Great job, Some people don't understand how important rations are. Studied it in high school when in the FFA. People consume rations all the time. In cereals, desserts, etc. Baking, mixing paint colors is all about rations. A little bit of this with a lot of that. Worked for Ralston Purina in Springfield MO while in college in the production department running pellet mills making the pellet formed feed. We produced feeds for dairy, beef, turkey, pigs, horses, etc. My lead man was running the mixing process, just like you did in the video. Maybe a little more accurately since samples had to be taken out of each batch that I ran. Quality was the name of the game in producing quality feeds. I'm now 68 and you take me back to the farm when I was raising dairy heifers in high school. Thank you for your videos.
I have been watching and enjoying your videos since almost the beginning of your channel. This video was AWESOME. it was nice to see your feeding setup. My cousin and his wife own and operate their own dairy farm here in Maine. I help him from time to time and he has a mixing feed wagon like yours. Feeding the cows is one thing that he himself is the only one that feeds. He loves his cows and is VERY particular and precise on how much and what he feeds his cows. He fixes and works on his own stuff just like you. You guys are a lot alike with that stuff. The farm is (Cooley Farm) in Ripley Maine. They were 2019 Maine Dairy farm of the year. I wish they had a RUclips channel lol. Also I’d like to say how Awesome YENKO is. You can tell just the way he acts how much he loves you. What a wonderful beautiful thing to see. Best friends for ever!! Anyways have a great evening and as always WORK SAFE 🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎. HI YENKO!!!!!!!!!
When I was working at a belted Galloway cow calf operation we got brewers grains for free from the local brewery. What we would do is we had a little trailer that was for to the box that the Brewers grains were put in and pick it up everytime they brewed. Now that sucks in the summer when ur bucket feeding Brewers grains in the middle of a feild with a bunch flys and cranky cows in 100 degree heat. Not to mention the grains are hot and put off a lot of heat as well. Ya don't miss doin that. But man I'd go back to farming in a heartbeat. I love being a machine operator but. I love my tractors cows and outdoors more!
Not to mention that stuff spoils fast in the heat so we were on the clock trying to empty the bin before it went bad and trying to empty it before it was time for the next pick up. Great fat and protein source but boy did the girls make pudding! Like exlax for cattle.
Duffy, I had a nightmare, that you no longer had the 7520, it was terrible! I was woken in terror, my heart was clawing at my chest while I screamed "Oh God not the 7520." Yenko was running in circles howling the most blood-curdling sounds ever heard from a Blue Heeler. Oh, Duffy, I know you wouldn't get rid of the 7520, you too, need to hear the engine roar to life, feel the almighty diesel pounding as the injectors feed the insatiable power stroke of each piston back to life. I'm better now the little lady gave me some hot cocoa & assured me that the Duff Man would not get rid of God's Legendary Diesel! Now, all is well in Duff land once again!!!!🙂
Just stopped by to get 4 bags of manure and go-to ice cream on the way from NH to the cape to drop off a couple kayaks 👍 was hoping to see you. Man the videos make place look huge. Saw chopper heads in front of the garage. You really need to get BIG green put back together. No ice cream waited over an hour ..hours are weather permitting but got to see the cows and pigs.
I like your mixer for feeding the cattle. Watching these videos I see a lot of new and different mixers. Yours is the first Roto Mix feeders. They are made not to far from me in Dodge City, my home is west of Hutchinson. Blessings in all you tomorrows.
Like the spring loaded electric barrier to the heifer yard. Easy access, but I don't know if I could trust it long term. Do any test it and get out..... just by running through it ! I know our young stock would be out !!!!
Really interesting. Family farm when I was young. Jersey x limousin herd, sheep , pigs etc. It was low tech compared to this. Good memories except it was constant, just some days/weeks harder than others. Your videos are becoming my just before bedtime viewing!! Animals look content and calm.
Your cattle are beautiful! The girls looked like they were bathed and spit shined! Says a lot about the quality of your milk! I’m in Southeastern Kentucky, not any dairy farming here in the mountains! I have family in Taunton Ma, been up there a few times, they love to make fun of my hillbilly accent!😂
Really enjoyed the video since I have done feeding on a large scale farm part time for 9 years now. Our mixes for the milking cows average 25000 lbs so this was interesting to watch along with see the differences in ingredients used along with batch sizes. Good Duffy!
We used to do tires on our bunks as well, problem was that first they where heavy we had a lot of big tractore tires, second it's a pain to deal with them when they are full of old silage soked watter and third we always had problems with mold under the tire since they got hot. About 15 years ago we switcehd to just bags along the side, much much better, it's less work, keeps the sheetight if you do it right (not like a certan british farmer) there is less mold on top and all around it's better for us. There is still mold but that is probably a combination of more things that just the bags
Do you graze the cows at all?.... as in out in the paddocks? Most dairy farms in Ireland have cows out grazing by daytime in early March and out day and night by early April weather permitting. The ration is fed in the milking parlour. There is some zero grazing going on too when the weather is wet or on heavy soil farms. But in the main cows go out to graze.
Cant get burnt out feeding cows if you're only doing it a couple weeks every year and a half. But I liked this video, hope Francisco takes more vacations lol
@@willianvos3521 State owns land & buildings, they own herd & equipment. They still have old barn (where straw was stored) but it's old and not setup for robots. IIRC they did add cows (~80 up to 120) but they'd need another robot for more than that
Stay with the tires. A farm close to me has a bunk newer bunk with straps. Downside is the has to be full in one go. Covering the bunk with is also not a option. I drive every day past a farm with at least 800cows they have very large bunks around 7 wich they all cover with tyres
To feed a cow make sure barbed wire is in the hay it helps the humans bleed on the hay to give it more protein! Make sure the hay turns black for better than a snow bank issue . Lol
I just had to make 400 square bales for my sisters horses. Nothing like having to pay the sister tax. My bennies in clued all the shit my dad gives me. My sister gets free 6 dollar a bale hay.

We sure watched enjoyed watching you feed cows and how nice your place is.
I like good videos like this just seeing what feed cows fully entails.

Thanks for showing the inside of the mixer wagon 🙂

Loved seeing the cows 🐄
Your stock look in excellent condition 👍Only missed feeding my cows once in the last 4 years,it took the lad 2 hrs where I can do it in 40 minutes.

Awesome content, i like the side wall tires instead of full tires, bye bye heavy mosquito hives!
Great job on the video. I was hoping youd show more of behind the scenes of the dairy operation. Keep you the great work.

Hi great video thanks.
Another great video.
Awesome vid ! Glad you remembered how to- those thumbs down viewers must be insane OR never milked cows❗️❗️

Like the cows 🐄 video
If it was me I would be putting that weigh scale on a chain to lower it :)
Good video. Dry cows on full DCAB diet?

I think they like the expensive way. 😁
What do you guys do with rotten hayledge, corn silage?? Just spread it on a field?
So what do you feed the chickens ?
Brewers grain smells good for the first couple days. Than it smells bad after that, especially with the heat in the summer time.
👋everyone.
Do you have a hoof trimmer for the cows?
How often do the canola and TMR silo's get refilled?
Cant get burnt out feeding cows if you're only doing it a couple weeks every year and a half. But I liked this video, hope Francisco takes more vacations lol
@George Jones lol i meant Francisco, edited
How fast did you have the pto running while you were mixing?
Try 107 degrees daily with the lows of 90s at night
Clocking in? Ok how far back do I have to go in the videos to get the answer🤔
I clock on when I'm working on the farm
Now this video showed some different action.
What is with adding lime stone to the dry cow’s feed?
Calcium
Dry cows require a different calcium to phosphorus ratio than lactating cows.
Who puts together your feed program?
What size John Deere is on your mixer wagon
Previously he said a 2950 or 2955
The cattle say what's in the salad bar today? 🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
I see Yenko riding in cabs. Has he ever destroyed a cab?
Duffy why doesn’t any body use the old silos any more?
nor as efficient as a bunker and need more labor and slower overall
Witch Model feeding tractor?
2950
They cows love you
do you feed in the robots at all
Could you build more barns if you needed more room for your cows and heifers or are you restricted to what you can do?
He is restricted because the farm is in a state park
@@willianvos3521 State owns land & buildings, they own herd & equipment.

Its like how do eat an elephant ( in small bites ) so one load a day maybe , its a start. So lets get after it !! Side bar Video !! thanks

"Everything is a death trap"...Jeremy Clarkson agrees
How many cows are you feeding all together?
Think he said 120 cows
Chris how many chickens are on the farm? I hate chickens they are mean. I like the feeding videos.

why u feeding fertilizer to cattle. I have a lot of allergies what is morbid I am allergic to that pills for allergies
Nothin like a kiss from mother nature with dirty tire water splashing up in your face...
👍👋
You should do that more often so we have some pretty girls to look at
Damm, no matter what, the start or end of the end your hands are covered. Or it's just permanently tanned. Lol

Let me at the ice cream
You need a robot to mix the feed...
brain fart lol
