This is my unworthy reaction to Chinchillas Song Shadows - My Chillybean informant tells me its not a popular one with reactors. Well luckily for you all...I am starving for content and dont have any friends to interfere with my availability. Such a beautiful song. This one became deeply meaningful to me; trying to navigate intimacy and the human condition is so very relatable. Her lyrics, melody, vocal timbre and understated yet still expressive performance all combine to make a perfect song that hits harder the more you listen to it. Thanks for the reaction, Yarbs🤘🤟

Hearing this song for the 2nd Time I really appreciate it a lot more. It’s odd but I do find this with Chinchilla, it was the same with “Elements”absolutely obsessed with that song, which wasn’t the case first time hearing it. I thought it was a bit odd 😂. Stay strong my friend ❤

Once you hear and process the lyrics everything clicks if it hadnt yet.
Her produced stuff is pop music mostly, but it is intelligently done so it stands out, imo.

This is one of my favorite songs by Chinchilla. I have seen somewhere (can’t remember where) that it is about an affair with a married man, which tracks well with the lyrics, but I am not sure if she ever confirmed that. I think it’s so beautiful!
Oh and Elle is amazing ❤️

Aww thanks Rachel, that’s very sweet. I’m no more amazing than any other Chinny or Ren fan though 😄❤ I had never heard that rumor behind the song before haha. To me, the lyrics are about the complexities of communication, the “meet me in the shadows” part referring to groping for the truth amidst the mixed signals we’re prone to giving between being “blinded by your gaze” [of adoration] and the honest affirmations of love which escape us because of our pride - the truth hiding in the shadows. Could just be me though 😊

@@ElleScamp I can definitely see that message. I think that the “married man” theory resonates in a few places- talking about “the things we shouldn’t talk about” and “I’ll be waiting in HER shadow.” Also “ cross that fine line” sounds like maybe they haven’t actually taken the step to a full blown affair yet which also fits with her being in the shadows/dark. It also sounds like she is hoping one day he will “open his eyes” and see that they should be together. It makes lot of sense to me when seen through that lens, and after I heard that info, the whole song seems to fit perfectly with that scenario to me. Hopefully she will go back at some point and do videos for her older songs and maybe it will shed more light on the meaning 🤞🤞🤞❤️
