What age should you start teaching your children to read?

I started reading at 2. The sooner the better and easier. Both of my sons started reading early as well. Both were straight A students. Oldest has Master's Degree in in Engineering. Youngest is in college now.

@@mignongreen8557that’s amazing? So when did you introduce you sons to letters and letter sounds? Also what books did you start with?

@lilykimberlyflowersinwestc1631 as soon as they started trying to talk and making sounds. My mom did the same thing with me. Young minds work very well. My sons started repeating and remembering the sounds when they were around a year. Then I slowly started teaching them to put the sounds together to read 3 letter words. My mom used to have me read billboards and street signs when we were on the bus. It kept me occupied on my way to daycare. We just believe it's never too young to start teaching children to read. Point to the words when reading to children eventually they recognize words.
