This was so cool! What great tips for fabric dolls. I hadn’t even thought about restoring them before. I like to buy plastic dolls second hand and make them my own usually. They turned out so great.
@@GrannyNoodles Thank you!! I love them too. Imagining the hand that made them as well as the love they've received makes them extra beautiful to me. Thanks for watching! 💕
How wonderful that you rescued these adorable dolls!! I shy away from stuffed dolls and animals when I am getting stuff second hand because I don't know how to fix them up but this helps! I agree about the overwhelming amount of plastic, and while I do buy new dolls I try to thrift things more often to help keep plastic out of landfills and the ocean :)
@SmallPlasticWorld Yes! Same. I still buy so many things made of plastic, but trying to use thrifted items when I can. I also shy away from stuffed animals because we live in an apt without a washer/dryer. But I do manage to hand wash & dry sometimes. Thanks for comments & for watching! 💕
My brother was in the Coast Guard, and my Mom made him a little sailor doll that looked like your little sailor doll. I love this!💜💜💜 The doll was kept in a shadow box. He was so cute.
Cornstarch and makeup powder, who knew?! I started sewing cloth dolls in the late 70s, and remember seeing patterns that looked like these dolls. Simple paper patterns with no photos, just line drawings. Haven't sewn in years now. Your dolls are adorable.
That's wonderful. Do you still have any that you made? With fabric from the 70s I assume you could hand wash or throw in a machine? Thanks for watching! 💕
@@MaggieToTheRescue I don't think I have any after a few moves, gave them away. I made a mermaid lady once with teal tail and clamshell fabric bra. Baby dolls, even modified a flat doll pattern into cats, adding ears and a tail. And upside down dolls. All my patterns gone now.
I so love how you restore these dolls! I usually don't buy used stuff dolls as I have so many allergies. But I could use this method on some of the stuffed dolls I already own. Wonderful job!!
@DebsDollRoom Thank you! If you have allergies, I do think a little vacuum could help (if your dolls aren't washable in water). Appreciate you watching! 💕
I love your dolls and your cleaning tips will come handy for restoring cloth dolls. I recently found a vintage Little Red Riding Hood Tipsy with Granny and Bad Wolf (3 in 1) doll. She is made of cloth and I was hesitant on how I could clean her but now I will use your tutorial to give her a nice makeover. Thank you so much for your videos. 🥰
I don't want to offend you.....but why don't you wash the bodies or the whole doll and the wigs with hot water and laundry soap and sanitizer? They are very dirty, if you wash them the chocolate colored water comes out! I'm the ones I find at the street markets. 'used I wash and disinfect all of them, including fabrics, hair, clothes and padding....It makes me sick to touch them first...and they are often really filthy! I see in various US videos that they place them on beds, sofas, rugs, carpets , ugh, why?
Hi! Unfortunately, these sweet dolls are too old and the fabric and yarn have "dry rotted" and would fall apart in the wash. That's why I did the video! 🥰 They had no dusty smell at all, so I was lucky on that count. 💕
Old dolls like this one are filling with poor material, with the water you will have stains and they do not dry too. Some dolls have wire inside their body. And the fabric is usually too old to be washed.
Another wonderful transformation! You really breathe new life into these forgotten treasures. It’s always a joy to watch you work with an abundance of care and patience 👏♥️👏♥️
I read one time that the spray carpet cleaner in a can that you spray then let dry then vacuum could be used on cloth dolls. I have never seen this technique done and I have never had a doll to try it on myself. Have you ever heard of this?

Acqua calda e sapone ....a meno che non sia una Lenci Torino.
Depending on her age and the condition of her fabric, you may be able to wash her! But if she's very old, a makeover is probably best. Good luck! 💕
