Thank you so much for posting this. It is so hard to even find measurements on these speakers (which i assumed were 4x6 by measuring the panels) even 3 years later this video comes through. I love my truck but the factory speakers suck! that plastic trim gets to me... Either way, I thank you for using your time to record this for me and the other GM owners.

Thank you for this. Not only did you save me a ton of time, but had you not mentioned how difficult the clips were, I would've assumed I forgot to remove an unseen screw and may have given up out of fear of damaging the panel.

GB Adventures I did! Got the speakers out remarkably quickly.
On average I find that my projects take ~400% longer than I ever anticipate. Because of your video, I was able to remove the panel, remove the speaker, and replace the panel in about 20 minutes, which was about 25% as long as I thought it would take.
Your filming angles made it abundantly clear precisely what needed to be done.
      Thanks again!

Being that there are NO videos on CREW CAB rear pillar speaker replacements (4x6 OEM). Thought I'd post a few observations here.
On my '99 Chevy, I discovered that the rear speaker plugs ARE DIFFERENT than the front and NOT compatible.
Even though they are listed as front and rear application. At least for the crew cab, they are not the same.
Use 72-4568 for FRONT adapter harness,
but you need 72-4500 for the PILLAR speakers.
Crew cab doesn't have rear door speakers available, though the provision is there (Grills. Not necessarily wiring).
because Suburban uses exact same door and has door mounted speakers.
The pillar trim removal is insane.
Unlike all other videos I've seen, the crew cab trim is screwed into the pillar instead of using clips. Plus you have a storage/car jack tray (and seat belts) in the way.
Center trim, below back window, is a breeze...2 clips, but doesn't really need to be removed to get to the speakers.
The center roofline trim, this is ridiculous!
The center trim piece is wedged between 2 layers of the pillar trim!
I don't know why they did this. It makes removal of the pillar trim almost impractical. I just crowbarred it loose and broke the screwed clip off the pillar trim, because I couldn't get to the screw! Otherwise, I suppose you'd have to remove not only the hanger clips, but also the light fixture from the center trim, and try to bend it in the middle to unlink it from the 2 side pillar sandwich, just to remove the pillar trim.
This trim design is just as stupid as using different connectors for front VS. back speakers.
GM tries to make the shade tree mechanic's job as difficult as possible.
Once exposed, the pillar speakers were not difficult to replace with
    Pioneer TS-A4670F 4x6 4-Ways.
These little speakers actually try to pump out some respectable bass. I'm going to add an Amp and see if they really can. I'm not sure if it's the factory stereo clipping or the speaker itself causing the distortion. But I plan to find out..$200...later.
    Hope this helps someone.

Nice vid. about to pop mine out to bump dent out on b pillar exterior panel..
    And..
    Post removal comments...
Process was so much easier with your video..Removed all panels including complete removal of rear panel to ease it out..removed cleaned and replaced in ten minutes or so..
Could not access the dent on b pillar as another layer of structure is in front..and that layer is not dinged at all and won't allow pressure to affected area..
