Skiing is much easier to learn for sure. I started skiing after 12 years of boarding just for fun and it's great to be able to do both. A lot of the techniques are very transferable between the two. I don't think one is better than the other. They all have pros and cons and very condition dependent. I found I love skiing more in the morning when the snow is hard and fast. When the snow gets softer towards noon and afternoon, I like boarding hitting sidehits and park.
Loving your videos Bag o', I love that you ask the question in the beginning of the video and immediately answer it, after which you explain very well why. The build up of your videos is nice, clear and not too long. I like the way you use your own experience and make it very clear to understand how it feels to do the things you explain. Keep up the great work, my man!
After skiing and snowboarding for over 25 years, it wasn’t until last season that I started liking snowboarding over skiing. I think it’s great to be good at both and have the choice for whichever one you’re in the mood for (sometimes both in one day). It’s nice to ski with skiers and ride with riders. They’re similar, but two different activities to me.
As someone who has snowboarded since the 90s and will be trying skiing this year, I'm glad to hear this :) I rollerblade a lot and people said it's really easy to learn skiing if you do that as well.
I've tried both. I'm from Brazil and living in Canada, and I had never seen snow until 2/3 years ago. My father-in-law is a skier, and he taught me both. I tried skiing first, but I kept falling because my feet were always positioned wrong and man the ski boots is so uncomfortable. With snowboarding though, I was able to stay up and ride down the bunny slope for at least 50-100 meters. I'm an intermediate snowboarder now. I can ride on blue runs, and this season, I'll try my first black run. This next season will be my second full season because I was introduced to skiing and snowboarding in March 2022 and only had about two months before the season ended.. I'm in my second board my first was Rossignol Evader and I bought Burton Custom full Camber
It's crazy timing for me that you just put this out cause I was JUST having this discussion with a friend who's never done either (I've tried both). I totally agree with your assessment. Skiing just felt more intuitive for me, and I feel like it likely does for most people. Still enjoyed boarding too, but this is great advice for anyone consider which to try for the first time. Great vid man, now I can just refer newbies to this explanation lol
Bro I love your content and thanks for making a great video..... but there is a difference between skidded and carved turns and calling skidded turns carves is a rookie mistake that matters. So many people learn to skid and think they are done learning and never get to carving.
A saying I heard before "Skiing is easier to learn yet harder to master, snowboarding is harder to learn but easier to master"
Yes but change one thing, snowboarding is harder to learn, easier to get decent at and learn some tricks but also very hard to master
Did you hear this from me because I’ve said that same exact thing like 10 times before
@@TweegTimothy No clue, I just heard it on an Instagram post haha

@@LingYao9001 thank you!!
I have kached so many edges on snowboards but
I have snowborded only one season last season but it's fun
I’ve done both and I like skiing more.

Both is nice
Snowboarding on the east coast isn’t worth it , you’ll be on ice more often then fresh powder so having two edges on skis makes for a better time
I feel like skiing is easier on groomers but harder in the park and snowboarding is harder on groomers but easier in the park
Skiing
