note:
this is part of the Requiem by Niccolo Jommelli,
the concert has been performed at the Liebfrauenkirche in Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt on 11.09.2012
and has been recorded with a Zoom Q3HD device, which records both, video and audio.
unfortunately I couldn't find a good place to record both sides of the ensemble,
which means, you cannot see SAT of the 3rd quartet.
note, that due to the acoustics, also the sound of this 3rd quartet is not exactly as it would be recorded, if the quartet could be seen...
I never heard this requiem. So beautiful.
another genius needing to be discovered!!!!!!
Agreed
Incroyable !
Thanks, I'll go find Saint-Saëns comments on Jommelli. Interesting.
Bello, e bravi i solisti!
Another genius of the Neapolitan School
What do you consider the others to be? Is there a general neglect and underrating of the school perhaps?
The neapolitan school started with alessandro scarlatti .then came vinci leo ,porpora, pergolesi, jommelli, traetta, piccinni, anfossi,
Demajo,guglielmi,sacchini,
paisiello,cimerosa,spontini,
Vincenzo bellini,mercadente.handel
hasse gluck,j.c.bach haydn and even mozart were completely under the influence of the music that came out of the school of naples
pure beauty and hope. Incredible performance.
This is very beautiful and for this time of the year....amazing. :)
I had never heard it before.
Thank you for the upload.
Heard a wonderful performance in Amsterdam by Ghislieri Choir & Consort, directed by Giulio Prandi!
What perfection: the conductor, the solists, the Choir , the orchestra: all totally top! Grazissimo

"Die alten Italiäner mit der Tiefe und schwermütigen Süßigkeit des Gefühls, die vornehmen Musiker par excellence, in denen das Höchste der Stimme als Ton übrig geblieben ist Das Requiem von Nicola Jommelli (1769) zum Beispiel, ich hörte es gestern - ah das kommt aus einer anderen Welt als ein Requiem von Mozart… " _Nietzsche_, Nachgelassene Fragmente, 1888, 25 [10].
Yes ! A discovery ! Absolutely exquisite and divine. Vox Luminis is superb. Christus vincit ! Christus regnat ! Christus imperat !
Excellent performance of a much under-rated and under-performed MdeP
Beautiful music. This seems to be the best of the three recordings on youtube. And very wonderful it is!
Magnifique merci à tous !
This must be one of the best Requiems ever. It is a real disovery for me and sends one's soul soaring even with the imperfect, slightly extended echo recording. Nevertheless, no words can describe the particular exquisite and heavenly beauty of Vox Luminis' interpretation. Zsuzsi Toth is absolutely divine, even above Lucy Crowe. There are two other versions on RUclips from highly regarded choirs but, for me, they cannot match this interpretation. Unfortunately, Vox Luminis have not issued a CD of the Jommelli 'Requiem' with Les Muffatis and the very same choir members. I urge them to do this as soon as possible: I cannot wait ! Finally, huge thanks and gratitude to Lionel Meunier for creating and directing Vox Luminis.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Adrien Madden Instablaster =)
@Timothy Braylen Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Timothy Braylen it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Adrien Madden No problem xD
musica bella, molto ..e ben eseguita
Magnificent! Bravissimi!
This is definitely my favourite performance.
So beautiful and spiritual it spoke to my soul. Listen to it in the dark and be overcome

Thank you. A very brief comment for the sound - unequal engistered due probably to the location of the microphones, a "flat" anti-echo which weakenes the clarity of the voices very often. I´m just making this comment without any minimal depreciation whatsoever - the performance is magnificent. Just to learn from experience of alive performances of such a jewels. Again, thank you, muito obrigado, best greetings from Portugal.
My comment about the microphones too, but the exquisite interpretation shines through. Right size and quality of choir and orchestra very well balanced. There is a brilliance about the performance.
Thank you veeeeeryyyy much
I love it!
Thank you for posting. Jommeli like so many Neapolitan geniuses that Mozart cut his teeth on...and stole from.
Very nice indeed
Helemaal nieuw voor mij en blij verrast. Ik kijk uit naar 2014 voor de cd
Baie mooi.
OMG that voice at 27' OMG
Anna Bonitatibus - Tradita, Sprezzata (Jommelli)
found this from Nietzsches notebooks
Is this the requiem that Jomelli wrote in 1756 for the mother of Carl Eugen (Duke of Württemberg)? If so, it's very appropriate that it should have been performed in Stuttgart, given that Jomelli was resident there roughly 1753-63 (and then for several more years in nearby Ludwigsburg)!
Yes Donald, it's this requiem as far as I know and it was for sure performed in Stuttgart, this is why Muzikfest Festival invited us to perform it there. All best wishes
Why do the British and the Americans never care about spelling correctly foreign names, especially Italian names? Please, it's Jommelli, not Jomelli.
Thanks for the correction, but 'British and Americans never care about spelling correctly foreign names' is a bit strong as a generalisation, surely....? @@vaderetro264
John Trotman English speakers in truth struggle a little more with pronunciation than spelling, particularly those from the US where we have a whole range of previously unknown composers such as Scarladdi (from Idaly apparently), and Baydoven etc.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 humour anglo-saxon?
Grandissima musica purtroppo poco eseguita.
Ups
Besser als Mozarts Reqiem, wie Nietzsche behauptet....???i
Yes. Mozart deeply admired Jommelli.
