    Thank you for the videos. I have just started back to writing after several years. I have decided to use novel crafter and so far it has been great. I use AI mainly to get ideas about specific details if I am stuck and to look at text for me if it does not sound right. It’s like having a writing partner, beta reader, and an editor right at your fingertips.

    0:00 📚 Jason Hamilton, a seasoned author and content creator at Kindlepreneur, shares insights on utilizing AI for writing fiction/non-fiction.
    1:04 🤖 AI, specifically generative AI, predicts words based on prompts, aiding in writing tasks, termed "Prompt Engineering."
    1:43 📝 Using AI in writing varies; some use it for the entire book, others for specific stages (e.g., drafting, brainstorming, outlining).
    3:27 ⏳ AI isn't a complete automation; it's a productivity partner, assisting authors while retaining human creativity.
    4:08 ⚠ Concerns about AI usage (like Amazon or Google penalizing) are unwarranted; major tech companies invest in AI and only request disclosure for extensively AI-generated content.
    5:38 ⭐ Authors are responsible for the book's quality; relying solely on AI-generated content without validation impacts quality, potentially risking repercussions.
    6:48 🧠 Distinguishing between AI models and writing tools is crucial; models are large language models, while writing tools format models for specific purposes.
    7:57 🤝 Notable models like GPT 3.5, GPT 4, Claude 2.0, accessed through tools like Pseudoite, Novel Crafter, and Future Fiction Academy, cater to distinct needs and genres.
    10:01 💸 Open-source models (besides major ones) are cost-efficient and uncensored, beneficial for specific content types (NSFW, violence).
    12:04 📝 Writing tools' suitability depends on the task; choose models/tools aligned with your writing style, genre, and content requirements.
    13:57 📘 Fiction-focused AI tools like Pseudoite, Novel Crafter, and Future Fiction Academy cater to different needs; selection depends on preferences and budget.
    17:01 🗣 Interaction with AI writing tools varies (e.g., Pseudoite, Novel Crafter, Claude Pro) but generally involves starting small and expanding ideas progressively.
    19:20 ❓ The question of whether to use AI in writing hinges on AI's role in easing writer's block or mental barriers, facilitating getting back to writing.
    21:55 📝 Hamilton offers a membership providing more in-depth AI writing insights and a supportive community for aspiring authors.

    At this point I just want to thank you for your videos.
    I always had ideas in my head for stories and such, but never really got into writing.
    You inspired me to try out AI for writing and get somewhat of a jump-start.
    You seem like a very authentic, genuine and decent guy and I wish you all the success with your channel and your writing.
    You told in your videos, that you had mental problems and went through therapy (I think).
    And I think, that you took that and turned it into something "good" or at least something you can grow on.
    I know, that therapy did that for me. I am now a much balanced person, an I hope you are, too.
    English is not my native language, so if anyone finds any errors, you can keep them :D
    Edit: I wasn't at the end of the video, when I wrote the comment ^^

    I want to thank you for your RUclips videos, they got me back into writing. I won a couple of small prizes for writing some fan fiction set in the 'Shroud of the Avatar' game. I soon became bored and stopped writing. The use of AI resonated with my 'computers is education' background and now look forward to the process of using ChatGpt, Novelcrafter, and ElevenLabs. I am re-writing the fan fiction to be not set in the game world. The central premise combines elements of the Arthurian legends, historically correct elements, and a doomed advanced civilization.
    Lol, wish me luck.

      I started with computers and "hardwire logic" programming before there was software, constructing my first microcomputer in 1970, and writing machine learning programs in the late 1970s, I am still learning, at age 76, from others. Jason is a tremendous teacher. Listen to him, for your own good, if you are interested in the good points of A.I.

    I’m looking fwd to your next video in this series. Hoping it will be a segmented process of steps of the basic ‘journey’ from concept through to flushing out chapter beats (scene beats). My trouble is I have a story in my head and can envision the opening scene and various pivotal moments but need ai to help me thrash out several alternatives for my specific story so I can decide the best storyline and therefore the route I want the outline and beats to take. I imagine most writers already have their idea for a book in their head but are struggling with what would be plausible here/there, what would make this bit work or what direction would lead to this outcome etc. I’d appreciate more help specifically getting the LLM to brainstorm the basic story outline and plot and give me alternative scenarios for plot development until I’m happy with the overall plot, backstory, beginning, middle and ending before I even start the full synopsis and detailed outline.

    Hey. First time viewer. Great video. A couple of questions... 1. Is there an AI platform that will analyze a finished fiction story and do a substantive edit or a copy edit? 2. If someone writes all the content themselves (not with the AI tool), is there an AI tool that will help with plotting? Or help when the person is stuck with plot, pacing, etc.?

    An excellent intro to fiction writing with AI, Jason! I've been using Claude for a while, but I still learned a few things about it from this video (versions!). Look forward to more detailed and follow-up videos. I write non-fiction, specifically using Claude to summarize articles for my blog posts, and eventually for writing scripts for youtube videos based on those blog posts. I'm hoping you can cover non-fiction uses like that on your channel, if possible.
    Also, one technical comment. I've noticed that your audio is out of sync with your video, and the out-of-syncness increases as the video goes on. I worked as a recording engineer (mostly live classical and jazz), and I used to run into this problem because the timeclocks in the video cameras and the audio recorders were not synced, and one was slightly faster than the other (due to rounding errors). For symphonies and other long pieces, I had to break the audio track after each movement to resync the tracks. I'm guessing that might be happening to you. One way around it is to clap (one loud clap) after each section of your video and resync on that. Hope that helps!
    Keep up the good work!

    What I've discovered:
    Use these types of prompts:
    • Write a plot template using these notes.
    • Write a character bio based on this info dump
    • I need ideas. Give me a list of ideas…. Expand on this one... I like this idea. Expand again.
    I've experimented with this this type of prompt (it doesn't go well)
    "I have a story idea. Ask me targeted questions so that you can learn about my story idea."
    This works as a good sounding board if you are still fleshing out a story idea. But if you HAVE a story idea... you go down a rabbit whole.
    Question 1) What is the setting.
    . . .
    Question 5) Intrigue: How does the interplay between the MC's existential struggles, the unconventional use of banana DNA, and the dark humor contribute to the overall intrigue and uniqueness of your story, shaping its identity in the horror, thriller, and sci-fi genres?

    • @wickeddelight
      @wickeddelight 12 дней назад

      That "ask me targeted questions" is exactly what I'm looking for. I understand why it could go down a rabbit hole. But which software can do this in the first place?

    • @shanerooney7288
      @shanerooney7288 12 дней назад

      @@wickeddelight
      In short:
      "targeted" questions are more often than not targeting the wrong thing.
      Nothing else can do "this". But that doesn't mean "this" is the best option avaliable.
      It takes trial and error, and a lot of tweeking, to get ChatGPT to respond in a useful way.
      I honestly recommend starting with generic questions to flesh out your world building first.
      By that, I mean: *"50 Essential Questions to Shape Your Novel’s Plot"* type of generic questions.
      Don't try for "targeted" questions (via ChatGPT) until you've got a good idea what you want the questions to target.

Hope to see a full how to video to navigate what to put in the Plan section and where in Novelcrafter to placehold chapter scene beats ready for copy pasting into the Write section with the / scene beat command … it’s a bit confusing. I was always a pantser until I started using ai for dreaded writer’s block but I’m now minded more towards being a plotter. And Novelcrafter is the platform I want to concentrate although I prefer to do a lot of the prep, outline and beats in Chatgpt4 and then copy that all across into Novelcrafter.
      I hope Jason will do a full tutorial on how to navigate and work through Novelcrafter especially the Plan tab and how that integrates (or not) with the story and generated prose output. Nobody on YT is explaining that bit straight out the gate

    The "you click a button and it gives you a finished product" mentality is how we got Billy Coull giving us the Willy's Chocolate Experience and 16 AI-generated, unedited books on Amazon. I truly believe AI is the future and can be a good tool, but there will always be people like Billy and people who fall for it. And, unfortunately, people like Billy will be the reason there will be laws heavily restricting AI.

    I understand that using Prowrite to correct grammar is also a AI generated work, especially “rephrase”. Even when I generate my idea and improve it with AI and submit it to OriginallityAI it still shows up as AI generated when in fact I’ve put in the work. So, I guess my question is, how does one get around that? I’ve started writing because of AI, getting the prose the way I like it, but I still do a lot of editing to make sure I can “imprint” my style and voice to it. Any suggestions?

    • @TheNerdyNovelist
      @TheNerdyNovelist  8 месяцев назад +3

      No that doesn’t count as an AI generated work. Using AI counts as AI assisted. Also OriginalityAI and other AI detectors are notoriously inaccurate. They will identify human writing as AI writing half the time. Lots of false positives.

    • @syenite

      PWA and Grammarly is "AI" but unless you are using Sparks, it's not *generative* AI. Rephrase is different than Sparks, and has been around far longer than generative AI has been widely available. Rephrase is *not* *generative* AI. If Rephrase is considered generative AI, then the basic spell and grammar checker that has been in MS Word since the 90s should also be considered generative AI.
      AI checkers have told me that there is a 100% chance that the opening 5 paragraphs of the following novels were AI generated:
      * Pride and Prejudice
      * Grapes of Wrath
      * Atlus Shrugged
      * Clarissa
      * Frankenstein
      * The Bell Jar
      * The DaVinci Code
      * Of Mice and Men
      * The Scarlet Letter
      And it has also told me that the Constitution of thr United States was 95% AI generated. AI checkers, like plagiarism checkers, will never be very accurate.
