    ***correction*** The Classic 350 has a removable split seat, so pillion riding is possible. Virtually every photo of the C350 on the RE site is in solo mode. Still, it’s not the same as the bigger dual seat on the new Bullet.

      In the US the passenger seat comes installed and some do remove it for the look. I left mine thinking it looked more BSA, especially with the red chrome colorway.

    MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT with this… I don’t think I was alone in hoping for a new 500 or even 650 twin Bullet… but instead yet another 350… I get the historical significance of the bullet to RE but frankly the the only only people that RE will steal sales from with this is themselves… the 350 20bhp sector of the market is just them… unless there is a 500 being announced tomorrow I think there will be a great deal of disappointment with this.

      RE discontinued the UCE based Bullet 350 and replaced it with this. As much as I would love to have a 500 based on the efficient and smooth J platform, I am sure it's not going to happen. As for a 650 with Bullet/Classic styling, RE is already testing one on Indian roads. You can find some spy pics and videos of this on the internet. It looks pretty good. Had it been available when I bought my Interceptor, I might have picked that up instead. But, we will have to wait for it.

      Because the bullet is not just a bike for RE. It has been their torch bearer for decades, something synonymous to their brand. The most ignorant person in India may not know the name Royal Enfield but they all know bullet.
      As for why another 350, that's their least powerful engine but it keeps the prices more accessible while giving a 0 fuss bike true to its origins.

      @@crumblymal8479 there are rumours of a 650 but take it with a grain of salt. Unless they are very sure about the engine, there is no chance they will put one in a bullet. Which is why i think the new liq cooled 450 will probably be seen in himmy and even scram before they even consider a 450/500 version.
      The main thing about the way they are marketting is probably nostalgia baiting and asking people to pay a premium for a narrative. That's why they marketting the sound, which is iconic and the 350 which is as well

    I used to have a Bullet 500, but now have a INT 650 and you know, I don't miss the whole-body vibrational massage I used to get. Around here (California) a 350 is absurd and even my 500 was severely underpowered. Perhaps in other countries or strictly for urban riding, a 350 or 500 single might be acceptable, but I'd never step down from my 650 twin and own another Bullet.

    Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but people need to move on. The 500 is gone, atleast in the short to mid term. RE have a lot of things to consider before investing in a 500 cc engine. With the new 450 LC series coming up it makes little sense to make a new 500 cc engine, the performance will be way too similar if not lower for the 500 air cooled engine. And people mostly just want that engine on the bullet, no chance anybody with half a brain will make a new engine for that alone. That and the fact that RE is running out of manufacturing space, they recently inaugurated a new assembly plant to increase output, adding another series will probably require another plant.
    Now the existing 350 engine could be bored out to make it a 500 cc but it wont be anywhere near as refined without a complete overhaul of the other components. So move on, there's a 650 classic on the horizon maybe even a bullet version of the same (actually I do think this is part of the plan).

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox Год назад

      The problem is that the gap between the 350 and 650 is quite small. Making a new 500 doesn't make sense for RE in terms of time, R&D and cost. So, I agree with you.

    I really can't understand who RE are targeting their bikes to. Their largest capacity bike since the end of the 1960's was a 500, and a breathless weakling at that. Then they decide another 150cc increment is making a very bold statement. Perhaps a 650cc twin may seem a good idea if it only weighed 170kg (like my BSA) instead of 220kg, 50 kg more than my BSA, and in the case of the super meteor 230kg or so about 15 less than my R1150GS, with about 3 time as much torque. These under performing offerings look beautiful, but have little appeal to me personally. It seems a shame in this day and age, that they have not offered a more substantial bike in the 850 to 950 capacity range, just like the big bore kits for the 650's from S&S do. Seems like a missed opportunity to me. Having said that in addition to the two bikes l own mentioned above, l also have a Hinckley, Triumph T100 865, which is certainly nothing to write home about even though it looks beautiful and is well made. It doesn't stop quickly and has unusual handling, in wanting to drop into corners. Such is life. I think it would be difficult for RE to best the 865 T100, and would find it even harder to best the 900CC T100, or T120. But someone who probably could, is the niche Austrian manufacturer, Brixton, with their Cromwell offering. As for RE, l guess we might say the best is yet to come, because what they want us to buy from them, just doesn't cut it.

    I am from India. We can see very much 350 RE models on road I also test drive but I stick to Honda CB350 RS a bike with similar engine specs but with a longer gear ratio and modern features at similarprice tag in india. It is a street fighter and scrambler type of bike by honda. In city traffic it is more peppy and agile. And there is no vibration or noice from engine even at its top speed/ cutoff RPM also have slipper and assisted clutch switchable traction control and dual channel ABS. Honda gives me 6 year warranty. after launch of this new RE models in india , compatition increased now honda is providing new customers with 10year warranty that is really amazing. This honda bike is also exported to Japan from India it is called GB350 in Japan.
    I saw triumph 400 on road yesterday. I cant even see him on open highway in the horizon he disappeared quickly. That is a valued for money powerbike for Indians. Triumph want to steel the market of RE650 I think. Interceptors 650 is a good buy in india.

    A 500 is well, WELL over-due. Surely it can't be too hard to produce. It's the "sweet spot" many of us want. The Goldie Locks of engine capacities for the western market. Virtually no trade off in frugality to a 350, but all the extra benefits for country or urban expanses that require speeds of 60 plus. Some may argue the 350 is enough but, many of us don't want to be pinned on the throttle with very little or nothing in reserve on faster roads.

    • @WildlifeMoto
      @WildlifeMoto  Год назад +1

      Easy to produce, hard to get the bloke with the clipboard to approve it. Sadly air cooled singles are not particularly effective. The solution is to lean out the fuel mix, which means a hotter burn and less excess fuel to produce a cooling effect. So then you have to slap a liquid cooling system in place like BSA did on the Gold Star. On a classic bike it’s often seen as sacrilege but sometimes it’s the only way.

    the 500 cc is mostly dead. Royal Enfield were most probably paying homage to the bullets of yesteryear. This is mostly the only model coming. As per a leaked meeting image, they are currently working on a new 450 cc liquid cooled platform, replacing the outgoing 411 cc engine. This means the only platforms planned in the near future are the current J-series 350s, the all new liquid-cooled 450s, and the current 650cc twins, and there are rumours of a liquid cooled 750 cc twin engine to either co-exist or replace the 650 twins. If you want to criticize this bike you can find 1000 reasons, a lot of factors made this bike popular, bad village roads, hilly terrains and super cheap spare parts. For RE there is a dilemma to upgrade this bike, it is their bestseller but harsher emission norms has forced their hand, they tried to keep it the design as similar as possible and even retain the thump, with the new model it will be either a hit or massive flop, depending on people sentiment. RE shouldn't even try to sell this in UK as you don't buy this bike with your brain but your heart.

    I think we were fooling ourselves hoping for a 500, after all did they not make and release the "Tribute" model for the 500 in 2021? (Which I have BTW). Whereas I dont mind the looks of this new release, two things put me off. Why the frakk would you not include an $8 value kick starter to keep the looks authentic? and being in Australia I fear the 350 being terribly underpowered for our roads. At least in the UK you are inundated with country roads and lanes.

    The Bullet E logo has nothing to do with an electric bike. It's the badge they used to put on the rear mudguard of the later iron barrelled bikes. The E just stands for ENFIELD!

    • @WildlifeMoto
      @WildlifeMoto  Год назад

      We don’t know that. All those bikes are distinct models, apart from the “E”. The E has never been a model so it’s fair to speculate that it could be a look forward. We know RE are some way off from an EV bike, but they recently dropped €50m on Stark Future so it’s coming. Now, if I was in the team tasked with naming the Electric Bullet, guess what I’d call it?

    Agree the "Bullet" brand is important and that render of what the 350 will look like is spot on. I suspect the 450cc powerplant in the Himalayan is a "stopgap" until RE can develop an efficient 500cc mill? When that comes, I suspect we will see a full spectrum of bikes, headed by a Bullet 500, and the new Himalayan and a "scrambler" variant!
    Royal Enfield will then have a FULL SPECTRUM of powerplants, once the twin is upgraded to it's logical 750cc conclusion.... 350cc single, 500cc single, 750cc twin. (25 ish bhp, 47 ish bhp, and hopefully, 75 ish restrictable bhp?)

    • @WildlifeMoto
      @WildlifeMoto  Год назад +2

      A 750 twin would be a lot of fun. I rode a big bore 865 and it pulled hard!

    • @black8art
      @black8art Год назад

      @@WildlifeMoto the results from TEC up on Tyneside, shows better power/torque when improving the cams! I thimk the 750cc rebore, combined with decent cam profiles, would give the twin a much broader scope for performance, and leave the rest of the single cylinder mills to fulfill the utility roles? The Himalayan NEEDS a better motor and a lightweight and economical 500cc would help the model fulfill it's fan's expectations! (sustained 70-80mph without discomfort for 200kg of rider passenger and luggage, or huge thirst!)

    • @unsungtales3217
      @unsungtales3217 Год назад +1

      Sorry sir, but that's not the case. The 450s are an almost full range starting with the Himalayan, then a street bike, followed by a scrambler and recently there has also been talks of a power cruiser from the same engine. For most people here in India it's pretty clear that RE has decided to move on from the 500 cc motor. They're going for 350, 450, 650 and 750 cc engine series and anything more powerful is likely going to be electric. I would truly be a surprise if a new 500 cc motor will be developed anytime soon.

    • @black8art
      @black8art Год назад

      @@unsungtales3217 CORRECTION! - The NEW (water cooled) 450cc single is only just out of development! It has been announced as coming to the Himalayan next tear, and probably to the Scram at the same time. I see this power plant as a "stop gap" until a light weight 500 can be developed! Long term, a 450cc power plant WILL bleed sales from the 350cc bikes! This is why there needs to be a 500, and the 650cc twin needs enlarging to 750cc! The 350cc-500cc-750cc spread of power and performance options would make the Royal Enfield range better able to compete (?) with the global demands in the market!
      There has been some discussion of sleeving the 650 down to produce a 500cc tywin, but as an engineer, I would argue against this as the 650cc twin is already HEAVY and has an extremely "over engineered" construction, which has allowed the development of 750cc and 865cc S&S rebore kits, without needing any bottom end mods! (just a stronger clutch and an ECU flash?) I would suggest Royal Enfield's reputation for ruggedness might be compromised by stretching the 411cc, or the 450cc liquid cooled single's design as far as 500cc, but until the 450 has been run extensively and stripped down to see how it is built, (and how it wears?) I'll reserve any definitive judgement!
      Another thing we have to consider is the approaching end of demand for internal combustion engines in the EU and US! (being banned!) The markets for petrol bikes will end after 2030! Is it wise to spend $500,000 developing another NEW engine, when demand is going to SUDDENLY fall off a cliff? I hope, WITH ALL MY HEART, this folly will not happen, but political wheels have already been set in motion, and time IS running out for ALL fossil fuel powered vehicles! ....unless there can be shown a "water tight case" for keeping motorcycles "noisey"!

    Yes, there's a little disappointment about us not getting a 500cc version - but I do like what they've done with the Bullet 350. I particularly like the black/gold version. When I bought my dark gunmetal grey Classic 350 in April, I purposefully went for the more durable finish. I didn't want another "garage queen", I've had too many of those. If the Bullet in black/gold had been available I think I might have gone for it instead. But in the meantime "Ernie" continues to delight and give more smiles per mile than any other recent bikes I've had.
