Hi! Thank you. I totally agree about water with lots of dolls! I'm learning to just use a baby wipe when possible. But in this case that awful fungus had to go. The denture cleaner was recommended by a professional doll restorer specifically for Crissy eye mold. It worked wonders. No scratches (like other methods can create). And I got 100% of the water out of her head. BUT that part I need to do without removing her head!

Thank you so much! 💕 Maggie is just a little generic doll I've had for years. My guess is the mold is from being in a moist environment. Often dolls kept in basements will get moldy. Thanks again, so glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the tip! I'm curious if you know what kinds of doll eyes it's best for? My eye doc said not to use alcohol on my plastic glasses lenses so I just translated that to doll eyes. But maybe that's different?

Hi! Unfortunately, these sweet dolls are too old and the fabric and yarn have "dry rotted" and would fall apart in the wash. That's why I did the video! 🥰 They had no dusty smell at all, so I was lucky on that count. 💕

Old dolls like this one are filling with poor material, with the water you will have stains and they do not dry too. Some dolls have wire inside their body. And the fabric is usually too old to be washed.

Depending on her age and the condition of her fabric, you may be able to wash her! But if she's very old, a makeover is probably best. Good luck! 💕

@SmallPlasticWorld Yes! Same. I still buy so many things made of plastic, but trying to use thrifted items when I can. I also shy away from stuffed animals because we live in an apt without a washer/dryer. But I do manage to hand wash & dry sometimes. Thanks for comments & for watching! 💕

@@MaggieToTheRescue I don't think I have any after a few moves, gave them away. I made a mermaid lady once with teal tail and clamshell fabric bra. Baby dolls, even modified a flat doll pattern into cats, adding ears and a tail. And upside down dolls. All my patterns gone now.

How wonderful! JDK faces are so beautiful. Most have similar bow lips and multi stroke brows. Does she just have a number on the back of her head? If so, you are probably right! Lucky you, and lucky doll to have you to restore her!💕

@@MaggieToTheRescue Yes, She is a D series model 174. The full back of the head says D "made in Germany" 8 with the number 174 beneath that. It took a while but a found a 174 picture. I am seeking a wig for her. Her eyes are brown and her eyebrows ash brown. Do you know what a family would have paid for her in her time? She belonged to my dad's stepmom whom he loved dearly. She was an only daughter.

How wonderful! It's a doll lover's dream to have a beloved doll passed down to them. I don't know much she would have cost originally, but I'm sure any German bisque doll as a gift at that time was an expense and treasured! The Florence & George site has some books that are reprints of original catalogs...maybe you could find out that way? Good luck, so glad she is in good hands! 🥰

@DebsDollRoom I found alternating warm & cool settings on a hairdryer can help. The small sponge rollers are good cause you can wind the hair as loose or tight as desired. But the biggest help is when the doll comes with some "natural" curl or wave in the first place! 😊
