(Pinky allowed for grouping units) -Can you beat any two campaigns at the same time on casual? I love watching these playthroughs and hearing your commentary. The starcraft 2 campaigns bring me back in the best possible way.

Starcraft 2 Without doing ANY challenge?! (Wings of Liberty) Ok, so the ruleset of this run is that it can't be a challenge run. Since there's only one rule this seems simple at first glance but it quickly becomes clear to me that this is a paradox. Now, to get around the paradox I had to enlist some of my viewers to help me find a way to break casuality...
Can we all just appreciate the fact that this game is so well designed / dynamic that it is even possible to do this kind of run. Also, your a mad man. My sanity would have been lost 5 runs ago XD. Good stuff.
Wow, "Sinister Turn" was something. I remember watching it in archives, so I thought it would be "mathematically impossible" as was concluded. Who would have thought that you just need to do some 5d chess to break that math of our boring realm into math of Grant-Is-Very-Cool realm.
I just realized, that after playing this campaign several times, I never opted for the air version of All in, I didn't even know there was a leviathan, I just didn't want to deal with mutas and broodlords.
Haven's Fall: When the enemy goes to infest a colony, if you clear the defenders and let the virophage finish and then kill it (and the colony buildings, but you can clear them while the virophage builds), then you never have to deal with that colony again. Rinse and repeat until all colonies are infested and then easily cleared and you no longer need to scramble or clear overlords.
Super pleasantly surprised that you made this into a main channel video! Wasn't sure what to expect after all the Deathless and Main Unit Only challenges. I watched a lot of this as VODs on the other channel, but wasn't expecting you to make it a main channel video. This video really reminds me why I love this style of edited content. Hearing the explanation of 'A Sinister Turn' was a fascinating experience, and something that can be easily missed amongst 8-12 hours of VODs. I have started watching a lot of your VODs on the other channel, and I don't plan to stop, but I will always be super excited for any main-channel video you post for all the fascinating insights you have about this game.
Thank you Grant. I've been watching your channel since HOTS Deathless and enjoying it so much I got into playing Starcraft Coop with a mate of mine. And your strategies and cheese have saved me during missions several times. Just the other night, I was playing A Sinister Turn and we were STUCK. Maar kept respawning too quickly and I broke my army on the enemy's main base. It looked like a reset, but I thought what would Grant do? So I pulled the boys, dodged Maar, rushed through the enemy base and parked them behind the Preservers. Then I did the same trick you did in this vid, taking down preservers with drones and then hiding from Maar.

I was kind of hoping for you to talk a whole bunch about how you needed 25 protoss research before the BC mission to get the Drop Pods and then realize that they're useless for this run.
Omg these challenges are killing me. I used to go, "nah, there's no way you can get through this without losing a unit." or "It's impossible to go through all this with only zerglings." But at this point I can't even tell where the line is that somethings *does* become impossible. Next challenge it's gonna be "Can you beat >insert RTS< without playing it." On a more serious note, this is extremely impressive.

I watched this run on the archives, and I didn’t know that you were eventually able to beat A Sinister Turn. Your commentary on that mission was fascinating. I wonder why they would make that mission first, especially since they knew that the first campaign would be a Terran-centered campaign. Was that mission just a software test which they eventually put into the game? Or did they plan the Zeratul plotline before making any other missions? I’d love to hear more about this.
It could also be that they had a bunch of other missions done in Sinister Turns programming style, but threw them out the window because they had better ideas in the pipeline. Or this mission was the only one that was far enough into production to not re-do. Or this mission was expected to be simple enough that they should build it first. Or... well... I can keep going.
From a lore perspective, they knew they had to expand upon the hybrid after Brood War (where a secret mission teases them), so presumably this was made to test that using known quantities and without having to worry about creating new units for the player, seeing as this isn’t the Protoss campaign.
Do we know which race was finished first? That could explain why it's protoss on protoss, if terran and zerg hadn't been finalized yet. I've also always wondered why those protoss have that dark coloration which shows up nowhere else, I always thought it looked really interesting, like a proto-Tal'darim.
@@BigBoneBusiness If I remember correctly, they started by importing existing Brood War units for all three races. Marines, Battlecruisers, Zealots, Carriers, Zerglings, Mutalisks, and more were all present in very early builds of SC2. So they would have had prototype versions of each race which they could use to make maps. I'll have to do more research on this. Also, the skins are great. I'm pretty sure skins are purely aesthetic, so they wouldn't affect the core mission mechanics. For example, a skin wouldn't change the collision mechanics or anything like that.
This challenge is completely insane. Between beating a mission with literally 6 probes to using the AI’s complete map vision against itself. This takes a complete mastermind to pull off.
Oddly enought that makes the whole thing more realistic because lets be honest building a tank at the frontline or training new recruits in the liddle of an active battlefield is not something you would normaly see
Tbh i mostly see it as the troops/tanks/etc being called to action. Putting on the armor. Checking systems. Since they wouldnt be ready instantly. Even in a war zone
@@fossilizedanimals5503 The books basically support this idea. I vividly remember the book focusing on the Rebel Yell evacuation mission, in which one of the scenes describes the interior of a CC full of unmanned SCV mechs waiting to be used. Likewise, all of the marines are shipped in advance with their gear mostly on-hand besides weapons and ammo. For the Zerg, they hide a lot of their forces underground in preparation for battles, and keep a bunch of eggs mostly matured, but not quite hatched until they're needed. The Protoss just warp in most of their forces from other locations, so similar to Terrans, with all of their units prepared in advance.
A sinister turn might be the craziest thing you have done, except maybe the blindfolded run. What the actual fuck. The entire segment I was just waiting for you to move on, and was confused why you would take so much time explaining why it didn't work, it should have been obvious with 6 probes..
As always, Grant, the video is fantastic, and your tactics simply brilliant. I’m not sure a whole lot of other people could have had the patience to deal with that as you have and still come out loving the game as much. You and the community really have put the passion back into the SC2 campaign and I am incredibly grateful for that.
I just came from your warcraft 3 deathless run videos, and have only just started this one, but your strategy in these games is surreal. its incredibly impressive.

And sometimes, it's both.
The positioning you used on Outbreak and All-In was stellar, and really cool strategizing.
Hope we will get to see some of your other recent challenge runs here soon too, I have been watching them on the other channel.
I thought the Ghost rapid-fire Snipe technique (where you work keyboard/mouse settings) was the most advanced as you can get but Grant checking the editor for triggers and looking through the mission's programming is unbelievable. And with just probes. Lol

Okay tough guy, i've got some challenges for you:
-Can you beat any of the campaigns without pressing the "attack move" key or using any groupings?
-Can you beat any of the campaigns, but taking a half shot of 70 proof vodka after every mission?
-Can you beat wings of liberty brutal without spending any credits or research points?
-Can you beat any campaign using only your index finger from each hand? (Pinky allowed for grouping units)
-Can you beat any two campaigns at the same time on casual?
I love watching these playthroughs and hearing your commentary. The starcraft 2 campaigns bring me back in the best possible way.

Ok, so the ruleset of this run is that it can't be a challenge run. Since there's only one rule this seems simple at first glance but it quickly becomes clear to me that this is a paradox. Now, to get around the paradox I had to enlist some of my viewers to help me find a way to break casuality...
@@SH4D0W0733 pretty funny
Oh man, he better make a main channel video about his pacifist run. It was absolutely incredible.
There's saying "This mission can't be done with this ruleset", and then there's Grant.

Also, your a mad man. My sanity would have been lost 5 runs ago XD. Good stuff.
15:04 "I send my factory on a sneak attack..." is a line I would never imagine to hear.
I thought you'd do something remotely sensible like only making new units and not new buildings, but this… you're a madman sir.
Aw yeah, this should be a fun one
Now we're learning all the secrets of the game. Thanks, Giant Grant Game and his teams
Those vikings deserve a promotion.
I've already watched the streams and vods of this but the video is still crazy. I'm amazed that a way to beat A Sinister Turn was actually found.
its really funny that I barely completed the normal difficulty campaigns and then you manage to do it without any production. bruh....subscribed
Holy smokes, the way you and your community figured out how to beat A Sinister Turn is jaw dropping.

Imagine if you had C&C unit experience mechanics? The same ones copy of which were tested during development of SC2 and were later on given to coop commander version of Mengsk

Next challenge it's gonna be "Can you beat >insert RTS< without playing it."
On a more serious note, this is extremely impressive.
"GiantGrantGames uploaded: Can you beat Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty with only SCVs?"

I like the structure and storytelling in this one

Watched the VODs of this stream as they were released. You never fail to impress me, Grant. Good stuff.
I love all these incredibly unique missions with four things around the map. Truly a masterclass of mission design.
Why does it make me happy to know that not only did Davey Gunface do this first, but Grant decided to do it because the two talk and are friends.

Well, you did in fact produce something: An excellent video, showcasing a fascinating challenge :)
Thank you, and I hope you have a great day ^^
I watched this run on the archives, and I didn’t know that you were eventually able to beat A Sinister Turn.
Zeratul was meant to be main character of Lotv instead of Artanis
And here I am dying on normal mode with building units. You sir are a legend
This challenge is completely insane. Between beating a mission with literally 6 probes to using the AI’s complete map vision against itself. This takes a complete mastermind to pull off.
You managed to pull off A Sinister Turn!?
Holy crap dude, well done!
This has got to be one of the more impressive challenges you've completed.
I miss your stories about why your challenge exists in cannon. I liked learning that the mercenaries that Arthas hired went on to lead happy lives.
