  • Hey You There and Welcome to Supreme Commander Forged Alliance Forever, where Giant Mechs build tools of destruction and throw them at each other in hopes of destroying the other.
    Some bugs in video games can make us rage or roll on the floor laughing. Some bugs can brick a save file or make the speed run. In FAF, bugs are seen more as a hulking mass of tech buzzing around causing chaos.

      Commander is OP, especially if you strap a mini nuke or a red hot laser to their chest.

    What's the main problem with SupCom 2's tech system? I think one of the issues is that tech upgrades cannot be lost even if your research stations are destroyed (in contrary to how tech buildings in C&C games work). Another might be that some upgrades are simply too good (like giving all conventional aircrafts shields, teleport, putting AA guns on all conventional land units, etc). It might make it too painful to transit from one unit type to another (such as from land to air) because they have completely different tech trees, although it's hard to tell because I don't play PvP myself.

      I think the problem with the tech system is players would focus on getting the energy conversion and turtle up to get the game enders. I like the idea of the tech tree, but I think it would have made it more interesting if it was more of a you can have this or that and when you made a choice you were locked out of the other. Starcraft II did that kind of thing with their campaigns.

      @@StrategicLaunch I don’t think encouraging turtling is one of the flaws of the tech system, since SupCom 2 replay casts are usually much shorter than Forged Alliance ones.
      I agree that the idea of mutually exclusive techs is interesting, however I would like to see the choice be done before the match (such as choosing a few special units/abilities and banning a few units/abilities from your opponent).
