Thanks for the vid! Waiting on my spektrum 9120 currently but had a friend tell me I needed a new servo horn, thanks for showing that you can re-use the stock one!
@@emiller0980 Hmm glad it worked for you. I “finessed” it quite a bit with a hammer and it’s only about half way and doesn’t seem to want to go any farther. Worried I’ll break the servo if I finesse any more 😆
The stock horn fits on the 9120 servo, but it is a very tight fit. I found a bolt that was a bit longer than stock and used that to pull the horn onto the output shaft. Once it was on a couple of mm's (1/16 of an inch), I took the horn off and used a small knife to clean out a bit of debris from the splines. Then used the longer bolt to pull the horn as far as it would go, then switched to the stock bolt to seat it down all the way. You definitely want to use a longer bolt so you do not strip threads of the output shaft.
Your servo arm went on so smoothly. Every other video they have to hammer it on there. I asked horizon support they said it should be a perfect fit. NOPE had to hammer it on as well. Kinda sucks beating a 250$ piece of equipment but oh well.
@@horizonhobbysupport Putting the stock horn on a Spektrum 1\5 High torgue servo. Its the same amount of teeth just the horn is a tiny bit too small. There is a video called "Axial Scx6 How to install Spektrum Servo Upgrade Pilot Ryan" made by Pilot Ryan MediaTimestamp 6:26 He had the same problem. Figured it be easier to show you.
@@horizonhobbysupport does the scx6 come with a large scale servo? I’m assuming no. Then why isn’t one already in the truck? Which servos do you recommend?
It's actually pretty badass for 1100. I mean they could've gone with the next best servo but then it would've cost 1400 . And considering most the buyers wont ever need that servo, sounds like a bad move.

I don’t think you can, I just tried and the stock horn doesn’t fit on the S9120BL.
@@RobSchlegel mine is on there, you’ve gotta finesse it on (tiny hammer)

Are you putting the horn on a Spektrum servo? or another brand with the same spline count?

The thing has been out for 1 day and they are already trying to sell you upgrades, why didn't they just put in a descent servo to begin with.
That's not how RTRs are bud.
We are just trying to show everyone different options and how to do it.
Appears to be a GREAT upgrade for more steering Power. BUT DOES IT REQUIRE A BEC or now - all SCX6 stock? Pls let me know!
wat servo is that mines just broke
Same mine just broke on my honcho truck
My honcho did not seem to come with the parts bag
Can you turn up the stock esc to 7.4 using the programer with this servo. Or do you need an external bec?
Shouldn’t the wheels bebstraighr when connecting the servo horn?
Totally gonna do this upgrade
Can you recommend some 1/5 scale servos? Also do you think a Reefs Raw 500 or Reefs 555, would be powerful enough for this truck. Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't think a 1/10 could hold up. They're strong but too small for so much mass
You really need to use a large scale servo.
Reefs are crap.
Which brand do you prefer?

Nsdrc RS2500 is perfect for this and guys who are goin to run some serious meat for tires.
How can we get rc vehicles made here in America tired of doing business with a tyrannical country.
Horizon Hobby is out of Illinois.
