I’m not into dolls, I don’t particularly care for dolls, I have no idea why or how the algorithm brought me here, but your vibe is so warm and you’re so knowledgeable about your hobby that I can’t help but subscribe! So great to see this little lady looking pretty again! I like to think that this doll was very loved by some little girl and she gets to live out her retirement with a sweet collector who loves her just as much in a different way. Time to binge all your vids! 😊
Maggie to the rescue @maggietotherescue I've recently begun rescuing American girl dolls and I use water color paint in the exact way you use the lipstick, rubbing with fingers. Turns out beautifully
I bought a Shirley Temple doll at a yard sale. I wasn’t going to get her but I was convinced I heard my dead mother in my mind say get her. Most of her curls are in tact but they do need work so thanks for your video it will help me restore her curls.
Thank you! I have my own Ideal ST-15 that I'd like to restore for my granddaughter. This video is very helpful. My Shirley has a couple of thin spots in her hair in the back; hopefully cleaning and curling it will hide those areas. What did you use for the blush? Was it lipstick? She has a yellowish tinge that doesn't come off; I have three younger sisters so she has had a lot of loving!
That's so wonderful! I bet the cleaning and curling will help hide the spots. Several viewers suggested using pastel on cheeks instead of lipstick if you want to give that a try. Let me know how it goes! 🤞🥰
You are a magician! I may need a real magician for my latest cabbage patch doll find. Someone has teased each ponytail and hairspray Galore. They look like Brillo pads. .. I’m going to wash her hair in downtown diluted as you have done with Shirley temple. I love how she turned out! Wow! I will take some before and after pics.. I’m hopeful, and trying to be optimistic! Lol. I’m not sure .. but it certainly can’t hurt!
Thank you! 💕 Woa...teased with hairspray is a big job for sure. But yes, fabric softener, wide toothed comb, start at ends and lots and lots of patience and a little fairy dust and miracles can happen! Let me know how it goes! Lots of luck!!
Margeeet!!! These are so freaking cute and cool!! Omgsh! The give me the tingles too so perfect to wind down at the end of the day and learn something new. Amazing job!! Love your channel! 🩷
You did a great job! I have a 36 inch Ideal Shirley Temple from 1960 that has extremely matted hair but luckily it's all there.I'm trying to decide if I'm brave enough to tackle it or try to find someone who knows how to do this kind of restoration. I'm afriad that I may do more harm than good.
Wow, a 36"! f you have a day or two to make it a project, I say give it a shot! You could try a test spot first on the back of her head. If that doesn't go well, then maybe pass her on to a professional. Hope it goes well!! 💕
Hi I just brought my Shirley Temple doll from my moms house and at some time her hair was straightened so I would like to try to recital it. Do you recommend a specific type of fabric softener. Is it normal hair conditioner you used afterwards? I will need to go buy both and curlers so I hope you see this and are willing to respond with suggestions. I’m 71 and I’m guessing my doll is 60-70 yrs old but haven’t checked her for markings yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi! First, make sure she is indeed plastic, not composition! Composition will be ruined by water. I just use Downy softener and then cheap human hair conditioner. Just rinse it well. It takes patience, but it's worth it! 🥰 Good luck!! I can't wait to hear how it goes! 💕
I got a porcelain doll that's rlly pretty and I'm gonna use this tut for her! I cant find any pictures or a date on her. She seems to be misssing a hat too, so gotta find her a fancy hat:D
My items like that are from years of hunting in thrift stores, doll shows, and estate sales. But you can find great doll shoes and socks on Ebay, Etsy, or at any doll supply company like dollspart.com! Good luck! 💕
@gretchennahas5994 Depending on how short...If you can get it into small perm rollers that could work. Or try wetting, twisting it into a curl, then securing with a bobby pin and letting it dry. Hope this helps! 💕
Once again you are treating the fibers like hair. If you would use really Hot water on the fibers it would have relaxed them so you would have been able to manipulate them back to their original shape.
Hi again! I love your passion for restoring dolls! Yes, I am actually experimenting more and more with hot water and boil washes. Do you have a tip for avoiding the scalp so the glue of the rooted hair doesn't melt?

Wow, thank you! Welcome to the channel!! This made my day. 😊 Enjoy! 💕
You did such a wonderful job restoring this little Shirley Temple doll. So inspiring. Thank you. 😊
Thank you! 🥰
Another fabulous video, strange as it seems it looks like her smile is bigger once she's restored to her former beauty.
Aww, I love that idea! Thank you!
I love the thoughtful curl analysis when you figure out how to style her hair!
Thank you! 💕
Wunderschöne Arbeit, super.👍👍👍❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹🌺🌺🌺🙏🙏🙏Danke fürs zeigen.
Thank you! 💕
@@MaggieToTheRescue very glady..❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️👍👍👍
You did an amazing job! Thank you rescuing her!❤
Thank you so much! 💕
So beautiful! Surprised the hair turned out so well.
Thank you! Me too! 😆💕
Be careful putting lipstick on the dolls cheeks as the oil may break down the plastic in the future. Great restoration 🎉
Good point! Just yesterday I was researching the chemical reaction of stain removers on plastic dolls. Thank you!
@@MaggieToTheRescue acrylic pencil crayons work the best in blushing and lips
Maggie to the rescue @maggietotherescue I've recently begun rescuing American girl dolls and I use water color paint in the exact way you use the lipstick, rubbing with fingers. Turns out beautifully
Thank you! I will try that! 💕
You can also blush vinyl dolls with Chalk pastels, just grate or scrape into a dust and apply with a brush just like human blush.

Aww, I love that! Good luck with her hair! Lmk how it goes. 🩷❤️
@MaggieToTheRescue I do think someone cut the back of my Shirley temple doll so I'm not sure if I can restore her curls in back of her head
Whatever you can do is great, even if you just focus on the front of her hair! 👍❤️
What a beautiful restoration! So cute. 😊
Thank you!! 💕
You did a wonderful job ! Love your work ! Keep going ! Love the video !
Thank YOU and thanks for watching!!💕

@@MaggieToTheRescue ahahah... I may have to make her into GI Jane ... she's so messed up. But the kids love these things.

I need to invest in some foam rollers. I was just working on a curly haired doll and wasn’t sure how to fix her curls
Perm rollers might be even better. Depending on the size of the doll cause they can create a smaller, tighter curl. Good luck! 💕
@@MaggieToTheRescue that’s a good idea too.

I have large perm curlers would large ones work good or should I use smaller ones?
Depending on the size of the doll, the larger ones might be great. But you might want to try a test curl or two just to make sure. Good luck!!
Can you use perm papers and perm curlers?
Yes! If I had perm rollers, I would have used them for a tighter curl. 💕
I am restoring a shirley temple doll, can you tell me where you get shoes and socks that fit her and other dolls?

Wendy Darling ❤️ toddler version in the thumbnail
My doll has very short hair in the back. Is it possible to curl that as well?
@gretchennahas5994 Depending on how short...If you can get it into small perm rollers that could work. Or try wetting, twisting it into a curl, then securing with a bobby pin and letting it dry. Hope this helps! 💕
Do you take dolls and fix them for people? Could i ship you one? 😅
Interesting! If you want to send me an email at maggiesdollrescue@gmail.com we can discuss!
