  • Westonbury Water Mill Gardens are a fascinating combination of water garden and follies located near Pembury in Herefordshire. Designed and constructed by owner Richard Pim, the follies are quite unique and the water theme runs through each folly (see the entire garden here: • Westonbury Mill Water ... ).
Richard's most recent and ambitious folly is this 2 storey, timber framed, water powered cuckoo clock, constructed in the heart of his garden over a 3 year period. Visitors can see the internal workings of the clock which extend across the 2 floors of the clock tower, and the cuckoo can be heard throughout the garden on the hour.

I visited the garden yesterday, with no idea really of what to expect, so not upset by fact that the clock was awaiting repair, but how lovely to find this video of it. The garden that houses this clock, along with other follies, is truly magnificent in it's use of plants, colour, leaf shape. I was in heaven using all of my senses to soak up this fabulous creation. I stopped briefly to speak to a man pulling up rushes from the duck pond and expressed my delight, only to realise later that this was probably Richard Pim himself. Well done Sir!
