Acording to the producers the Darold (the red carrier) was the prototype vessel of the Celvades class carrier ..and thats why its painted red (prototype-experimental).. also why it was relegated to training vessel.. I guess UX-01 (dimensional ship) wasnt painted red because it actually was used in the battlefield
either that or the UX-01's red paint kept flaking off or causing problems whenever it went in-between dimensions so they had to make a different laminate coating to preserve hull integrity or energy.
Earlier before This Scene, Domel's subordinate complained that the Imperial Guard (The Gamilas SS) won't let them borrow their ships despite the fact that Regular Army's fleet is 3 months away to get back, which is too late to intercept Yamato. Those Carriers Domel "Forced" to use are training ships with new recruits and retired old soldiers, hence I said that he has understrength army. If he had his own fleet with him, well, we already see what he can do with it in Ep.15 had we not?
:D It's not my translation, the only work I did was upload the bit. I think the translation was done by the Nubles sub group, all of the work belongs to them and the creators of Yamato 2199 ofc. Speaking of translation, there is some curiosity about the full version of the song (the 'discussion' about it is in Lumotaku's comment) care to wade in?
i think this scene is a tribute tu panzerlied'scene in "battle of bulge". if you pay attention, you can see other tributes to masterpieces of cinema and literature in outher yamato 2199 episodes. for example i love captain okita when responds in a offensive manner the gamilas during the pluto's battle (there is also in old series), like general cambronne during waterloo battle. simply awesome.
+machaiping Actually Domel didnt brought the carriers to front line, they tried to justify it in 2199 by having the 2 carriers follow behind the Domellus and Darold (red battlecarrier) for protection.. then Yamato blows the Darold wich causes Domel's fleet to evade and disperse.. Shuderg (blue carrier) is not lucky and collides with Darold's wreck.. then with the Lambea and Domellus separated Yamato picks Lambea and damages it (forcing it to abandon the battle) before the Domellus could react.. The Balgrey (green carrier) had separated earlier to launch the fighter decoy force and was hiden ..but was found and destroyed by Yamato's air wing it was a bit of streeth but at least they tried to make sense.. wich is better than the absurdity of the original (Darold blows up without even tryinf to avoid the drill missile and the explosion takes out all other 3 carriers).. also they fully used the Domellus, where in the original they forgot about not only the Domellus but about Domel's entire fleet
I can kinda live with the battle, it was the way it was for the sake of dramatic tension, and I can live with the plot armor/decisions, barely, what really turned me on was the 'Fighting Spirit trumps all, including quality and numbers' attitude and the inappropriate tone, for ex in the very first ep you hear some news report that "The human race may become extinct in the next year" and then you see all these 'battered','defeated','struggling','survivors' all being really happy and content for no reason. To be fair the anime is decent, I did watch everything until after they beat Domel, and I'm the kind of person who stops watching if I get annoying to much or bored to much.
Palora Yeah, also to be a "do or die" mission with the goal of save all humanity and earth nontheless i found quite odd that the Yamato had such luxury installations as cinema, sauna, japanese baths, observation longes and high quality food producing machines.. is like "we have to build this ship wich is our very last chance of survival.. lets make sure it has sauna and cinema and they really eat well".. up to including the embarrasing swim-clothing of episode 24 (i like to think those were made in the moment and werent there before)
Ok, wth was it with the final 3-4 episodes. Was Domel the final boss? Was it that way in the original as well? It's like the decided to rush the ending and so only had some token fighting and Wave Motion Gun firing and then changed their mind and decided to have a long ending with a lot of boring, cliche dialogue, fan favors, pointless left field "shocking" information with no real implication and a bunch of equally pointless, illogical battles. I wanted to like the series, I really did, but it's just full of boring cliches, repetitive, illogical and pointless most of the time, but at least the explosions look nice (that ramming looked gorgeous), but the new CGI Harlock movie was more exciting. It feels very dated in it's execution, very dated. Time to go searching for something good. To bad Yang Wen-li pisses me off so very much.
Palora Trust me ...its much much better than in the original. In the old one Domel was the comander of a 130 ship fleet (including the Domellus)).. then after some fruitless chases Domel simply challenged the Yamato to come to the Rainboy cluster and fight him to death.. Okita acepts the Challenge and Domel simply uses 4 carriers and a ridicolous comand "yath" (in 2199 the detached bridge of the Domellus) and dies .. In 2199 at least they provide reasons why Domel only had the carriers, uses the Domelus to the end and why the rest of the fleet is gone
+sparrowlt Its an improvement for sure ,but what really REALLY irks me is that they couldnt scrounge up a few destroyers or whatever to screen for the battle, I know the main fleet was stuck at Balun but there had to be at least a FEW knocking about to support the carriers.
And it was the might of the Imperial Astrofleets that held the line to the last against Gatlantis at the gates of Earth. Had Dommel been in command still, they would've turned the tide outright.
I need to find the instrumental version of this when Domel is about to die. The music reminds of the theme from Das Boot. So damned epic! Desslok! Desslok! Desslok! Desslok!
Melberlaze deyn Garmillon kash ya vamzas dam Salezar kharma det lept zestas Kliva dena Frideon, Gatlantis z Teron ya bass legens ornied Ghale Garmillon! grag dorlein nida bolmen-don-rieha

Did you all realize how it looks like the Das Boot theme? Not by chance, the first time this music plays the dimensional submarine is on the screen :-D

there are so many people with 1 brain cell who are losing their mind when the media is humanlizing the "villians" they wanted one dimensional villians, brainless story with flashy explosion and nothing to give the battles meaning

I readed that earth had developed good armour and damage control by the end of the war. Kirishima for example takes several direct hits and didnt blew or became dissabled (ok it was Okita's ship so it had plot armor). Any Gamilas ship is destroyed by a single hit from their own ships so the Kirishima allready had way better armor than the Gamilas ships, Yamato was the next step much bigger with even thicker armor
6 years later, but whatever. The ships who fought Kirishima were not elite ships like Domelaze, Desura or etc. When they are shot by Kirishima, they bounce. Yamato has big guns, so it makes sense the ships are oneshotted, but when yamato shot Domelaze, it bounced the front
@@desura5417 The Gamilas ships could bounce earlier Earth ships shots.. but they couldnt survive hits from Yamato or even themselves as even in the first episode we see a heavy cruiser destroyed bu a single shot from another Gamilas ship.. the Zoelgut class super dreadnought aparently has a impressive front armour that could bounce even Yamato 19" guns.. it couldnt survive however the flame gun from Gatlantis
I don't know about understrength ^^. The Yamato is just one ship, that happens to be better armed and armored then the enemy ships against which all other Terran ships don't have a chance, but that's plot armor for you. :D
Those are Training ships, they don't need to be that dull compare to those that send to warzone anyway. Think about mock combat exercise, so the recruits can know who's who without checking IFF. Red Carrier may signify that it can beat something up even without planes, as its flight deck isn't "normal" at all.

The one thing the reboot did MUCH better than the original is give you the Garmillon and their empire's motivation and internal conflict.

バルジ大作戦
Best scene in the whole Anime.
Curse you, Dessler! Curse you for wasting the lives of these fine soldiers!
"Sing."
"Louder!"

A nice nod to Battle of the Bulge and Panzerlied
I swear, the Very Second That guy started singing I sang along as well
i don't give a f* to how nazi gamilasians are, this scene is so intense and so epic...one of my favourite
Why am I crying?
Because you know how many of these men will be dead in a few episodes or by the end of the series
To quote a movie that influenced this series:
"Boys. Too many boys."
Nice to see our translations match up. I added a translation track to my cover.
At 0:20 all I did was salute at full attention. all hail garmillon.
i think this scene is a tribute tu panzerlied'scene in "battle of bulge".
if you pay attention, you can see other tributes to masterpieces of cinema and literature in outher yamato 2199 episodes. for example i love captain okita when responds in a offensive manner the gamilas during the pluto's battle (there is also in old series), like general cambronne during waterloo battle. simply awesome.
The Balgrey (green carrier) had separated earlier to launch the fighter decoy force and was hiden ..but was found and destroyed by Yamato's air wing
it was a bit of streeth but at least they tried to make sense.. wich is better than the absurdity of the original (Darold blows up without even tryinf to avoid the drill missile and the explosion takes out all other 3 carriers).. also they fully used the Domellus, where in the original they forgot about not only the Domellus but about Domel's entire fleet
Palora
Yeah, also to be a "do or die" mission with the goal of save all humanity and earth nontheless i found quite odd that the Yamato had such luxury installations as cinema, sauna, japanese baths, observation longes and high quality food producing machines.. is like "we have to build this ship wich is our very last chance of survival.. lets make sure it has sauna and cinema and they really eat well".. up to including the embarrasing swim-clothing of episode 24 (i like to think those were made in the moment and werent there before)
Ok, wth was it with the final 3-4 episodes.
Palora
Trust me ...its much much better than in the original.
+sparrowlt Its an improvement for sure ,but what really REALLY irks me is that they couldnt scrounge up a few destroyers or whatever to screen for the battle, I know the main fleet was stuck at Balun but there had to be at least a FEW knocking about to support the carriers.
this peaceful oh love it im puting on loop
Sing.
*sings*
LOUDER!
*sings louder*
In the end it wad a win win. Earth and Garmillas became allies at the cost of many lives
And it was the might of the Imperial Astrofleets that held the line to the last against Gatlantis at the gates of Earth. Had Dommel been in command still, they would've turned the tide outright.
青き花咲く大地気高き我が故郷よ
響け歓喜の歌
神の加護は我らと共に
あり続けん
ガーレガミロン讃えよ祖国の勝利を
バジル大作戦を思い出す
I need to find the instrumental version of this when Domel is about to die. The music reminds of the theme from Das Boot. So damned epic! Desslok! Desslok! Desslok! Desslok!
ガレガミラス
When the ''bad guys'' are touching usually means it is a great movie... And the hell it is! :-D
Never forget: Earth's shoots First!
ALL PRAISE THE GAMILAS!
I mean, they ARE Xenos, but humans are even worse, so... I think I'll remain neutral.
Melberlaze deyn Garmillon

Ghale Garmillon! grag dorlein nida bolmen-don-rieha
未履修ですが、これは「バルジ大作戦」の戦車の歌のシーンと同じニュアンスのカットでしょうか。
I've added a link to a full version of the song in the description as well as in an annotation link in the first 10 seconds of the video.
I think that is the original song.
Yes
Ghale Garmillion! Hail to the victory of out home
Ghale Garmillon!

Gāre fezeron!
This scene inspired by the old film "Battle of the Bulge".
Did anyone else notice the blue hitler guy fucking cheated on his holo chess thing? He moved his piece, and then a second later he moved it again despite his opponent not moving any pieces yet!
It's alien future chess. Different rules, also, he's the Emperor he does what he wants :D
I love this scene
You realize that bad guy song is the nation anthem
Than you remember the last time we heard it
When a planet full of people was bombed to ash
Fantastic!
Why does this remind me of the moment in battle of the bulge when the Germans started singing panzerlied?
Because it's very likely inspired by it. :D
Did you all realize how it looks like the Das Boot theme? Not by chance, the first time this music plays the dimensional submarine is on the screen :-D
Thanks for the annotation!
Good thing they can be restored ^w^
With how the earth currently is I honestly wouldn't mind an intergalactic empire coming to take us over.
The problem is that this empire didn't really wanna take us over as much as wipe us out as a species.
@@Palora01 No, they did want to take us over. Shultz (the Zaltzian commander) only resorted to asteroid bombardment after suffering a catastrophic defeat at Mars. He even questioned why Earth didn't just surrender like his planet did in the past.
Not all Gamilon are Gimleh.
GESCHAN JUMP!
So fucking inspiring.
Chills.
there are so many people with 1 brain cell who are losing their mind when the media is humanlizing the "villians"
they wanted one dimensional villians, brainless story with flashy explosion and nothing to give the battles meaning
Oh yeah, I remember that, but I assumed there weren't many of those , and/or that they are tied down to the defense of the home world and not easily released to other tasks, especially something as risky as attacking the lone ship that inflicted horrible damage to the regular fleet and stranded it there.
Give it a couple of weeks an I will release a English version on my second account
Good old space natzis

バルジ大作戦のオマージュ???
As is usually the case, the Gamilas people were mostly a decent sort while the leaders were the real evil. Poor Domel... sent into battle with a rag-tag crew and old junk ships.
Is it me, or is this scene based on "Battle of Bulge" Panzer Lied scene?
Sound like singing Panzerlied
to be fair in the first fight with domel his dreadnought was able to go blow for blow with Yamato for a little bit in the end it was domels cockiness that screwed him over
英語のコメント多いけど彼らにはどんなふうに聞こえてるのかな?
Prototype of this scene - ruclips.net/video/YPzTGx96P6U/видео.html
Don't bother clicking the link. The video's been removed for "vIoLaTiNg YoUtUbE's PoLiCy On HaTe SpEeCh," because RUclips is a fucking joke that can't tell the difference between a 50's war movie and an actual Nazi propaganda video
Interesting, thanks for sharing ;-)
Like to see a dub version of this
We need the slow instrumental version
@@shasotirgis didn't even know there was one
I wish they sang it into Gamilas language!
It'd be AMAZING
バジル大作戦思い出す😅
Elk Domel and the captain of the submarine are badass even though the want the Yamato destroyed.
Also glorious mustache.
Best hymn ever
Gare Gamilon!!! Soto Banzai!!!
Eh, I actually like the Macross Anthem more, it's less derivative (afaik) and more solemn.
ruclips.net/video/ee55r9G48Oc/видео.html
I don't know about understrength ^^. The Yamato is just one ship, that happens to be better armed and armored then the enemy ships against which all other Terran ships don't have a chance, but that's plot armor for you. :D
Those are Training ships, they don't need to be that dull compare to those that send to warzone anyway. Think about mock combat exercise, so the recruits can know who's who without checking IFF.
Red Carrier may signify that it can beat something up even without planes, as its flight deck isn't "normal" at all.
Galè desler!
