No heist here . . this was excellent preparation . . the two key players Ajaz and Rachin . . both spent a LOT of time in India playing domestically to get used to conditions, but Will Young and Tom Latham himself really held their batting and had a very very simple game plan . . masterful sweeping and defending brilliantly when needed.

They won the test against Bangladesh in two days and smacked Bangladesh bowlers all over the park. They thought they'd di the same against nz but it failed miserably. Rohit needs to calm down and bat normally. Its not ipl or t20 cricket

They aren't selecting Patel over Phillips. Phillips is a proper batter. Since spinners don't do much in NZ conditions you may as well choose one that can bat.
That's a really bad take... NZ are going to play with 4 seamers at home. Phillips also has a higher batting average than Young so it would be insane to drop him.

@jeremydow1432 take it up with the selectors because they won't chose Patel in NZ conditions. Spinners don't play a huge role in NZ conditions and the selectors prefer ones that can bat. Ravindra, Phillips and Santner all bat whereas Patel doesn't. Patel only ever gets a gig in the Sub Continent.
past indian batsmen used to dance down the wicket to take singles against spinners...and when the spinners pitched short they would go on backfoot and cut or pull the ball for four,.,, hence they were very comfortable against spin...that art seems to have lost and indian batsmen are now sweeping like rest of the world...something wrong with the batting coaching

Young’s efforts were a breakthrough mentally for him, knowing he had been given kanes posi he had to shine or his career was probably over at least while Kane is around. Only real failure was Blundells batting and keeping. Saving grace for him is it was in India. If they drop him, who else is there?
