    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  4 месяца назад

      No, you don't "need" one. If you've just got into the hobby and you have a way of driving these from your phone or computers, you're set. Before buying a dedicated DAC/Amp, you're better off owning higher end IEMs or headphones that can benefit from better hardware. The sub 2k IEMs aren't as transparent sounding as higher end stuff, so you may not hear that much of a difference with a DAC/Amp just yet.

    you are the only person in india that is providing quality reviews about audiophile products 🙌
    i was thinking to get into the audiophile genre, been using tws from a long time and thought of getting into iems, not sure where to start, kz zsn pro x, moondrop chu 2, tangzu waner, salnotes zero.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  6 месяцев назад

      Of the few you've mentioned, I haven't tested the Chu2 just yet, but my favorite is the KZ ZSN ProX. It's a good all-rounder and a very enjoyable listen. If you've got a little more to spend, consider the Simgot EW200. It's not really bass happy, but it's well structured and quite well defined. The KZ is more emphatic with the bass but the Simgot is terrifically detailed without giving the sense of giving you too much detail like the Tangzu.
      DAC/Amp I'd recommend, either the iFi Go Link or ddHiFi Hi-Res DAC. I've got a comparison video between these two. Have a look at it if you haven't already.

      @@PaulsPOV thankss... uh spending nearly 2.5 times the amount for simgot might be a problem ig.. but i'll see ... and also i am not sure about my preference just yet, one think i know is that i like a more open sound stage rather than being in a closed bubble, and also i like details but if the sound is too bright , i get pain in my ears.
      hope kz and simgot doesnt have these problems... and 1 last thing, do i really need a dac? i have one that came with my mi phone.. so i wasnt thinking to get one.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  6 месяцев назад

      Go for the KZ in that case. Have a look at my review on it. You'll benefit from the DACs I mentioned, more so if or when you get more high-end IEMs. I found those DACs to do extremely well with IEMs in the 10-20k price range. So it'll future proof you. The KZ is a great starting set of IEMs but if or when you decide to upgrade, don't get IEMs in the same price range, consider the Simgot EW200 and the likes in that range or even more expensive. The higher you go in pricing, usually gives you better engineered hardware.

      Well, the Tangzu is certainly more analytical than the KZ I've mentioned, but it's more tuned toward lighter genres. It can have an enthusiastic bass, but only when you're listening to a very good recording and mix. It's more transparent, so this happens rarely. The KZ is more likely to keep you interested in the IEM game as a starter set of IEMs since it's got more of a V tuning. It is well detailed and honestly, in this price range, the KZ is one set that actually made me take it out of my studio and ask my wife to give it a listen. It's genuinely impressive for its price. The Wan'er I'd say is more of a second set to own for specific genres.

    i loved your pov on these. recently i have been planning to buy my first iem and i am sort of confused between the 7Hz salnotes Zero and Tangzu Wan'er S.G. there is no specific genre as i listen to everything depending on the mood. half of my playlist is bollywood music, everything from retros to modern day soul soothers and bangers. the other half includes international pops, edms and hiphops. my present gear includes JBL T210, Sony WI-XB400, Oppo M31 and Realme Wireless Buds 2. I really like my previous gear but they lack details and instrument separation. also the dolby atmos streaming of apple music needs good soundstage and my present gear don't do justice. clean bass thumps, clear mids and lusious vocals along with smooth treble (hate sibilant treble as it hurts in long sessions) is what i'm looking for. i assume a little warm sounding will be better seeing my music preference but still looking forward for your suggestion. could you please suggest me one i should pick in this range. i am considering this an investment and if spending a little bit more money could get me better product then i am willing to do that too. please help me with this to start my audiophile journey :) i know it must be hard to deal with noobs like me but i really need your suggestion to embark on my audiophile journey.

      It's not hard to deal with first time audiophiles, I was one at one point of time, rather, I find it to be fun. I didn't have any proper guidance so am always glad to help someone whose looking for any.
      Considering you've been listening to wireless stuff, they tend to have a lot of bloat compared to audiophile grade stuff. So IEM wise, don't expect any ear wax loosening bass. It'll be delivered in a very calm yet detailed manner.
      Of the few I've tried, I quite like the Salnote Zero by 7Hz, KZ ZSN Pro X and now the Tangzu Waner. All perform well without causing fatigue and have great detail.
      All reviews are up on my channel, should you want to watch them.
      Have a look at my review on the Shanling UA1 Pro as well. Its worthwhile clubbing your IEMs with a good DAC/AMP for the best performance.
      Hope this helps.

      @@PaulsPOV thanks for the guidance, Paul! you have predicted it right, my present gear is mostly wireless ones and have that "extra-bloated-bass" that at times sounds clustered and eats up the micro details and clarity. probably that's the primary reason I entered the magical world of IEMs. but this world is overwhelming to me at first as there are tons of options to choose from.
      i have went through most of the IEMs videos of yours and loved your perspective on them. also that's the reason I have shortlisted the Salnotes Zero and Tangzu Wan'er. it seems like I am a bit inclined to the Wan'ers as they have smoother treble than Zeros and the vocal sounds better and luscious on Wan'ers (read that on Zeros the vocal sounds thin) without compromising on the imaging and clarity of Zeros. will those suit the musical preference of mine?! would you recommend the Tangzu Wan'er over the Salnotes Zero?!
      thanks for your help! thanks a ton for taking out time and helping me 😊

    • @PaulsPOV

      Between the two, they have different flavours, I'd say. I do like the detail the Waner has but sadly don't have the 7Hz to do a comparison or any A-B testing. Either way, it's not like one is better than the other, they just have slightly different characteristics.
      The good thing about them is that you won't hurt the bank too badly. 5-10yrs ago, if you wanted to get into HiFi, you'd have to spend 14-20k. Today for 5k, you've got a good set of IEMs and a good eongle DAC too.
      You're not making a bad decision with either of these IEMs, they're both great.

      One thing to keep in mind is that their microphones aren't great. I've found that pairing an Astell&Kern KB10 usually makes voice calls better for your fellow gamers or recipients over a call.
