I want to use such a device with a plastic corner-cube reflector plate, which reflects THOUSANDS as much back in the direction of the emitter than a white paper-like surface. (See Lambertian reflector.) I want to measure 500, 1000, 2000 meters, with a resolution of 1 millineter . Problem is, I don't think the device will 'wair for' such a delayed reflection, even when it arrives late.
And, of course, the display diesnt have sufficient digits to display this.

Why state that you are going to measure a 90' distance and then show your result is 89.22'? It has nothing to do with distance between baseball bases. The claimed accuracy on this device is 1/16" and this advertisement shows 1-foot error. It's dumb from an advertising perspective.

He measured to the front of the base.....baseball bases are 90' center to center. This device is very accurate, plus or minus 1mm.

Not very accurate though.... So good for better than guess work, but not that much better. Pretty pathetic video seeing as it comes from Leica.

The 90' distance is measured from the "top of the house" (the portion of home plate that points towards the catcher). The bases are 15" deep and 90' would be to the center of the base. Thus, it is not 90' from the center of home plate to the near edge of either the 1st or 3rd base bag. It would be 7" less than 90' to the top of the house. But he was standing roughly in the middle of home plate, a few inches closer to the base than the top of the house. Additionally, he is standing up and measuring down to ground level at the base. That will give a different distance than if he was at ground level at home base. So, the measurement displayed on the device could be spot on. It is impossible to tell without also measuring with a traditional tape measure from the same end points.
