A few years since this video was made but is still very relevant and useful. Love my very young Cycads and can't wait to come back here to remind me how to separate the pups. Thanks.
Enjoyed your video! What a lovely plant. Glad to learn all the pups survived. Your video offered a wealth of knowledge & expertise with cycads. I learned so much from you. Thank you!

Hello from Australia ! very nice video and it was well detailed. i am in the process of planting a cycad into a ceramic 50cm pot. i learned quite a bit from your video and it was helpful but now i have to go back and take the plant out of the pot and do a few things first like you did.....wet the soil until it drains out the bottom of the pot, add compost etc All i did was fill the ceramic pot with potting mix and that is all. i did not water it in properly, add compost etc Maybe i can send some photos or upload a video and you can tell me what i did right or wrong :)
+Brendan Temme Sorry I reply so late. It will do well also with only potting mix as long it has a good drainage. The most important factor is the drainage. Cycads like any plants love water but not wet feet. Australia is a good place for a Cycad to grow. I have a feeling the plant is doing just fine.
I could barely understand you,but very detailed and we'll put together vid hope you would've showed the way you reported them.Received a sago and doesn't seem to be doing well good video though.
+Johan Faber I"am pleased to hear that. Thank"s Johan for your comment. The cycads i transplanted in the video are doing wonderfully. 100% success.I will post a video with them shortly.
Some one gave me a cycad with a number of pups. I wondered how I could separate them. This video was very informative. Now I will try to put this into practice. I must say I am a bit afraid. Especially when I hear you say that it is a delicate process. O my
Hallo Mr Aringhe. Where in South Africa are you? My grandparents in Mpumalanga got hundreds of seeds from their cycad a few weeks ago. They are not using the seeds. Would you be interested in them?
Hi ! This is a very informative video.I am in northern India and i have 2 cycads female plants. They have been with me for over 15 yrs but their growth is very very slow. What can I do to rectify this ? Also for the past 3-4 yrs no new leaves have survived on them...they get eaten by bugs. Please suggest some remedies if you can.
Hi Meenakshi, for a living thing to survive it needs two major things. Food and protection. In your case please consider to give to your plants some fertilizer and when new leaves appear use insecticide. I don't know what brands are in India but a general fertilizer and insecticide are much better then nothing.. Any nursery or agriculture shops can help you. Don't let them die please.
Camelia Aringhe Thank you ! And sorry for acknowledging your reply so late.I started using neem oil as fertilizer for the infestation on new leaves. It seems beneficial so far.
