I'm not sure where you heard the song before. My records have it as a Woody Guthrie song. I believe the lyrics sung here are the same as Woody's original lyrics. The only line about the Chinese being "I thank the Soviets and the mighty Chinese Vets" This is more consistent in terms of both rhyme and lyrical theme, as it then goes to "allies the whole wide world around" Thus, the Chinese vets rhyme and are also in a list of peoples that are fighting. It would be a bit strange to list only "the chinese reds" as that would imply that he's not thankful to the rest of the Chinese. It would also be strange because it would be a little anachronistic. I don't have the exact date of the recording, but I believe it was 1944. The PRC didn't form until 1954. I don't know of many sources from 1945 or before that refers to "red china" and the like. But I could be wrong.
