The health upgrade you get in hard mode is the on held by a dog in plantation. You can see the dog while rising in the rocket.
The jump that dodges Booster 0.8 is best performed feom the red marking in the ground.

If you do everything on this right but forget to return the mimiga mask to Mormorin, you will lose the ability to access the sanctuary.

I remember asking on the 3Ds miiverse on how to get the best ending lol, watching this vid makes me proud of future cave story players knowing how to get the best ending without spoiling anything major.

I’m currently doing another Cave Story + play through and I noticed that when you give the item to the doctor in the labyrinth and talk to Curly, there is additional dialogue if you leave and then come back after doing those two things.

Fun Fact: if you head into the Prefab Lab for the Best Ending, don’t save unless you have a decent amount of Health left from the last three boss fights, over 20 or around the maximum amount of health you can have in game (50ish health). If you have say 15 or 10 Health left, you might as well just redo the Misery, Doctor, and Undead Core boss fights till you have completed them with a higher amount of Health remaining.
Why? Good question. Once you enter the Prefab Lab and then enter the pit to the left, you’ll soon find out why you will need A LOT more health.

This game is amazing, but it's so obtuse I missed all this stuff even though I'm a fairly thorough guy. Plus that boss gauntlet at the end is absolutely impossible if you don't have the booster 2.0 and that fancy gun... Which I didn't. If you ask me that ridiculous difficulty spike is absolutely unforgivable.
You're very welcome! And yeah, the difficulty spikes a little too much for my liking as well in the end, but even so, I think the rest of the game makes up for it

do you know if the original cave story is harder than the newer versions. because when i watch videos people are taking way less damage than i am per hit

2:38 Someone told me you can get the tow rope after the core boss fight, but before you drown. Can confirm this indeed is true. Guess it doesnt matter, could shave a little time i guess for speedruns or something.
@06twar I don't think there is two ropes? I've never heard of anything like that before lol

i did everything up to draining curly. she talked, then went to sleep. so i just left her in the bed as i went. i realized something was wrong when i couldnt get the clock room timer and i didnt see her in that small room in the plantation.

Just in time for my revisiting of Cave Story since 2010! Buut, I only ever got the "regular ending" and it STILL beat my ass sooo I'm really scared to attempt this ;_;

First try i forgot to bring curly back from waterway room, and second try i messed up the ma pignon sequence and accidentally saved, i am really pissed right now

How is curly already at the rock in your play through, she is no where to be seen for me.
EDIT: Nevermind. I quit the game and went back to the clinic. Talked to everyone and went back to the room and she was there. So weird..
I'm glad you figured it out! And yeah, this game is super specific and strange. I really hope I didn't miss any info on the video, but knowing how particular it is to get the good ending in Cave Story, I wouldn't be surprised of something slipped through the cracks

There’s no harm in using level 3 machine gun to cross the gap I assume?
Of course, no harm in that! Just know there are other gun options people find much better if you didn't choose the gattling gun, which is why I didn't mention it

Unfortunately, you have messed up the run. If you haven't saved after that point, then you'd have to do it all over again

Hate to break it to you, but that's just an urban legend! But maybe the 4th ending was the friends we made along the way!
are there any tips & tricks to make this easier? or do I just have to get good?
The only advice I can give is to seek out all the health upgrades and try finding a weapon called "The Spur"
@@foxxarieis there truly nothing at all to be done? I've gotten the spur, the nemesis, all health upgrades (if you include the one found in the blood stained sanctum, I have 55 hp), but this part of the game seems impossible to me. I have beaten some tough games before, hell, I've beaten dark souls 8 times in like 2 months, but that seems like a game made for toddlers compared to this.
@@pressstart1604 Trust me, you've done all that you can in terms of upgrades. All you can do now is keep trying to defeat that final boss over and over again. I believe in you!

I did all the steps and somehow I the door wasn't open, although the ending I got wasn't that bad
That's very strange...I'm almost certain all the necessary details to achieve Best Ending are there. I'll replay the game once or twice onlyfollowing this guide as much as possible, and come back with my findings! This may take a while, because I am currently busy! Please bare with me

@revival_of_the_canned_justice That shouldn't affect the ending at all. Was the Final Cave harder than usual? That's the indicator that you did all the steps right, giving you an extra challenge before the triple boss fights

Hey, I have a question, altering the save file can also alter the ending?
@revival_of_the_canned_justice I have no idea, but in general, altering data in a game's code could lead to unforseen issues, so that might actually have ruined your opportunity to get to the Best Ending final sections. Sorry that happened to you!
Do i have to not take the machine gun?
You are not locked out of the Best Ending if you take the machine gun, however I reccomend not taking it because there is a better option later into the game :)
