  • Unexpected hard and discolored ear wax due to use of Colloidal Silver. Colloidal silver is not recommend for use in the ears. We used 1% lidocaine with epinephrine to anesthetize the ear canal before attempting curettage of the cerumen. The colloidal silver had penetrated the cerumen, causing it to become harder and more difficult to remove from the ear canal.

    We recommended that the patient try over-the-counter Murine or Debrox earwax softener.
    We do not recommend using colloidal silver. It is usually used in alternative medicine or used in the practice of "natural medicine.

      Awesome!! And yep I'm here. Dealing with my daughter and her school, little girls bullying her so bad she doesn't want to go to school and it's making her physically sick. I am so heart broken for her bc this is her freshman year and it's not been a good one so far. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos. Keep up the great work!!

      People think colloidal silver will cure anything. Maybe he felt discomfort with the wax buildup in his ear and decided to pour silver in there. Or maybe that's just how he regularly takes it. My mom was an alternative medicine devotee and a lot of what they do is just inexplicable.

    I have a cousin that puts coilloidal silver in her 9 year old daughter's ear, and she always seems to have an earache or impacted wax. she actually believes the colloidal silver is making it better! Do you have a scientifc link that I can show her (besides this video)

    Isn't colloidal silver used in treatment of burns? Silvadene, or something like that? Is the difference in where on the body you apply it? Are there any valid uses for colloidal silver in medicine?

    • @auburnmedicalgroup
      @auburnmedicalgroup  8 лет назад +6

      Silver sulfadiazine is used for burns. We also use silver nitrate for chemical cautery. The silver from topical application of the silver sulfadiazine can cause permanent discoloration of skin, but usually it is not enough to cause significant toxicity. Colloidal silver is an alternative medicine product which has claims for curing just about anything your can imagine.

      Nope. That is disinformation. Ionic silver / colloidal silver does NOT cause argyria (blue skin).
      That papa smurf did it incorrectly by adding salt to increase speed of the process while making it.
      AND drank way too much of it.

    So glad you adressed the toxicity of colloidial silver. Ive seen peripheral neuropathy in individuals using it. Its sad to see it being still touted by some as a remedy.

    G'day Dr Mark Vaughan. I watched your video with interest. Colloidal silver is banned in Australia. I had an Aussie cousin residing in Utah who travelled to me in West Australia specifically to purchase some only to discover the ban. Dangerous stuff. Now we have proof. Cheers Murray

      Given that this is the only time I have seen this, I don't know if he just had really hard wax or if the silver made it worse.
