannot excuse being the favourite, while being at best 50:50. You cannot be a part of something that is not a mirage, and say "challenges first", while doing otherwise, and crickets from the UFC, as they make Tom interim belt holder, while they "suddenly" backpedal, indeed, as they knew what would be and could happen, if they ever put any thought except for some "mirageous" perceptions of "right" they skirt on.
Stipe should have been getting ready to fight anyone that would be there, as Jones would need to prove he is the champion before he got hurt, and then Stipe could have him at after getting up from 5th.
Aspinall beat the second best HW, a feat better than beating Gane, yet he is treated as out of the picture. Interim belt, is interim belt. It isn´t number one contender without a mandate. it is a mandatory, a boon for the champion, as far as "rivalries", and all this needs be brought on by the smooth operation of the division, and the UFC. All of UFC´s business decisions are stained with "try to finesse" something "we do not deserve". Snoop the trail of destruction and friends let go, to see what "the UFC" did for the sport. Everything is done by people, and for the people. People have buttons, but I am not sure what kind of buttons Dana has or how broken they are, it makes no sense.

Jones can't be ducking Tom Aspinall because he was already signed to fight Stipe way before Tom got into the picture. The UFC didn't cancel that fight due to Jones injury, they postponed it. How can Jones be ducking one fighter when he is already scheduled to fight another fighter? Secondly, Jones was the rising star during the shogun fight. Everybody wanted to see what the hype was about. Shogun passing up Jones would have been like Meisha Tate refusing to fight a rising star in Ronda in their first fight, or Aldo refusing to fight a rising star in Connor. In this case, Jones is the super star here, not Aspinall. Without jones, Aspinall is irrelevant. The only reason y'all keep talking about Aspinall is because you believe he is the last hope to stop Jones from achieving GOAT status. Jones last fight against Gane a guy who has the personality of watching paint dry did a whooping one million ppv buys. Aspinall needs Jones. Jones doesn't need Aspinall. UFC 5 should add more game modes. For example, add Hall Of Fame Fights, where you can replay all of the historic fights from early UFC to present day. Instead of only a few Alter Ego's, in the Hall Of Fame Fights, each fighter has the correct fight kit, age, abilities, tattoos, hairstyles, facial hair, scars, etc, that coincides with their respective Hall Of Fame Fight.
