I didn't know there was so much unused content in the beta. It's like a whole different game and the Cave Story we know is a sequel. So interesting to see how Pixel's vision has evolved.

Pixel had the game finished but when he showed it to a friend he got alot of criticism so he basically went back to the start to make his game the best it could be

I really hope this beta will
appear online soon, because
1. This looks very interresting
2. The footage just looks awful and the framerate is unacceptable
3. This is a completely different game from the final release

Unfortunately, that will never happen unless pixel sells his PC, or he does. He is hard pressed not to release this because it contains "bugs" I have messaged him before on his bbs when it was still open. I asked him about releasing it, and he is very hard pressed on not doing so.

I have a hunch, that the ideas, pertaining to player character, the Frog Prince, eventually made its way into a new game, one that we now know as Kero Blaster. This probably explains why it plays so much like Cave Story. In fact, Frog Prince's sole gimmick, his own ability to swim through water, is also the only mechanic (besides weaponry) that Kaeru can use, but Quote cannot.
