Very close, but a subtle detail was missed. Its not the upstroke activation itself thats the problem. Its the fact that the input of releasing the key counted as both an activation AND deactivation. This broke the "one input, one action" rule for OSU.
If you watch the original clip from the OP they mention it's only the upstroke that's the problem not the dual input on a single key. Basically he showed double tapping with two keys (one activating on the upstroke only) to get 100% accuracy. Wooting isn't doing multiple inputs on one key so *they thought it should be allowed.

@@takeyoshifulbasically means that you can just press both buttons on the same time and get the better accuracy on faster maps rather than accurately alternating the keys on faster sections
@@takeyoshiful you can get better accuracy while not tapping as fast as you should be. doing that method of double tapping two keys at the same time on streams or bursts without this setting usually results in very bad accuracy

In case this isn’t sarcastic or a joke, a bpm is a musical term and it simply means "beats per minute". It’s also used elsewhere like in hospitals to talk about heart rates. In cpr, they tell people to sing staying alive because it’s roughly 100bpm. Hope that helps

It seems weird to me. It's apparantley the most used keyboard for OSU! So to me it seems people are mosee upset they didn't think of it first. Now, the guy shouldn't have hid what he was doing and should've told the OSU! community about it.... but it's one of the built in festures of the most popular OSU! keyboard, just about all of the top players could do the same thing
(Edit: okay, the video I originally watched didn't mention Macros being "unfair" in the OSU! rules. I can totally see how this is considered a macro and makes sense)

funny because 3/4 key binds are legal since they are 1 button = 1 action, just requires a different technique
Slight correction plasma and cloutiful(the cheater) are actually friends and he was the one who showed cloutiful this trick in the beginning without knowing he would use this to cheat

I love how wooting is genuinely trying to improve gamers' experience with making the best product possible, while also being able to listen to players and developers on what is/isn't an unfair advantage
You forgot to mention that Cloutiful was initially making excuses of not doing a live play to prove his innocence. And when he did do the live play, viewers noticed that he switched profiles using fn + enter to make it seem he was legit, though it was very obvious when he did it.

Craziest part is that all this stuff was revealed when someone noticed that his pressing time was stable 63 ms with double time mode (1.5 speed), and 42 ms with no mod

this is the problem with making your game's rules reliant on assumptions you make on the player's input hardware. you could design a key switch that is entirely mechanical in design that only sends a signal on the upstroke, so the macro rule wouldn't even be in the conversation at that point.

To be fair osu!'s rules have changed just recently to further clarify the hardware issues, but even the previous versions of this rule said the following : _Using third-party utilities of any kind to get any sort of _*_advantage_*_ is not okay._ , with the word advantage being important here.
By using the Dynamic Keystroke feature cloutiful was capable of doing something that 99% of the osu! community was incapable of doing without proper hardware and config, thus getting an advatage.
The game is just trying to set an equal playing field.

I feel like we’re missing that Razer introduced this feature first and it blew up for making tap strafing incredibly easy to do and Wooting only introduced this feature to stay competitive, literally saying that they disagreed with the direction the software was going or something like that
No they didnt? Razer introduced a different game breaking feature a few weeks ago but wooting keyboards have had this feature for 5 years now
That's an entirely different feature.
You're referring to razer's snap tap, which wooting later introduced.
This is wooting's "Dynamic Keystroke", which cloutiful (the cheater) set to have the input only happen when he releases the key.
Compared to razer's "Snap Tap" which makes it so you're only pressing one key at a time effectively.
There are a lot of things being misrepresented here

@@mrigankbhatnagar3319 most competitive players are not professionals and don't make any money off of playing that way. i wasn't specifically complaining about players anyways. games are just by nature more competitive now and many games have rankings or competitive modes now and often gives you rewards for playing those modes. this was not always commonplace, also companies such as wooting making products like this to give as much of a competitive advantage when it shouldnt matter at all. it is a video game and the purpose of it should be to be fun, when people use products like this they force it on you aswell because they get an advantage over you and regardless of if you are playing for fun or competitively either way you wouldn't want to play against someone who just has a straight up advantage over you it is both unenjoyable and unfair.

You do know that people find fun in different ways. There are people that find seeing cool stuff happening on screen fun while others wanting to be the very best at a game fun too. Even back then simple games with no leader boards, people will always find a way to make it competitive in order to see who the best is.

The point of buying these keyboards is to get an unfair advantage. Wooting needs to understand the point of their boards. If it breaks a game it breaks a game sucks to suck. Ai features are gonna ruin all multiplayer games in a few years anyway and we’ll have to switch to consoles for a locked down environment

This isn't cheating in any way. Changing your keyboard's keys, switches, or angle has much more of an effect. Especially pen vs mouse.
The reason why it's cheating is that it breaks the rule of "one action must equal one input". In this case, letting go of the second key not only activates it, but also deactivates it making it equal 2 inputs with only one action.

When you press down a key, it activates, but it doesn't deactivate when you press all the way down, you have to let go in order for it to deactivate it. With the settings that the top player used, letting go of the key activated the key, and then also deactivated the key in one motion without any other input needed.
